Stem may refer to:
A knife (plural knives) is a tool with a cutting edge or blade, hand-held or otherwise, with most having a handle. Some types of knives are used as utensils, including knives used at the dining table (e.g., butter knives and steak knives) and knives used in the kitchen (e.g., paring knife, bread knife, cleaver). Many types of knives are used as tools, such as the utility knife carried by soldiers, the pocket knife carried by hikers and the hunting knife used by hunters. Knives are also used as a traditional or religious implement, such as the kirpan. Some types of knives are used as weapons, such as the daggers used by commandos or the switchblades used by 1950s-era criminal gang members. Some types of knives are used as sports equipment (e.g., throwing knives).
Knife-like tools were used at least two-and-a-half million years ago, as evidenced by the Oldowan tools. Originally made of rock, bone, flint, and obsidian, knives have evolved in construction as technology has, with blades being made from bronze, copper, iron, steel, ceramics, and titanium. Many cultures have their unique version of the knife. Due to its role as humankind's first tool, certain cultures have attached spiritual and religious significance to the knife.

99% of the Japanese restaurants or restaurants serving sushi (including ours) will never serve you real wasabi. Why? Because it's very expensive and most of us don't even know that it exists. Wasabi plants are found along shaded mountainous terrain where running water is. Nowadays, there are places that grow wasabi that are outside Japan; youtube wasabi plant to watch some great videos. To enjoy fresh wasabi, look for a shark skin grater or if not, a micro grater will also work. Shave the outside of the skin to reveal the stem, and then with a circular motion, apply some pressure until a paste forms. This is your fresh ground wasabi that's potent for about 20 minutes. If you've never had it, and more than likely you haven't, you'll need to search deep and wide for an authentic Japanes...

Since the Mayan calendar ended on December 21, 2012 and a lot of people were worried about the end of the world, why not share some original old Mayan knives and daggers from Central America? These ancient stone age artifacts were all legally obtained from old collections at gun shows , antique shops, artifact shows, and internet sites. The first two are bifacially flaked flint knives that originally would have been mounted or hafted into a handle of some sort. The black obsidian pieces in the middle are razor blades and blade cores. Obsidian blades made using core and blade technology are sharper than modern razor blades and were used for many different things including shaving and weaponry. The last 3 Mayan daggers are known as "stemmed macro blades" which are large and sharp stone b...
I recently got to try this Hampton Forge Tomodachi 12pc Splash Set for free through Tomoson. And I was so excited when I got them because I've always wanted a set of these knives! What makes these stand out from the rest is the bright pictures on them to show what each knife is for! Which is awesome because I'd forget. These are pretty sturdy. They didn't bend, even when I cut something hard like a raw potato. They are easy to clean by hand but are dishwasher safe. I prefer to wash by hand because knives will last longer that way. I love how each comes with a cover you can slide it into. This is great because these knives are pretty sharp. I can't wait to cut something else with these. It's making me want to cut up everything. It definitely makes being in the kitchen more fun and all m...
