Rayne Team Rider Levi Green is well known for mad steez, redrilling everything and Purple. We figured we could combine these traits with Levi's ability to skate everything to prototype a new board for the Summer 2013 line-up we thought he would like - the Rayne Darkside.
How much do you know about Rayne proto's? Ha Ha. A little bit Cat Money, a little bit Moracle, partly Chillshakabrah, all Rayne and a lot of fun. The Darkside is a Directional, Top Mount Freeride board with Radial Drop, Rocker and a Kick-tail. The Darkside has a short wheelbase, narrower width and just enough flare to put on some 70mm Rayne Envy Wheels, but we think it's most fun on the 62mm Envy.
This hybrid board crosses over a love of radial drops for DH leverage, control and lock-in with a urning for a kick tail to get up, over and around everything and anything. Like a fun button for around own, now you can ollie, manual, blunt and firecracker your way from place to place instead of just pushing. Come over to the Darkside!

Rayne Longboards in association with Newman Productions, is pleased to release “Cop Chases Longboarder - Stop Resisting!”. Officer Purple picks up where Dirty Harry leaves off, and takes aim at the dirty thane dumpers plaguing the hills and streets of our cities. Will his detective skills be up to the task? If the Brightside and Darkside are too small for you, the grass is always greener on the Otherside!
The Otherside is a Directional, Top Mount Freeride board with Radial Drop, 3-Stage Rocker and a Kick-tail, in a slightly larger package (can't we all hope!?). The difference between the Otherside and it's Brightside and Darkside counterparts is a 2" longer wheelbase and larger standing platform and wide cutout shape. It still fits 70mm Rayne Envy Wheels, but we think it's most fun on the 62mm Envy.

Patrick Switzer is known for being one of the fastest men downhill and one hell of a nice guy! The 2011 World Cup Series Champion joined Rayne in 2012 looking for a family to ride with and some Rayne innovation under his feet. Riding the Rayne Vandal in 2012, Patrick worked with Rayne designer Graham Buksa to transform the basic Vandal into his new Signature Fortune for 2013.
The Fortune is a directional, top mounted speed board like no other. Combining a bit of slalom, pool and downhill, the Fortune gets radial concave, a small spoon tail and an upturned nose added to the directional Vandal shape so Patrick can ollie, manual and generally ride one board for whatever goofing he gets up to. Additionally, the Vandal 3D wheel wells have been turned into what we call 4D Cups. - if you've watched Patrick creating 3D concave with Vicious Grip, you'll know where it all came from. These all-new supportive waves grab your feet and hold them in place so they're not flopping around while you motor your boat down hill.
Finally the new Fortune takes on the Fat Bottom construction we released with the 2012 Avenger, keeping the board stiff and strong, but dropping excess weight and reducing exposed wood by making CNC'ed wheel wells obsolete.
The 4D Cups on this board works like this:
1: Integrated Wheelwells: subtle, pressed in curves in the front and rear open up the new radial concave to naturally allow for more diverse wheel options, while allowing the rider to find their feet without looking and prevent wheelbite without cutting into the deck.
2: Integrated Foot Locks: molded into the Wheelwells, the three dimensional waves create natural ridges to dig your foot into for tucking, pushing out drifts and slides and generaly keeping your eyes and mind on the road ahead and not the board beneath you.

Rayne Team Rider Levi Green is well known for mad steez, redrilling everything and Purple. We figured we could combine these traits with Levi's ability to skate everything to prototype a new board for the Summer 2013 line-up we thought he would like - the Rayne Darkside. How much do you know about Rayne proto's? Ha Ha. A little bit Cat Money, a little bit Moracle, partly Chillshakabrah, all Rayne and a lot of fun. The Darkside is a Directional, Top Mount Freeride board with Radial Drop, Rocker and a Kick-tail. If the Brightside and Darkside are too small for you, the grass is always greener on the Otherside! The Otherside is a Directional, Top Mount Freeride board with Radial Drop, 3-Stage Rocker and a Kick-tail, in a slightly larger package (can't we all hope!?). Designing Patrick Switzer's Rayne Fortune
Patrick Switzer is known for being one of the fastest men downhill and one hell of a nice guy! The 2011 World Cup Series Champion joined Rayne in 2012 looking for a family to ride with and some Rayne innovation under his feet. Riding the Rayne Vandal in 2012, Patrick worked with Rayne designer Graham Buksa to transform the basic Vandal into his new Signature Fortune for 2013. The Fortune is a directional, top mounted speed board like no other. Combining a bit of slalom, pool and downhill, the Fortune gets radial concave, a small spoon tail and an upturned nose added to the directional Vandal shape so Patrick can ollie, manual and generally ride one board for whatever goofing he gets up to. Rayne Team Rider Levi Green is well known for mad steez, redrilling everything and Purple. We figured we could combine these traits with Levi's ability to skate everything to prototype a new board for the Summer 2013 line-up we thought he would like - the Rayne Darkside.
How much do you know about Rayne proto's? Ha Ha. A little bit Cat Money, a little bit Moracle, partly Chillshakabrah, all Rayne and a lot of fun. The Darkside is a Directional, Top Mount Freeride board with Radial Drop, Rocker and a Kick-tail. The Darkside has a short wheelbase, narrower width and just enough flare to put on some 70mm Rayne Envy Wheels, but we think it's most fun on the 62mm Envy.
This hybrid board crosses over a love of radial drops for DH leverage, control and lock-in with a urning for a kick tail to get up, over and around everything and anything. Like a fun button for around own, now you can ollie, manual, blunt and firecracker your way from place to place instead of just pushing. Come over to the Darkside!

