Jon "Bowzer" Bauman (born September 14, 1947) is an American musician, best known as a member of the band Sha Na Na, and game show host. Bauman's popular Sha Na Na character, "Bowzer", was a gangly, slender-armed greaser in a muscle shirt.
Born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, Bauman started attending The Juilliard School at age 12 and is a 1964 graduate of Martin Van Buren H.S. in Queens Village, Queens. After his heyday with Sha Na Na, Bauman was a VJ on the music channel VH-1 during its first two years. He has appeared on several television series, such as Miami Vice, and has also done voiceovers for animated series, such as Animaniacs, and animated feature films, including My Little Pony: The Movie and The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones. He also hosted the Hollywood Squares half of the Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour. In addition, Bauman hosted The Pop 'N Rocker Game, a weekly syndicated rock 'n' roll game show, which launched a few weeks before the Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour premiered.
Na Na may refer to:
Sha Na Na is an American rock and roll group. The name is taken from a part of the long series of nonsense syllables in the doo-wop hit song "Get a Job", originally recorded in 1957 by the Silhouettes.
Billing themselves as "from the streets of New York" and outfitted in gold lamé, leather jackets, pompadour and ducktail hairdos, Sha Na Na performs a song and dance repertoire of classic fifties rock and roll, simultaneously reviving and parodying the music and 1950s New York street culture. Sha Na Na hosted the Sha Na Na syndicated variety series that ran from 1977 to 1981.
Their current touring group features original members Donny York and Jocko Marcellino, and long-time member Screamin' Scott Simon. Simon joined the band just after its appearance at the Woodstock Festival (1969). Everyone else from the original band and TV show has since departed. Current band members include bassist Tim Butler, guitarist Gene Jaramillo, drummer Paul Kimbarow, and sax player Michael Brown.

Full episode. Fun but short-lived musical quiz hosted by Jon "Bowzer" Bauman from Sha Na Na - AND WITH ANNOUNCER PHIL HARTMAN pre-SNL, the show featured a quiz wrapped around 2-3 music performances - in this show from early 1984, Irene Cara and Oingo Boingo perform. Fun fact: Irene's 2nd song performed, Why Me, is one of my personal favorite songs. :D As a bonus, the episode includes original commercials, including a promo for a pre-Kathie Lee Regis Philbin daytime show out of New York called The Morning Show. The show would eventually explode a few years later into the Live franchise.
The sign for Match Game almost ___________'s itself at the beginning of the show. Gene Rayburn has to help hoist it up into the Match Game sky. Jon Bauman, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Charlene Tilton, Bill Daily, and Patty Duke Astin
This episode is reuploaded in better quality. The woman are really trying to one up each other during the opening of today's show. They are clearly jealous of Charlene Tilton's Boobs!

Recorded on 9/20/2013 - Captured Live on Ustream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/american-radio
On April 17, 2007, Jon "Bowzer" Bauman of Sha Na Na spoke before the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media in support of Assemblymember Anthony Portantino's Assembly Bill 702, the Truth in Music Act. The bill would protect the public from falsely advertised performance groups by mandating that a musical or performance group contain at least one member of the original recording group, or hold a trademark from the original act, in order to publicly perform using the original group's name.
