The 28mm f2 is the sharpest at 3700 lines of resolution on the a6000. The Sigma 30mm has 3600 and the Sony
Macro 30 has 3500 and the Sony 35 f1.8 is 3450. All are considered excellent in the center but the 28mm f2 has better corners at 3100 the rest average 2700. The 28mm f2 is also sharpest wide open.

REVIEWING TODAY! There's some interest in the Canon 28mm f/1.8 lens, especially as it's a potentially nice, leave-on-your-camera fast standard lens for APS-C cameras. Some people really like it, although it seems to have mixed reviews on the internet. I wonder if this little beast can kick some ass as I put it through a few tests.

Today I got my hands on the NEW Nikon 28mm 1.8G AFS Lens with Nano coating. This was a surprise announcement from Nikon a few months back and I have to say its a very interesting lens. This lens is designed for FX camera but being that it is an AFS it will work on ALL DX camera bodies. Though I will say I think it performs much better on the full frame sensor.
This lens feels very light but it still feels well built. You have one switch on the side that allows you to go from AF to M. There is a simple large focus ring and pretty much not much more on the lens. One very important feature of this lens is that it has Nano Coating. Nano coating is a special coating on the lens elements that pretty much negates all lens flair. You can honestly point it right at the sun or a bright light and never see any issues with flaring.
At $699.99 this is a pro lens geared toward that professional photographer who is looking for a light fast aperture lens in their bag. This honestly is not a portrait lens but it is great for photo journalistic work. If you are looking to crush the background of a photo, dial down to 1.8 fill the grame with your subject and boom, the background butters away.
For those who are on DX camera the effective focal length of this lens is 42mm which is ok but not as special as what it is full frame, 28mm. I would not fully recommend this on a DX body unless you already own all of the other staple lenses. Those lenses for me would be a 17-50 2.8 and 70-200 2.8. If your looking for something not as expensive you can always pick up the Nikon 35mm F1.8.
All and all this is a solid lens that is light, sharp and fast. This would be a great addition to any photographers bag.

THE FINAL WORD: If you’re a wedding shooter or if you shoot in low light situations frequently, and you need a moderately wide angle lens, then look no further than the Nikon 28mm f/1.8, sure, it’s not without it’s faults, as the build quality is just mediocre plastic. The optical shortcomings - vignetting, chromatic aberrations - are fixable with just a few clicks in programs like Lightroom 6. Sure it’s an extra step or two, but this lens is also 1/3 the price of the pro level 35mm f/1.4. Its not the cheapest G lens, its actually one of the most expensive, but even then it’s still a really excellent price to value relationship.

In this highly detailed review of the Sony FE 28mm f/2 Lens I will do my best to show you what it is capable of in the real world and lab. I will first show you the gear and how the conversion lenses mount/ release. Then onto real world sample photos and much more....
The conversion lenses mount on the front of the 28mm lens and basically transform it into a 21mm f/2.8 ultra wide angle lens or a 16mm f/3.5 fisheye lens. You will see what I mean in the video if not familier.

28 mm film was introduced by the Pathé Film Company in 1912 under the name Pathé Kok. Geared toward the home market, 28 mm utilized diacetate film stock rather than the flammable nitrate commonly used in 35 mm. The film gauge was deliberately chosen such that it would be uneconomical to slit 35 mm nitrate film.
Pathé in France and later Victor in the USA printed reduction prints (usually, although not always, abridged) of popular films for home rental, designed to be used in Pathéscope Cinematograph or Victor Animatograph projectors. By 1918, over 10,000 projectors had been sold and more than 20,000,000 feet of film printed.
World War I stopped European production of 28 mm. It continued in North America until 1920 before ceasing entirely. Shortly after, 9.5 mm and 16 mm would take the amateur film gauge role 28 mm had once filled.

