The Phantom Light (1935)

When Channel 4 screened this one in the late eighties they were flooded with requests to repeat it. It's a 1955 British thriller made by Michael Powell before he got together with Pressburger. Gordon Harker plays light-keeper Sam Higgins sent to the Welsh coast to replace a murdered man. Binnie Hale stows away as over-imaginative would-be actress and reporter Alice Bright who frequently gets confused between her imaginings and the truth but scents a story at the lighthouse. Whatever her abilities in those departments she has a great pair of legs - as Sam Higgins learns to his chagrin when she decides to make a fashion statement with his best pair of trousers. It's atmospheric and funny and by rights should have been granted a wider DVD release. Nancy Robertson (actress)

Nancy Robertson is a Canadian actress, best known for her roles as Wanda Dollard in the Canadian television series Corner Gas, and Millie Upton in the series Hiccups.

Early life

Robertson was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She studied drama during high school, and went on to attend the Breck Academy and The Vancouver Arts Club Theatre Program.

Career

Robertson's television career began with the CBC sketch comedy series The 11th Hour. She later played Harriet Sharpe, a temperamental parking attendant, in the mockumentary film The Delicate Art of Parking. Harriet's fellow parking attendant, Grant Parker, is played by Fred Ewanuick, who later co-starred with Robertson in Corner Gas. From 2004 to 2009, Robertson played Wanda Dollard, an intelligent and sarcastic gas station attendant, on the hit Canadian TV series Corner Gas. In 2010, Robertson's husband and Corner Gas co-star, Brent Butt created a new TV series, Hiccups. The show's lead role, a children's author with anger management issues, was not initially written with Robertson in mind, but upon reading the script, she decided to take on the role. The second and final season of Hiccups ended on August 28, 2011. Robertson plays the role of Principal Moreno in the TV movie, Radio Rebel.

When Channel 4 screened this one in the late eighties they were flooded with requests to repeat it. It's a 1955 British thriller made by Michael Powell before he got together with Pressburger. Gordon Harker plays light-keeper Sam Higgins sent to the Welsh coast to replace a murdered man. Binnie Hale stows away as over-imaginative would-be actress and reporter Alice Bright who frequently gets confused between her imaginings and the truth but scents a story at the lighthouse. Whatever her abilities in those departments she has a great pair of legs - as Sam Higgins learns to his chagrin when she decides to make a fashion statement with his best pair of trousers. It's atmospheric and funny and by rights should have been granted a wider DVD release. When Channel 4 screened this one in the late eighties they were flooded with requests to repeat it. It's a 1955 British thriller made by Michael Powell before he got together with Pressburger. Gordon Harker plays light-keeper Sam Higgins sent to the Welsh coast to replace a murdered man. Binnie Hale stows away as over-imaginative would-be actress and reporter Alice Bright who frequently gets confused between her imaginings and the truth but scents a story at the lighthouse. Whatever her abilities in those departments she has a great pair of legs - as Sam Higgins learns to his chagrin when she decides to make a fashion statement with his best pair of trousers. It's atmospheric and funny and by rights should have been granted a wider DVD release. When Channel 4 screened this one in the late eighties they were flooded with requests to repeat it. It's a 1955 British thriller made by Michael Powell before he got together with Pressburger. Gordon Harker plays light-keeper Sam Higgins sent to the Welsh coast to replace a murdered man. Binnie Hale stows away as over-imaginative would-be actress and reporter Alice Bright who frequently gets confused between her imaginings and the truth but scents a story at the lighthouse. Whatever her abilities in those departments she has a great pair of legs - as Sam Higgins learns to his chagrin when she decides to make a fashion statement with his best pair of trousers. It's atmospheric and funny and by rights should have been granted a wider DVD release. An upcoming book, titled “Love Triangle: Ronald Reagan, Jane Wyman, and Nancy Davis”, will be a biography about former American president Ronald Reagan. The book delves into Reagan’s time as a B-list Hollywood actor, prior to his career in politics. According to Darwin Porter, the author of the book, Reagan was involved with 50 or more women during this period in his life and some of them were, or went on to become, famous Hollywood movie actresses. Some of the actresses named in the book include Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Joan Blondell, and Lana Turner. Allegedly the ladies even had a nickname for the yet-to-be president, they called him the 40 minute man. It must’ve been a combination of experience and endurance that had the ladies tickled pink over the young Reagan. According to the book, Reagan was even able to satisfy Marilyn Monroe when he’d been laid up with a broken leg.
