A very interesting interview indeed in English. This interview took place in 1969 in New York, and Nasser died the following year in 1970. Nasser comes across as very calm, very gentle, easy going and very reasonable. His English is very good (I was in fact surprised to hear how good his English was!) He spoke about how the Zionist state was causing so much havoc in the Arab region for twenty years. It has now exceeded sixty years and counting...
SHOCKING: Nasser mentioned in this interview that 'the Jews' were his cousins and that Moses was born in Egypt and that Muslims, Christians and Jews lived in harmony before the advent of Zionism. He was so WRONG! The European Jews are just as alien to Palestine as the Italians were to Ethiopia and the English to Egypt. He could as easily have said that the English colonizers of Egypt were his cousins as well, since the English were Christians and Christian Egyptians did and do live in Egypt. But the difference is that the Christians in Egypt are Egyptians whereas the English, though Christians, were Europeans, foreigners and occupiers with zero connection to Egypt in any way-shape-form. The exact logic applies to the EUROPEAN Ashkenazi Jews that used to be scattered around the globe but are now concentrated on stolen Palestine and the USA! . How could Nasser have made such an insane statement? I wonder!
People need to have a clear understanding that the so-called Jews are Africans, Asians, Europeans and Arabs. They could not all be the same people, and hence there exists zero possibility of any Ashkenazi Jew having a biologic connection to any Arabs of the Middle East (be it Arab Jews or Arab Muslims or Arab Christians). But the European Ashkenazi Jews who now make up more than 90% of world Jewry and more than 95% of North American Jewry are a people. They are the same European people who used to be known as Khazars before they started their exodus out of their homeland of Khazaria towards Eastern and then Western Europe.

Gamal Abdel Nasser Hussein (15 January 1918 -- 28 September 1970) was the second President of Egypt, serving from 1956 until his death. He planned the 1952 overthrow of the monarchy, and was deputy prime minister in the new government. In 1953, Nasser introduced far-reaching land reforms. Following a 1954 Muslim Brotherhood-led attempt on his life, he ordered a crackdown on the organization, put President Muhammad Naguib under house arrest, and assumed executive office. A June 1956 public referendum approved both the new constitution and Nasser's nomination for presidency.
Nasser's neutralist policies during the Cold War led to tense relations with Western powers, which withdrew funding for the planned Aswan Dam. Nasser's retaliatory move to nationalize the Suez Canal Company in 1956 was acclaimed within Egypt and the Arab world. Consequently, Britain, France, and Israel occupied the Sinai Peninsula, but withdrew amid international pressure, boosting Nasser's political standing significantly. From then on, Nasser's popularity in the region grew substantially and calls for pan-Arab unity under his leadership increased, culminating with the formation of the United Arab Republic with Syria (1958--1961).
In 1962, Nasser began a series of major socialist measures and modernization reforms in Egypt. Despite setbacks to his pan-Arabist cause, by 1963 Nasser's supporters gained power in several Arab countries. He also became embroiled in the North Yemen Civil War. Nasser introduced a new constitution in 1964, the same year he became president of the international Non-Aligned Movement. He began his second presidential term in March 1965 after all his political opponents were legally forbidden from running. Following Egypt's concessions to Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War, Nasser resigned only to retake office after popular demonstrations called for his reinstatement. Between the 1967 defeat and 1968, Nasser appointed himself prime minister, launched a war to regain lost territory, began a process of depoliticizing the military, and issued a set of political liberalization reforms.
After the conclusion of the 1970 Arab League summit, Nasser suffered a heart attack and died. His funeral in Cairo drew five million mourners and an outpouring of grief across the Arab world. Nasser remains an iconic figure and symbol of Arab dignity in the present day, particularly for his strides towards social justice and Arab unity, modernization policies, and anti-imperialist efforts. His presidency also encouraged and coincided with an Egyptian cultural boom, particularly in the arts. Nasser's detractors criticize his authoritarianism, his government's human rights violations, his populist relationship with the citizenry, and his failure to establish civil institutions, blaming his legacy for future dictatorial governance in Egypt. Historians describe Nasser as one of the towering political figures of the Middle East in the 20th century.