Sony 28mm f2 FE Lens Review SEL28f20 Tested on the A6000 and A7R. Very Capable lens to either love or hate! Here is a review and Quick Test. It's staying in my bag. $450. But it here on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1RemLfW The 28mm f2 is the sharpest at 3700 lines of resolution on the a6000. The Sigma 30mm has 3600 and the Sony Macro 30 has 3500 and the Sony 35 f1.8 is 3450. All are considered excellent in the center but the 28mm f2 has better corners at 3100 the rest average 2700. The 28mm f2 is also sharpest wide open. -

This was a surprise announcement from Nikon a few months back and I have to say its a very interesting lens. This lens is designed for FX camera but being that it is an AFS it will work on ALL DX camera bodies. Though I will say I think it performs much better on the full frame sensor. This lens feels very light but it still feels well built. You have one switch on the side that allows you to go from AF to M. Nikon 28mm 1.8G Review
I take a look at Nikon's newly introduced 28mm 1.8G. This is a very unique lens, it is not only a moderate wide-angle but it also features a fast F/1.8 aperture. This allows shallow depth of field not typically found in a wide-angle lens. The construction of this lens features Nikon's Nano Crystal Coating to help keep flare and ghosting under control. This lens is made up of 11 elements in 9 groups (two elements are aspherical). Unlike the more expensive 24mm 1.4G this lens does not feature ED glass elements. Despite the lack of ED glass this lens still performs well when shot wide open. Because this is an AF-S lens it will autofocus on entry level Nikon bodies that do not have a built in focusing motor. At a price of $700 USD this lens is a good alternative to the $2200 USD 24mm 1...

The 28mm f2 is the sharpest at 3700 lines of resolution on the a6000. The Sigma 30mm has 3600 and the Sony

REVIEWING TODAY! There's some interest in the Canon 28mm f/1.8 lens, especially as it's a potentially nice, leave-on-your-camera fast standard lens for APS-C cameras. Some people really like it, although it seems to have mixed reviews on the internet. I wonder if this little beast can kick some ass as I put it through a few tests.

Today I got my hands on the NEW Nikon 28mm 1.8G AFS Lens with Nano coating. This was a surprise announcement from Nikon a few months back and I have to say its a very interesting lens. This lens is designed for FX camera but being that it is an AFS it will work on ALL DX camera bodies. Though I will say I think it performs much better on the full frame sensor.
This lens feels very light but it still feels well built. You have one switch on the side that allows you to go from AF to M. There is a simple large focus ring and pretty much not much more on the lens. One very important feature of this lens is that it has Nano Coating. Nano coating is a special coating on the lens elements that pretty much negates all lens flair. You can honestly point it right at the sun or a bright light and never see any issues with flaring.
At $699.99 this is a pro lens geared toward that professional photographer who is looking for a light fast aperture lens in their bag. This honestly is not a portrait lens but it is great for photo journalistic work. If you are looking to crush the background of a photo, dial down to 1.8 fill the grame with your subject and boom, the background butters away.
For those who are on DX camera the effective focal length of this lens is 42mm which is ok but not as special as what it is full frame, 28mm. I would not fully recommend this on a DX body unless you already own all of the other staple lenses. Those lenses for me would be a 17-50 2.8 and 70-200 2.8. If your looking for something not as expensive you can always pick up the Nikon 35mm F1.8.
All and all this is a solid lens that is light, sharp and fast. This would be a great addition to any photographers bag.

THE FINAL WORD: If you’re a wedding shooter or if you shoot in low light situations frequently, and you need a moderately wide angle lens, then look no further than the Nikon 28mm f/1.8, sure, it’s not without it’s faults, as the build quality is just mediocre plastic. The optical shortcomings - vignetting, chromatic aberrations - are fixable with just a few clicks in programs like Lightroom 6. Sure it’s an extra step or two, but this lens is also 1/3 the price of the pro level 35mm f/1.4. Its not the cheapest G lens, its actually one of the most expensive, but even then it’s still a really excellent price to value relationship.

I take a look at Nikon's newly introduced 28mm 1.8G. This is a very unique lens, it is not only a moderate wide-angle but it also features a fast F/1.8 aperture. This allows shallow depth of field not typically found in a wide-angle lens. The construction of this lens features Nikon's Nano Crystal Coating to help keep flare and ghosting under control. This lens is made up of 11 elements in 9 groups (two elements are aspherical). Unlike the more expensive 24mm 1.4G this lens does not feature ED glass elements. Despite the lack of ED glass this lens still performs well when shot wide open. Because this is an AF-S lens it will autofocus on entry level Nikon bodies that do not have a built in focusing motor. At a price of $700 USD this lens is a good alternative to the $2200 USD 24mm 1.4G. Despite the lower asking price it offers similar performance and represents a great value for the money.
