"
Rembrandt, sad hospital that a murmuring fills,
Where one tall crucifix hangs on the walls,
Where every tear-drowned prayer some woe distils,
And one cold, wintry ray obliquely falls "
-------------------------------------------------------
Rembrandt's wife died, the
Night Watch was ripped from the wall and placed in some indecorous location, his friends deserted him and he was hounded into bankruptcy. In his final years no one would commission a painting from him. He was reduced to making self-portraits, which he did whenever he could cadge the necessary materials from his art-supply dealer. His only comforters were his son
Titus and his mistress Hendrickje, both of whom died in heartrending circumstances. Prematurely aged at 63, he passed away in such obscurity that the burghers, ob

Bruynzeel Calligraphy Pen Review
In this video I review a Bruynzeel calligraphy fountain pen set that offers some good value for the money. It comes with six nibs (
F, M, B, 4B, Scroll no. 4 and Scroll no. 6) and even a converter, so this should defnitely get you started with calligraphy! And it's
Dutch ;-).
Also, I demonstrate how all the different nibs write. And it's Dutch ;-)!
I hope this is useful! Did I mention this pen is Dutch?

Nib materials: is gold better than steel?
In this video, I talk about different fountain pen nib materials. I am often asked whether gold nibs are better than steel ones. In my experience, they can be better, but it depends on what you expect, and what you need. I use a number of nibs to try and demonstrate the
difference between steel, gold-plated, solid gold (14, 18, and 21k), titanium, and palladium nibs.
The close-up of a nib and feed was taken by
Alex Hackmann.

Ivan Frederick Boesky (born March 6,
1937) is an
American stock trader who is notable for his prominent role in a Wall Street insider trading scandal that occurred in the United States in the mid-1980s.
The character of
Gordon Gekko in the
1987 movie Wall Street is based at least in part on Boesky, especially regarding a famous speech he delivered on the positive aspects of greed at the
University of California, Berkeley School of Business commencement ceremony in May
1986, where he said in part "I think greed is healthy. You can be greedy and still feel good about yourself".
In a
1993 episode of
Animaniacs entitled "
Plane Pals",
Yakko, Wakko, and Dot harass a tightly-wound Wall Street accountant named
Ivan Blowsky, when he is forced to sit next to them on an airplane.
The character
Charlotte, a high-stakes
CEO, on
Rugrats has two fish in her office named "Boesky" and "Vesco".
Boesky is mentioned in the episode
Last Days of the television series
Sliders: after an asteroid fails to destroy the
Earth of the dimension they are in,
Rembrandt Brown sees an article in a newspaper stating that Boesky had bought half of the houses in
Beverly Hills for $10,
000 dollars apiece, and that the erstwhile owners want their houses back
.
In the 2001 film Ocean's Eleven,
Brad Pitt's character,
Rusty Ryan, mentions a type of confidence scam termed "a Boesky" that involves a wealthy bankroller with insider information.
In
The Shield,
Vic Mackey states that there will be a "money laundering operation which would make
Ivan Boesky flinch".
In
Season 2,
Episode 3 of "
Psych" ("
Psy vs. Psy"), the
Federal Treasury agent claims to have arrested Ivan Boesky himself.
In the novel
American Psycho,
Craig McDermott wins a halloween costume party dressed as Ivan Boesky.
In the episode of
Futurama,
Future Stock, an 80s Wall Street character, reminiscent of Gordon Gekko, said of his glory days: "I was having whisky with Boesky and cookies with Milken."
Famous hacker
Kevin Mitnick recollects his encounters with Boesky in the prison in his book
Ghost in the Wires.
In the musical
The Wedding Singer (based on the
Adam Sandler/
Drew Barrymore movie), the character
Glen Guglia mentions that "Boesky bought half, and if Ivan's buying, you know it's in the money."
Gump & Co., the sequel to novel
Forrest Gump by
Winston Groom, had the protagonist Forrest Gump being hired by "Ivan Bozosky".
Gump also later begins to wonder how he is being able to command such a high salary for only having to

I use multiple pens when I'm studying and tend to just leave the caps off my pens as I'm switching between them. I was using my Lamy Al

54th Massachusetts and it doesn't seem to tolerate it as well. Could you recommend some black, brown-black, or blue-black (or even just straight up blue) inks that are a bit more tolerant to having the cap off for a few minutes? Is there a term that refers to this property so I can search for it on your site?
Thanks so much!

