Ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, the proud member of American society of cinematography, introduced the latest 'Red Dragon Digital' technology, creating history. Santosh will be using this camera to shoot the upcoming Suriya-Lingusamy project, making it the first film in the world to use the technology. It must also be noted that it was Santosh Sivan who introduced the Arri Digital Technology to Indian Cinema through AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki. Talking about it, he said he wants the technological advancement to first happen in Chennai and this was one such sign. Although the visual medium remains the same, such advancements in camera results in enhancing the pictorial details. Actor Suriya said he has always admired the works of Santosh Sivan and that he is privileged to be a part of this new project. This film will go on floors on November 15th and can be expected to release in the May 2013.

Santosh Sivan (Malayalam: സന്തോഷ് ശിവൻ; born in Trivandrum, Kerala, India) is an Indian cinematographer, film director, actor and producer known for his extensive work in Indian cinema. .
Santhosh Sivan graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and went on to completing 45 features and 41 documentaries. He was a founding member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC) and is the most awarded director of photography (DP) in India. The finest cinematographer in Indian cinema Santosh Sivan has become the first DOP (director of photography) in Asia Pacific's to be awarded the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) membership. He was awarded the National Film Awards for Best Cinematography four times, for the films Perumthachan (1991), Kaalapani (1996), Iruvar (1997), and Dil Se.. (1998).
Santosh Sivan was born into a family of artists. His grandmother used to teach him painting and music in the palace and as a kid he accompanied her to the palace. These visits gave him an opportunity to become familiar with the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, a nineteenth century Indian painter whose renowned works were themes from Hindu mythology, and everyday life of his times.

Ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, the proud member of American society of cinematography, introduced the latest 'Red Dragon Digital' technology, creating history. Santosh will be using this camera to shoot the upcoming Suriya-Lingusamy project, making it the first film in the world to use the technology. It must also be noted that it was Santosh Sivan who introduced the Arri Digital Technology to Indian Cinema through AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki. Talking about it, he said he wants the technological advancement to first happen in Chennai and this was one such sign. Although the visual medium remains the same, such advancements in camera results in enhancing the pictorial details. Actor Suriya said he has always admired the works of Santosh Sivan and that he is privileged to be a part of this new project. This film will go on floors on November 15th and can be expected to release in the May 2013.
