Editor Gary Levy, ACE Discusses the balance between comedy and drama in "Nurse Jackie" from "Sight, Sound & Story" 2014.
Gary Levy, ACE has been editing TV shows and feature films since 1999. He recently finished season 6 of Showtime’s "Nurse Jackie," for which he won an ACE Eddy award in 2013 for best edited half-hour series. Gary has also worked on the last 3 seasons of USA’s "Royal Pains." Previous TV credits include NBC’s "The Office," FOX’s "Running Wilde," and "Life is Wild" for the CW.
Gary has edited many Feature films including "Face" for director Bertha Bay-Sa Pan, which screened in competition at the Sundance Film festival; "Just a Kiss" for director Fisher Stevens; "Maze," directed by Rob Morrow; and "Maryam" for director Ramin Serry. He was also an editor on the Farrelly brothers’ "Outside Providence." As the Visual Effects Editor on Ang Lee’s "Hulk," Gary worked with kinetic multiple panel layouts and helped bring computer generated scenes from storyboard to completion.
"Nurse Jackie" is an American medical dark satirical comedy-drama series. It premiered on Showtime on June 8, 2009. The show's seventh and final season will premiere in 2015. The show stars Edie Falco as the title character Jackie Peyton, an emergency department nurse at All Saints' Hospital in New York City. For Jackie, "every day is a high wire act of juggling patients, doctors, fellow nurses, and her own indiscretions."

Roger Joseph Ebert (
/ˈiːbərt/; born June 18, 1942) is an American journalist, film critic and screenwriter. He is the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.
Ebert is known for his film review column (appearing in the Chicago Sun-Times since 1967, and later online) and for the television programs Sneak Previews, At the Movies with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, and Siskel and Ebert and The Movies, all of which he co-hosted for a combined 23 years with Gene Siskel. After Siskel's death in 1999, Ebert teamed with Richard Roeper for the television series Ebert & Roeper & the Movies, which began airing in 2000. Although his name remained in the title, Ebert did not appear on the show after mid-2006 after he suffered post-surgical complications related to thyroid cancer, leaving him unable to speak. Ebert ended his association with the show in July 2008, but in February 2009 he stated that he and Roeper would continue their work on a new show. Ebert's current show, Ebert Presents: At the Movies, premiered on January 21, 2011, with Ebert contributing a review voiced by someone else in a brief segment called "Roger's Office".

Gary Levy, ACE has been editing TV shows and feature films since 1999. He recently finished season 6 of Showtime’s "Nurse Jackie," for which he won an ACE Eddy award in 2013 for best edited half-hour series. Gary has also worked on the last 3 seasons of USA’s "Royal Pains." Previous TV credits include NBC’s "The Office," FOX’s "Running Wilde," and "Life is Wild" for the CW.
Gary has edited many Feature films including "Face" for director Bertha Bay-Sa Pan, which screened in competition at the Sundance Film festival; "Just a Kiss" for director Fisher Stevens; "Maze," directed by Rob Morrow; and "Maryam" for director Ramin Serry. He was also an editor on the Farrelly brothers’ "Outside Providence." As the Visual Effects Editor on Ang Lee’s "Hulk," Gary worked with kinetic multiple panel layouts and helped bring computer generated scenes from storyboard to completion.
"Nurse Jackie" is an American medical dark satirical comedy-drama series. It premiered on Showtime on June 8, 2009. The show's seventh and final season will premiere in 2015. The show stars Edie Falco as the title character Jackie Peyton, an emergency department nurse at All Saints' Hospital in New York City. For Jackie, "every day is a high wire act of juggling patients, doctors, fellow nurses, and her own indiscretions."

"Sight Sound and Story" is an annual event presented by Manhattan Edit Workshop that brings audiences "behind the scenes" with legends of visual storytelling. Each year the one day summit brings together a collection of diverse and intriguing high-profile speaker series to discuss the evolving world of post-production. Panels topics include the art and processes of editing film & television, exploring ground-breaking interactive media, experiencing the magic of feature sound design, taking a look at the vital roles of the VFX artist, and deconstructing key scenes from fiction and documentary favorites.
