Unicom System Architect is an enterprise architecture tool that is used by the business and technology departments of corporations and government agencies to model their business operations and the systems, applications, and databases that support them. System Architect is used to build architectures using various frameworks including TOGAF, DoDAF, MODAF and NAF.
Enterprise architecture (EA) is a mechanism for understanding all aspects of the organization, and planning for change. Those aspects include business transformation, business process rationalization, business or capability-driven solution development, application rationalization, transformation of IT to the cloud, server consolidation, service management and deployment, building systems of systems architectures, and so forth. Most simply, users use EA and System Architect to build diagrammatic and textual models of any and all aspects of their organization, including the who, what, where, when, why, and how things are done so they can understand the current situation, and plan for the future. Parts of the EA can be harvested from existing sources of information in the organization—auto-discovery of network architectures, database architectures, etc. The users building the models are typically enterprise architects, business architects, business analysts, data architects, software architects, and so forth. This information can be viewed by all stakeholders of the organization — including its workers, management, and outside vendors (depending on the level of access they have been granted to the information), through generation of the information to a static website, or enabling direct web-access to the information in the repository. The stakeholders can use this information to get answers to questions about the organization's architecture in the form of visual diagrams and reports that produce textual information, pie charts, and other dashboards.
A system is a set of interacting or interdependent component parts forming a complex/intricate whole. Every system is delineated by its spatial and temporal boundaries, surrounded and influenced by its environment, described by its structure and purpose and expressed in its functioning.
The term system may also refer to a set of rules that governs structure and/or behavior. Alternatively, and usually in the context of complex social systems, the term is used to describe the set of rules that govern structure and/or behavior.
The term "system" comes from the Latin word systēma, in turn from Greek σύστημα systēma: "whole compounded of several parts or members, system", literary "composition".
According to Marshall McLuhan,
"System" means "something to look at". You must have a very high visual gradient to have systematization. In philosophy, before Descartes, there was no "system". Plato had no "system". Aristotle had no "system".
In the 19th century the French physicist Nicolas Léonard Sadi Carnot, who studied thermodynamics, pioneered the development of the concept of a "system" in the natural sciences. In 1824 he studied the system which he called the working substance (typically a body of water vapor) in steam engines, in regards to the system's ability to do work when heat is applied to it. The working substance could be put in contact with either a boiler, a cold reservoir (a stream of cold water), or a piston (to which the working body could do work by pushing on it). In 1850, the German physicist Rudolf Clausius generalized this picture to include the concept of the surroundings and began to use the term "working body" when referring to the system.
An architect is a person who plans, designs, and oversees the construction of buildings. To practice architecture means to provide services in connection with the design and construction of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings, that have as their principal purpose human occupancy or use. Etymologically, architect derives from the Latin architectus, which derives from the Greek (arkhi-, chief + tekton, builder), i.e., chief builder.
Professionally, an architect's decisions affect public safety, and thus an architect must undergo specialized training consisting of advanced education and a practicum (or internship) for practical experience to earn a license to practice architecture. Practical, technical, and academic requirements for becoming an architect vary by jurisdiction (see below).
The terms architect and architecture are also used in the disciplines of landscape architecture, naval architecture and often information technology (for example a network architect or software architect). In most jurisdictions, the professional and commercial uses of the terms "architect" and "landscape architect" are legally protected.
System Engineers and System Architects work on different scales, and have different responsibilities. Much like in construction where an architect doesn't need to know how to hang dry wall to design a building that uses it.

What I love about my job is being able to develop complex systems comprising many different components and assemblies, where the technical and economic stakes are very high. I have an overall view of the product, and I work on getting it to match customer expectations, whether inside or outside the company.
Juval Lowy discusses the role of a modern software architect. In addition to system design, the architect must also take an active leadership role on process and technology, and be the technical manager of the project. Juval explains how to become an architect and how the architect should manager his career, what are the skills required of the modern architect and the Architect's Master Class.
Great Britain's electricity networks are entering a period of unprecedented change due to new forms of generation and radical changes to the way people use and store energy. The IET is helping to create a joint vision for tackling these challenges. The nation's energy infrastructure was designed on the basis that the demand for electricity was largely predictable, and that supply was controllable to meet this demand as it came from a small number of large power stations. In the future, this will no longer be the case. Renewable generation may be local and work when the wind blows or the sun shines. Increased demand for electric vehicles, electric heat pumps and other new uses for electricity will change future patterns of consumer demand. Smart meters, smart communities and increased hom...

How do you create a simple model in Enterprise Architect? What are the advantages of modeling in Enterprise Architect over a diagramming tool? This webinar is designed to help customers get started with Enterprise Architect. You will learn how to navigate a model, edit diagrams and create a simple model based on a familiar banking example. In this webinar, you will learn how to: * Convey visual ideas and outline the benefits of modeling in Enterprise Architect * Create packages, diagrams and model elements based on ready made patterns * Build UML diagrams to illustrate how a customer interacts with a banking system
This presentation was recorded at GOTO London 2016 http://gotoldn.com Eoin Woods - CTO at Endava ABSTRACT Security is an ever more important topic for system designers. As our world becomes digital, today’s safely-hidden back office system is tomorrow’s public API, open to anyone on the Internet with a hacking tool and time on their hands. So the days of hoping that security is someone else’s problem are over. The security community has developed a well understood set of principles used to build systems that are secure (or at least securable) by [...] Download slides and read the full abstract here: https://gotocon.com/london-2016/presentations/show_talk.jsp?oid=7928 https://twitter.com/gotoldn https://www.facebook.com/GOTOConference http://gotocon.com
Chair: Dahlia Malkhi Panel: Fernando J. Corbato, E. Allen Emerson, Joseph Sifakis, Ken Thompson Abstract More than any other area in computer science, the interaction and boundary between science and engineering is blurred in the systems area, with cross fertilization from both directions. The systems panel will explore the past, present and future relationship between systems research and engineering practice. Panel members will review their past award-winning research in perspective, and describe its impact on the computing world. They will discuss the relationship between systems research and engineering practices: when does systems innovation emanating from industry become an invention and when does academic research stop being science and become engineering? How does practice-driven...