In this week's episode, I give you a preview of the
Pilot Con-40 converter, I pontificate how many pens it would take to reach the moon, and I tell you the best inks that no one every talks about.

What are your thoughts on the newly designed pilot Con-40? Have you had a chance to test it out yet?
2) Amy P.-
Facebook - (15:30)
Just getting into the whole fountain pen thing and I would like to use different inks more often. What's the best way to switch inks? Only put in a little when you fill it? Can you put unused ink back into the bottle/sample vials? Are there small capacity pens?
3) Agnieszka P.- Facebook - (21:36)
After falling in love with the metropolitan (purple retro pop) compared to my first purchase of a Lamy safari (ef nib) what would be the next step forward in the fine/ef range - the vanishing
point? The customs? Where do
I go next?
Ink - (27:29)
4) Cathleen C- YouTube - (27:31)
I use multiple pens when I'm studying and tend to just leave the caps off my pens as I'm switching between them. I was using my Lamy Al
Star with the cartridge that came with the pen and it seemed to tolerate having the cap off for a little bit. I just switched to the converter with Noodler's

Prematurely aged at 63, he passed away in such obscurity that the burghers, observing his pathetic funeral, inquired, 'Who was he ?'
However, even at that dark hour the mills of the gods were slowly grinding, and in our own time the verdict in favor of Rembrandt's greatness has been amply reaffirmed by the trustees of
New York's Metropolitan Museum, who not long ago paid 52.3 million for his

Homer and were very lucky to get it at the price. Indeed, as the
Metropolitan's director
Thomas Hoving recently remarked, '
Look at that chain [on
Aristotle's shoulder]. That alone is worth two million three!'
Rembrandt, like
Shakespeare uses his art to convey ideas which apply to human beings of all times and all cultures.
Great art is, in this sense, timeless.
Élie Faure, the
French art critic and historian, wrote this of Rembrandt and his work: 'His humanity is truly formidable, it is fatal like lament, love; change continues, indifferent and dramatic, between all that is born and all that dies. He follows our steps to death in the traces of blood which mark them. He does not pity us, he does not comfort us, because he is with us, because he is us.'

Mark Hollis Talk Talk Tomorrow Started OIL PAINT Colors 1 The Magi
You can hear the Music:
Future Africa & Drums by
Laszlo Bolender.
I suppose you guessed what I was listening to while painting.
When I paint like this, it is not only applying colors and using a technique, I also must convey the passion and the loving heart that I can hear and feel in this specific Music.
This video is the follow-up of previous videos which are:

The Supplies used in this video are:
Oil
Paint Titanium White (
Amsterdam, Talens)
Oil Paint
Primary Yellow (
Lukas Studio)
Oil Paint
Cadmium Orange (
Rembrandt)
Oil Paint
Permanent Madder
Brown (Rembrandt)
Oil Paint
Peach Black (Lefranc&Bourgeois;)
Venitian
Medium (Lefranc&Bourgeois;) to make the paints dry a little faster, it also avoids the paints to crackle with time.
Mineral Spirit (that you can replace with
Turpentine)
Brushes of different sizes: Bristles + 1 dry fluffy Bristle Brush to blend the colors.
A Rag to remove the paint from the fluffy brush while blending.
DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored video. I only talk about what I love and the products I use, for your information. Any other brand of paints will be fine, it is up to you to decide what brand you prefer. However, I will highly recommend this particular Venitian Medium which is my favorite ever. But this is just my humble opinion.
