On Dec. 22, Chinese state media launched a smear campaign against Zeng, one of the seven labor rights activists criminally detained in a sweep of four worker-support organizations and at least 40 affiliated individuals since Deccember 3. The state has yet to confirm Zeng's whereabouts or criminal charges, but he may be charged with "inciting the subversion of state power," which could result in 15 years in prison.

A partir de la exitosa defensa de Kobanê contra el Estado Islámico de hace un año, el movimiento kurdo de resistencia ha atraído la atención de los medios internacionales de comunicación. Την Παρασκευή 18 Δεκεμβρίου, παγκόσμια ημέρα υπέρ των μεταναστών, μέλη φοιτητικών συλλόγων, σωματείων και φορέων της πόλης διοργάνωσαν διαδήλωση αλληλεγγύης στους μετανάστες. Οι μπάτσοι επιτέθηκαν σε 4 συναγωνιστές μας φοιτητές, οι οποίοι κατευθύνονταν στο χώρο της συγκέντρωσης, χωρίς να έχει συμβεί το παραμικρό και έστειλαν δυο κοπέλες στο νοσοκομείο και ένα αγόρι με σοβαρά χτυπήματα, ενώ για το τέταρτο άτομο έστησαν μερικές πρόχειρες κατηγορίες, (εξύβριση, απείθεια, αντίσταση κ.λπ.) για να δικαιολογήσουν την σύλληψή του και τον ξυλοδαρμό. Την επόμενη μέρα τον πέρασαν από εισαγγελέα χωρίς δικηγόρο και με απόφαση του τον πέταξαν 3 μέρες στα μπουντρούμια της ΓΑΔΘ.

Na tarde de 16 de dezembro, enquanto o ministro relator Luiz Edson Fachin proferia seu voto contrariando a tese da ADPF impetrada pelo PC do B, a base de centro-esquerda (ou ex-esquerda como prefiro) iam à forra contra a UDN e ocupavam simbolicamente as ruas do país. Foi um ato com alguma pujança e grande parte desta reviravolta se deve ao processo de impeachment, iniciado como forma de chantagem através do ainda presidente da Câmara Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ). Sinceramente, vejo como positiva toda e qualquer ação a ocupar os espaços públicos, ainda que opere como correia de transmissão de um governo de centro-direita. Ou seja, aqui a crítica não é terem ido para a rua contra o impeachment, mas sim fazer coro com a direita que governa e jogar para a torcida, dizendo-se "contra o ajuste fiscal" e nada fazendo a este respeito.

La movilización estudiantil universitaria del año 2015 ha sido principalmente local: el estudiantado de las universidades ha estado volcado a disputar internamente las condiciones de estudio que reproducen la precarización y mercantilización del sistema educativo. Demandas internas que en último término intentan avanzar algunos pasos hacia esa educación pública, gratuita y de calidad que anhelamos desde hace ya varios años.

Con cinco estudiantes detenidos, entre ellos el Presidente y el Vicepresidente de la FEUTEM, terminó la movilización realizada durante la mañana de este día jueves por estudiantes de la UTEM, la cual fue convocada luego de conocerse la noticia de que la “ley corta” impulsada por el gobierno, podría dejar fuera del acceso a la gratuidad a tres universidades estatales.

La ciudad como la entendemos y la vivimos hoy en día es el resultado de las dinámicas de apropiación e inversión del excedente de capital que genera el modo de producción capitalista. No hace falta sino ver por la ventana que la ciudad ha generado bastos cinturones de miseria en donde se reproducen ejércitos de hombres y mujeres dispuestos a vender su mano de obra en las condiciones más miserables, para poder conseguir algunos pesos para comer y tener fuerzas para al otro día, volver a trabajar y así conseguir algún recurso adicional para pagarle a sus hijas un estudio para que ellas puedan ingresar a este círculo vicioso algunos escalones más arriba.

Few seem to have noticed that the main tool mooted for keeping us within the 2℃ global warming target is a massive expansion of carbon trading, including offsetting, which allows the market exchange of credits between companies and nations to achieve an overall emissions reduction. That's despite plenty of evidence that markets haven't worked well enough, or quickly enough, to actually keep the planet safe.

The debate over whether to include carbon markets in the final agreement came right to the wire. Some left-leaning Latin American countries such as Venezuela and Bolivia vehemently opposed any mention, while the EU, Brazil, and New Zealand, among other countries, pushed hard for their inclusion – with support from the World Bank, the IMF and many business groups.
