15 killed, many injured in road accidents in Agra and Firozabad

AGRA/FIROZABAD: In two separate road accidents, total 15 people were killed and more than two dozen injured in Agra and Firozabad.

In the first accident which took place near Bamba crossing on new Bypass under Uttar police station in Firozabad district on late Friday night, dozen people killed who were participating in a marriage procession.

According police, a speeding canter lost its control and rammed into motorbike, then in a tempo before crushing men who were dancing in the marriage procession on Kotla road. The heavy vehicle came to a halt only after hitting an electricity pole.

Station officer, Shashikant Sharma of Uttar police station said, "It is unclear whether the accused driver Shivam was inebriated while driving or not, because the speed at which he hit the victims on road was pretty high. Even we took nearly an hour to extract him out from the mangled canter."

"The driver survived the accident, but is in comma, while four other victims of accident are in ICU. Total 12 people died in the accident, while 15 have been injured," he added.

The names of deceased are has followed; Anuj (18),Neeraj (18), Sumit (20), Santosh (25), Manoj (42), Kalua (18), Vakil (30), Bhupinder (46), Narendar (30), Krishna (25), Baldev (28) and Manish (26).

According to police, an FIR has been lodged under IPC section 304A (Causing death by negligence), 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) against the accused driver.

In similar sort of road accident on Saturday morning, three people, including a woman, were killed while eight were injured.


The accident took place near Gadmukhaa area of Kagraul of Agra, when a speeding minivan ferrying passengers turn turtle on road.


According to station officer Mukesh Rawat, "The minivan was over loaded with passengers. After the accident, the unidentified driver flees from the spot. We have booked him under 304 A, 279, 337 and 338 of IPC."


In the accident, Lalit (12), Saroj (55) and Rohan (10) were killed, while Prem, Akash, Raju, Yogendar, Arunav, Sahar, Khelam, Saurab and Lalit were injured who were taken to government hospital.
