La vaca Holstein o vaca frisona es una raza vacuna procedente de la región frisosajona (Frisia y Holanda del Norte, en Alemania y los Países Bajos, respectivamente), que destaca por su alta producción de leche, carne y su buena adaptabilidad. Estas características hicieron que fuera adoptada en ganaderías de numerosos países, siendo actualmente la raza más común en todo el mundo en granjas para la producción vacuna de leche. Este animal nace con un peso aproximado de 40 kg. Las vacas Holstein llegan a pesar alrededor de 600 kg, mientras que los toros alcanzan hasta los 1000 kg.
Habitualmente la producción se mide en una lactación normalizada a 305 días (normalmente la vaca se tiene en producción este tiempo y luego se la “seca” entre 40 días y 2 meses antes del parto, que es cuando empieza la siguiente lactación). Esta producción es altamente variable según el manejo y la alimentación de la vaca, pero se conocen vacas que han superado con mucho los 20.000 L de leche. Como ejemplo, hay zonas de España y Andorra donde la media del área ronda los 12.000 litros, con unos porcentajes de grasa y de proteína de aprox. 3,70 % y 3,15 %, respectivamente. Estas producciones requieren un manejo muy especializado, una alta selección genética y una alimentación muy cuidada. Existen profesionales que se dedican precisamente al diseño de la alimentación de las vacas granja a granja. En cada país se ha procurado adaptar la raza a las condiciones locales, orientando la crianza hacia diferentes objetivos. Así han surgido subrazas y tipos “criollos” que difieren del estándar en tamaño y requerimientos, lo que repercute en los rendimientos promedio de producción de leche y carne.
En el pasado se distinguían con el nombre de ganado frisón dos tipos de razas: una con el cuerpo blanco y negro (Frisia, manchada u overa), llamada holandesa, Holstein-Friesian u overa negra, y otra con el cuerpo manchado en rojo y blanco. Esta última fue considerada en Estados Unidos durante años como un defecto genético. A veces de una vaca holstein y un toro holstein nacía una cría roja y blanca, que era sacrificada inmediatamente. Pero con el tiempo se descubrió que diferentes animales negros y blancos son portadores del llamado “factor rojo”. No obstante, a finales del siglo XIX ambas eran consideradas ya como raza única.

Holstein-Friesian is a breed of large dairy cattle originating in the Netherlands. These cattle are believed to have been selected for dairy qualities for about 2,000 years.
Many farmers favour them because Holsteins produce more dairy products than any other dairy breeds. However, it contains less butterfat than that of other breeds.
The Holstein-Friesian cattle are usually called Holstein.
Nederlandse koeien waren in de 19e eeuw populair in het buitenland vanwege hun hoge melkproductie. In de Verenigde Staten werd met Nederlandse koeien verder gefokt. Deze koeien kregen de naam Holstein-Friesian. In de tweede helft van de 20e eeuw kwamen deze Amerikaanse afstammelingen van Nederlandse koeien terug in Nederland omdat ze inmiddels meer melk gaven dan de Nederlandse rassen MRIJ en FH. Our dog Blue shows you her new play things: Four spring calves!
We went to the market in early March and bought three healthy two week old bull calves, and a smaller heifer that needed a little TLC. As you can see from the video, all four are doing very well now and growing. They have until late November to graze on lush green pastures while listening to bird songs before we send them "up north".
In this video they are let out of their calf pen onto larger and larger runs, and finally onto pasture.

Holstein (German pronunciation: [ˈhɔlʃtaɪn]) (Northern Low Saxon: Holsteen, Danish: Holsten, Latin and historical English: Holsatia) is the region between the rivers Elbe and Eider. It is part of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany.
Holstein once existed as the County of Holstein (German: Grafschaft Holstein; 811–1474), the later Duchy of Holstein (German: Herzogtum Holstein; 1474–1866), and was the northernmost territory of the Holy Roman Empire. The history of Holstein is closely intertwined with the history of the Danish Duchy of Schleswig (Danish: Slesvig). The capital of Holstein is Kiel.
Holstein's name comes from the Holcetae, a Saxon tribe mentioned by Adam of Bremen as living on the north bank of the Elbe, to the west of Hamburg. The name means "dwellers in the wood" (Northern Low Saxon: Hol(t)saten; German: Holzsassen).
After the Migration Period of the Early Middle Ages, Holstein was a borderland between Nordalbingia (part of Old Saxony) at the coast of North Sea, the land of the Slavic Wagrians belonging to the Obotrites at the coast of the Baltic Sea and the land of the Danes in Jutland.

