A patient is any recipient of health care services. The patient is most often ill or injured and in need of treatment by a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, veterinarian, or other health care provider.
The word patient originally meant 'one who suffers'. This English noun comes from the Latin word patiens, the present participle of the deponent verb, patior, meaning 'I am suffering,' and akin to the Greek verb πάσχειν (= paskhein, to suffer) and its cognate noun πάθος (= pathos).
An outpatient (or out-patient) is a patient who is not hospitalized for 24 hours or more but who visits a hospital, clinic, or associated facility for diagnosis or treatment. Treatment provided in this fashion is called ambulatory care. Outpatient surgery eliminates inpatient hospital admission, reduces the amount of medication prescribed, and uses the physician's time more efficiently. More procedures are now being performed in a surgeon's office, termed office-based surgery, rather than in a hospital-based operating room. Outpatient surgery is suited best for healthy patients undergoing minor or intermediate procedures (limited urologic, ophthalmologic, or ear, nose, and throat procedures and procedures involving the extremities).

What are Binaurals? Binaural beats were originally discovered in 1839 by physicist Heinrich Wilhelm Dove. He discovered when signals of two different frequencies are presented separately, one to each ear, your brain detects the phase variation between the frequencies and tries to reconcile that difference.
Research has proven that introducing a binaural beat will cause the brain to begin resonating in tune with that beat. By creating a binaural beat at 10 Hz — an Alpha frequency — you can trigger your brain to resonate at that same 10 Hz frequency, automatically inducing brain activity in the Alpha range. This same technique can be used to quickly and easily guide your mind into any state.

Demonstrating Hand exercises with Patient Inder Pal. He had a ICA and MCA Brain Hemorrhage On April 2014. Initially his speech was gone, during acute onset followed by hemiplegia on right side.
He is under going Physiotherapy sessions with Prodyut Das for last 2 months and has improved drastically. His right leg is totally normal now, with near normal gait pattern. The right arm had zero muscle power, when we started and now you can see the difference.

Increased joint resistance is an important phenomenon in patients with cerebral palsy (CP), and is caused by a combination of neural and non-neural components. Spasticity is part of the neural component and is typically defined as velocity-dependent hyperactivity to passive stretch. Contracture can be defined as the non-neural component of hyper-resistance, and is due to increased passive tissue stiffness. In this webinar, we present and validate an individually tuneable model for hyper-resistance in CP. We examine how well contracture can be modeled just by modifying the passive muscle properties and describe our new velocity-dependent spas -

In a study out of the University of Pittsburgh, 22 males and six females coming off of mechanical ventilation after at least four days were given a "musical intervention," meaning they were allowed to listen to music of their choice every other day during six days of weaning trials, reports HCP Live. Patients, at least 21 with an average age of 62.5, saw no major changes in their blood oxygen levels or average blood pressure when they were given headsets. What fascinated researchers, however, were the dramatic decreases in respiratory rate, anxiety, and dyspnea, or impaired breathing, during days the patients listened to songs. A patient who suddenly loses the support of a ventilator may feel stressed or insecure breathing on their own. "Having patients listen to music during these trials may help reduce stress and speed up extubation," the lead author explains in a press release. The patients, who'd spent an average of 39 days at a long-term acute care hospital, were monitored for 30 minutes before the music began, then for an hour as it played, as well as over 90 minutes on days music was omitted. An Individually Tuneable Model of Spasticity and Contracture in Patients with CP
Increased joint resistance is an important phenomenon in patients with cerebral palsy (CP), and is caused by a combination of neural and non-neural components. Spasticity is part of the neural component and is typically defined as velocity-dependent hyperactivity to passive stretch. Contracture can be defined as the non-neural component of hyper-resistance, and is due to increased passive tissue stiffness. In this webinar, we present and validate an individually tuneable model for hyper-resistance in CP. We examine how well contracture can be modeled just by modifying the passive muscle properties and describe our new velocity-dependent spasticity model, which has been implemented as a plug-in in OpenSim (https://simtk.org/home/spasticitymodel).- published: 22 May 2015
