Gran Turismo 6 gameplay. The final round in the 15 Minute Races series at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in the Corvette ZR1 (C6) race car and it turned into a fantastic race. Quick summary - I had a pretty clean first lap with only a couple of minor mistakes. It was steady and consistent as opposed to fast, at 7m 15s. My second lap brought the one major mistake when I spun the car while in 2nd and chasing the leading McLaren F1 GTR. Fortunately I had enough of a gap over third and fourth so it didn't cost me a place, only time, leaving my second lap a touch slower at 7m 17s. The final lap was a real classic and a constant battle with the McLaren, resulting in the fastest lap of the three. After passing him at the beginning of lap three he stuck to my tail like glue, I just couldn't pull a gap on him and we swapped places several times. Just before we hit the final straight he took back the lead, I made a small error trying to close back up on him and thought the race was lost. I did regain the lead as we hit the straight but really expected to be beaten by his superior top end speed. Overall it was a really good race and I hope it's as enjoyable to watch as it was to drive. This race can be pretty challenging but there are a couple of important things to note. 1) The race will have to go to three laps. This means you have 7.5 minutes per lap to complete the first two laps. This is not too hard given the cars you are likely to be using, (PP limit is 650) provided you stay out of trouble with the traffic. 2) If you make it to lap three, your time doesn't matter. All you have to concentrate on is catching and overtaking the leader (if you haven't already) and then staying in front of him to the line. I've seen people catch and pass the leader within two laps but you don't need to do it. I've seen people win by over thirty seconds but again, you don't need to do it. Go for consistency over outright speed and you will be rewarded with the win. 3) Best approach is to concentrate on smooth driving and safe passing. Taking risks to pass will often result in crashes which will often cost you the race. To be honest though, the first time I did the run and got gold, I spun out 6 times and yet still beat the leader by a greater margin than in this race. This one was immensely more enjoyable though :-)
