Dion started a two-week run at No.1 on the U.S. singles music chart in 1961 with “Runaround Sue”. The song is co-written by Dion and Ernie Maresca and tells the story of a disloyal lover. “Run Around Sue” ranked No.342 on the Rolling Stone list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”. The song was later covered by Leif Garrett in 1977. In 1978 Leif’s song reached No.13 on the Billboard, No.18 on Cash Box and No.15 in Canada ... No.1 ... No.1 hit....

It's not a rarity in the world of American popular music for recording artists to attain success using a one-word stage name on record labels and in public performances.
