from https://en-contrainfo.espiv.net/

On March 11th 2016, we cut the counterweights along the catenary of Avilés/Xixón rail line in both directions. The cuts were made at the height of the town of Villabona, locality where our comrades Mónica and Francisco are held hostage. These cuts produce a voltage drop on the line forcing a halt to train traffic, causing serious delays and economic losses. The action aims to send a warm revolutionary hug to our comrades on the occasion of the trial/farce organised by the Spanish State.

Dispatches from Brazil Two: The Pot Comes to a Boil, Many Demos, and Is There Any Right Left?

(São Paulo, Brazil) The orange halogen glow of the lamps in the courtyard at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC) makes the air seem denser and more humid than it really is. I had been asked by an anarchist group (Nu-Sol) to present on my experiences in Rojava and was about halfway through the evening…

“ So the YPG has a 45 day training protocol…” Then a series of deafening, wrenching explosions tore through the courtyard like thunder. I stopped for an instant, regrouped and continued.

Series: The Anarchist Critique of Democracy

From CrimethInc.

What is democracy, precisely? Will it ever deliver on what it promises? How significant is the difference between state democracy and direct democracy? Is anarchism a kind of direct democracy, or something else entirely? And how do democratic discourse and procedures serve the social movements that adopt them?

Topic of the Week: Green Anarchism

  • By: thecollective

How do green or ecological factors affect your thoughts or actions as anarchists, if at all?

What is the importance of indigenous resistance or solidarity as green anarchists, now and moving into the future? What are the implications of the notion that civilization has encroached over every space on the planet, and is there any hope for escape? Would such an escape look like something completely different than anything we’ve known in the past, or would it resemble historical modes of living such as hunter/gatherers? Are tools and technology separated from or a part of nature, i.e. is there a distinction between what is natural and what is artificial? If so, what importance does such a distinction play in the everyday life of people (or yourself) today? Can terms such as wildness or domestication be useful or elaborated on or are they merely jargon or loaded concepts?

As Anarchist Radio Berlin we had the opportunity of talking to a member of the anarchosyndicalist union FAU in Berlin. Until very recently he was involved in a worker's struggle concerning the dismissal of two workers from a vegan Pizzeria and tells us about the background of the struggle, the methods they used and the succesful end of the campaign. Further topics are the situation of migrant workers in Berlin and the issue of self-organizing of those workers.

From BASTARD Conference

We are running a little late but, as you can probably imagine, finding a place to hold an anarchist theory conference isn't as easy as it used to be. In our case it is as much about aging as it is about the horrorshow of land pricing but either way we now have a venue. The Omni Commons will be hosting the 2016 Berkeley Anarchist Students of Theory, And Research, & Development conference.

Greece: Armed Anarchist demonstration against drug dealers

Massive show of strength as anarchists, antifascists and anti-authoritarians took to the streets of Exarcheia against drug dealing mafias and police. The demonstration was guarded by comrades armed with openly displayed guns (who can be seen on the video from 01:53), something that has not been seen at demonstrations in recent times but was deemed necessary due to the serious threat posed by the heavily armed drug mafias who work in collusion with the police.