Our dog Blue shows you her new play things: Four spring calves! We went to the market in early March and bought three healthy two week old bull calves, and a smaller heifer that needed a little TLC. As you can see from the video, all four are doing very well now and growing. They have until late November to graze on lush green pastures while listening to bird songs before we send them "up north". In this video they are let out of their calf pen onto larger and larger runs, and finally onto pasture. Estas características hicieron que fuera adoptada en ganaderías de numerosos países, siendo actualmente la raza más común en todo el mundo en granjas para la producción vacuna de leche. Este animal nace con un peso aproximado de 40 kg. Las vacas Holstein llegan a pesar alrededor de 600 kg, mientras que los toros alcanzan hasta los 1000 kg.
Habitualmente la producción se mide en una lactación normalizada a 305 días (normalmente la vaca se tiene en producción este tiempo y luego se la “seca” entre 40 días y 2 meses antes del parto, que es cuando empieza la siguiente lactación). Esta producción es altamente variable según el manejo y la alimentación de la vaca, pero se conocen vacas que han superado con mucho los 20.000 L de leche. Como ejemplo, hay zonas de España y Andorra donde la media del área ronda los 12.000 litros, con unos porcentajes de grasa y de proteína de aprox. 3,70 % y 3,15 %, respectivamente. Estas producciones requieren un manejo muy especializado, una alta selección genética y una alimentación muy cuidada. Existen profesionales que se dedican precisamente al diseño de la alimentación de las vacas granja a granja. En cada país se ha procurado adaptar la raza a las condiciones locales, orientando la crianza hacia diferentes objetivos. Así han surgido subrazas y tipos “criollos” que difieren del estándar en tamaño y requerimientos, lo que repercute en los rendimientos promedio de producción de leche y carne.
En el pasado se distinguían con el nombre de ganado frisón dos tipos de razas: una con el cuerpo blanco y negro (Frisia, manchada u overa), llamada holandesa, Holstein-Friesian u overa negra, y otra con el cuerpo manchado en rojo y blanco. Esta última fue considerada en Estados Unidos durante años como un defecto genético. A veces de una vaca holstein y un toro holstein nacía una cría roja y blanca, que era sacrificada inmediatamente. Pero con el tiempo se descubrió que diferentes animales negros y blancos son portadores del llamado “factor rojo”. No obstante, a finales del siglo XIX ambas eran consideradas ya como raza única.

La vaca Holstein o vaca frisona es una raza vacuna procedente de la región frisosajona (Frisia y Holanda del Norte, en Alemania y los Países Bajos, respectivamente), que destaca por su alta producción de leche, carne y su buena adaptabilidad. Estas características hicieron que fuera adoptada en ganaderías de numerosos países, siendo actualmente la raza más común en todo el mundo en granjas para la producción vacuna de leche. Este animal nace con un peso aproximado de 40 kg. Las vacas Holstein llegan a pesar alrededor de 600 kg, mientras que los toros alcanzan hasta los 1000 kg.

MODO DE USO_
Booster lactoreemplazante se ofrece a los terneros desde el "calostrado" (primeros 2 a 5 días de vida) en adelante hasta completar la etapa de recría.
PREPARACIÓN_
Diluir 80-130Gr de producto por cada litro de agua potable según tabla de alimentación.
Prácticamente, se utiliza 1Kg de Booster STD completando con 9 litros de agua para obtener
los 10 litros de sustituto lácteo.
Importante:
Para una mejor dilución se recomienda diluir el 60% del productos, en suero caliente por encima de los 55ºC. Luego agregar el 100% del producto y completar con el total de agua.
Los ternernos deberán recibir en las primeras semanas de vida 2 tomas diarias de 2 litros de sustituto cada una.
La temperatura ideal para ofrecer el sustituto a los terneros es 37-39ºC.
Es importante respetar la temperatura y el horario de entrega de la misma.
Es muy aconsejable seguir las buenas prácticas de manejo en lo concerniente a la crianza de terneros.
se recomienda alimentar a los terneros al menso 2 veces al día.
Ante un cuadro de diarrea, consultar al profesional veterinario, reducir la dosis de sustituto a la mitad, asegurando la provisión de agua para el ternero.
RESTRICCIONES DE USO_
No administrar en aves ponedoras en producción,.
No administrar a vacas ni ovejas productoras de leche para consumo humano, ni gallinas productoras de huevos con el mismo fin.
CONDICIONES DE CONSERVACIÓN_
Mantener en lugar fresco, seco y al resguardo de la luz solar directa, con los envases cerrados.

Many farmers favour them because Holsteins produce more dairy products than any other dairy breeds. However, it contains less butterfat than that of other breeds.
When the Dutch colonized New York, they brought their cattle with them, but after the colony was ceded to the British crown and English settlers brought their own cattle, the Dutch cattle disappeared. The first exportation from Holland to the United States was in 1795, but the largest importations were made between the years 1879 and 1887.
The Holstein-Friesian cattle are usually called Holstein.
Some Holsteins are black and white, while a few are red and white.
Nederlandse koeien waren in de 19e eeuw populair in het buitenland vanwege hun hoge melkproductie. In de Verenigde Staten werd met Nederlandse koeien verder gefokt. Deze koeien kregen de naam Holstein-Friesian. The borough Travemünde is a sea resort and ferry port at the coast of the Baltic Sea. Its central station links Lübeck with a number of lines, notably the line to Hamburg.

Er wonen ongeveer 1,5 miljoen mensen in Estland, waarvan bijna 1/3 in de hoofdstad Tallinn. In slechts dik 2 uur vlieg je met Estonia Air op het vliegveld nabij Tallinn en ben je vervolgens binnen 10 minuten met de taxi in de stad. Wij maakten recent deze reis en waren meer dan benieuwd wat deze Middeleeuwse stad, die zelfs op de Unesco-Werelderfgoedlijst staat, ons allemaal te bieden heeft.

The Schleswig-Holstein Landesmuseum is filled with art treasures.