Patrick Switzer is known for being one of the fastest men downhill and one hell of a nice guy! The 2011 World Cup Series Champion joined Rayne in 2012 looking for a family to ride with and some Rayne innovation under his feet. Riding the Rayne Vandal in 2012, Patrick worked with Rayne designer Graham Buksa to transform the basic Vandal into his new Signature Fortune for 2013.
The Fortune is a directional, top mounted speed board like no other. Combining a bit of slalom, pool and downhill, the Fortune gets radial concave, a small spoon tail and an upturned nose added to the directional Vandal shape so Patrick can ollie, manual and generally ride one board for whatever goofing he gets up to. Additionally, the Vandal 3D wheel wells have been turned into what we call 4D Cups. - if you've watched Patrick creating 3D concave with Vicious Grip, you'll know where it all came from. These all-new supportive waves grab your feet and hold them in place so they're not flopping around while you motor your boat down hill.
Finally the new Fortune takes on the Fat Bottom construction we released with the 2012 Avenger, keeping the board stiff and strong, but dropping excess weight and reducing exposed wood by making CNC'ed wheel wells obsolete.
The 4D Cups on this board works like this:
1: Integrated Wheelwells: subtle, pressed in curves in the front and rear open up the new radial concave to naturally allow for more diverse wheel options, while allowing the rider to find their feet without looking and prevent wheelbite without cutting into the deck.
2: Integrated Foot Locks: molded into the Wheelwells, the three dimensional waves create natural ridges to dig your foot into for tucking, pushing out drifts and slides and generaly keeping your eyes and mind on the road ahead and not the board beneath you.

Patrick Switzer is known for being one of the fastest men downhill and one hell of a nice guy! The 2011 World Cup Series Champion joined Rayne in 2012 looking for a family to ride with and some Rayne innovation under his feet. Riding the Rayne Vandal in 2012, Patrick worked with Rayne designer Graham Buksa to transform the basic Vandal into his new Signature Fortune for 2013.
The Fortune is a directional, top mounted speed board like no other. Combining a bit of slalom, pool and downhill, the Fortune gets radial concave, a small spoon tail and an upturned nose added to the directional Vandal shape so Patrick can ollie, manual and generally ride one board for whatever goofing he gets up to. Additionally, the Vandal 3D wheel wells have been turned into what we call 4D Cups. - if you've watched Patrick creating 3D concave with Vicious Grip, you'll know where it all came from. These all-new supportive waves grab your feet and hold them in place so they're not flopping around while you motor your boat down hill.
Finally the new Fortune takes on the Fat Bottom construction we released with the 2012 Avenger, keeping the board stiff and strong, but dropping excess weight and reducing exposed wood by making CNC'ed wheel wells obsolete.
The 4D Cups on this board works like this:
1: Integrated Wheelwells: subtle, pressed in curves in the front and rear open up the new radial concave to naturally allow for more diverse wheel options, while allowing the rider to find their feet without looking and prevent wheelbite without cutting into the deck.
2: Integrated Foot Locks: molded into the Wheelwells, the three dimensional waves create natural ridges to dig your foot into for tucking, pushing out drifts and slides and generaly keeping your eyes and mind on the road ahead and not the board beneath you.

There’s something refreshing and cathartic about taking things back to basics; taking a step back so you can appreciate and enjoy the daily struggle and things that have become more complicated than they need to be. In the third and final installment of the Forge edits we see another facet of the board and another facet of a skater that we’re used to seeing bombing hills and getting technical; board and rider alike, there’s more to them than meets the eye.
Pushing and cruising, the first and most basic skills we develop on a skateboard, are often overlooked and underappreciated but they are one thing we all share as skaters – that feeling of freedom that standing on a skateboard gives that hooked us all in the beginning. That perfect moment when all that matters is the next 3 seconds, everything blocked from consciousness except for what’s immediately necessary, and the sound of wheels on the pavement - there’s no real way to describe it unless you’ve lived it.
George knows what’s up, grab a skate and step back from all the daily b/s and your life will surely be better for it.

We recently gave Rayne rider Reese Boyko a prototype of our newest board in the line to put it through its paces and make sure it’s up to the challenge of daily urban adventuring. Reese can shred anything with 4 wheels and 2 trucks, so we put this new fun stick under his feet to see where he took it.
Prototyping is all about testing our ideas to see if they are as smart under our feet as they are in our heads; part cruisy flowy board, part urban assault vehicle, the Forge is a party on wheels. A directional shape with twin double kicks and just the right amount of flex and rebound, it’s as versatile as it is fun. Whether you’re looking to hop, pop, dance, or slide, the Forge delivers with style.
We made the new Forge a little shorter than the original from back in the day for increased mobility, and we extended the cuts to allow for more wheel options. The Forge easily accommodates up to 70mm wheels (or bigger depending on the setup), but Reese was rolling on our new 64mm Envy wheels while testing.