When I first published the video, I had the title " Death of Jamal Abdel..." with "J" rather than "G" as it should be in proper arabic. But then I got contacted by an Egyptian youtube user and he wrote:
"A very moving video.One problem though - you refer to him in the title of the video as "Jamal" rather than "Gamal". As you know, Egyptian Arabic is spoken with geem rather than jeem, and Nasser NEVER referred to himself as "Jamal". Indeed, when his written works were published in languages using the Latin alphabet (such as English), he insisted on his name being correctly spelt as "Gamal".
Perhaps you would be so kind as to correct the title."
Immediately I changed it and replied: "Done !"
As when it comes to man's well, there is no such thing proper language, especially when dealing with a man with a free well, and he was so.

Nasser comes across as very calm, very gentle, easy going and very reasonable. His English is very good (I was in fact surprised to hear how good his English was!) He spoke about how the Zionist state was causing so much havoc in the Arab region for twenty years. It has now exceeded sixty years and counting... SHOCKING: Nasser mentioned in this interview that 'the Jews' were his cousins and that Moses was born in Egypt and that Muslims, Christians and Jews lived in harmony before the advent of Zionism. He planned the 1952 overthrow of the monarchy, and was deputy prime minister in the new government. In 1953, Nasser introduced far-reaching land reforms. Nasser comes across as very calm, very gentle, easy going and very reasonable. His English is very good (I was in fact surprised to hear how good his English was!) He spoke about how the Zionist state was causing so much havoc in the Arab region for twenty years. It has now exceeded sixty years and counting...
SHOCKING: Nasser mentioned in this interview that 'the Jews' were his cousins and that Moses was born in Egypt and that Muslims, Christians and Jews lived in harmony before the advent of Zionism. He was so WRONG! The European Jews are just as alien to Palestine as the Italians were to Ethiopia and the English to Egypt. He could as easily have said that the English colonizers of Egypt were his cousins as well, since the English were Christians and Christian Egyptians did and do live in Egypt. But the difference is that the Christians in Egypt are Egyptians whereas the English, though Christians, were Europeans, foreigners and occupiers with zero connection to Egypt in any way-shape-form. The exact logic applies to the EUROPEAN Ashkenazi Jews that used to be scattered around the globe but are now concentrated on stolen Palestine and the USA! . How could Nasser have made such an insane statement? I wonder!
People need to have a clear understanding that the so-called Jews are Africans, Asians, Europeans and Arabs. They could not all be the same people, and hence there exists zero possibility of any Ashkenazi Jew having a biologic connection to any Arabs of the Middle East (be it Arab Jews or Arab Muslims or Arab Christians). But the European Ashkenazi Jews who now make up more than 90% of world Jewry and more than 95% of North American Jewry are a people. They are the same European people who used to be known as Khazars before they started their exodus out of their homeland of Khazaria towards Eastern and then Western Europe.

Gamal Abdel Nasser Hussein (15 January 1918 -- 28 September 1970) was the second President of Egypt, serving from 1956 until his death. He planned the 1952 overthrow of the monarchy, and was deputy prime minister in the new government. In 1953, Nasser introduced far-reaching land reforms. Following a 1954 Muslim Brotherhood-led attempt on his life, he ordered a crackdown on the organization, put President Muhammad Naguib under house arrest, and assumed executive office. A June 1956 public referendum approved both the new constitution and Nasser's nomination for presidency.
Nasser's neutralist policies during the Cold War led to tense relations with Western powers, which withdrew funding for the planned Aswan Dam. Nasser's retaliatory move to nationalize the Suez Canal Company in 1956 was acclaimed within Egypt and the Arab world. Consequently, Britain, France, and Israel occupied the Sinai Peninsula, but withdrew amid international pressure, boosting Nasser's political standing significantly. From then on, Nasser's popularity in the region grew substantially and calls for pan-Arab unity under his leadership increased, culminating with the formation of the United Arab Republic with Syria (1958--1961).
In 1962, Nasser began a series of major socialist measures and modernization reforms in Egypt. Despite setbacks to his pan-Arabist cause, by 1963 Nasser's supporters gained power in several Arab countries. He also became embroiled in the North Yemen Civil War. Nasser introduced a new constitution in 1964, the same year he became president of the international Non-Aligned Movement. He began his second presidential term in March 1965 after all his political opponents were legally forbidden from running. Following Egypt's concessions to Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War, Nasser resigned only to retake office after popular demonstrations called for his reinstatement. Between the 1967 defeat and 1968, Nasser appointed himself prime minister, launched a war to regain lost territory, began a process of depoliticizing the military, and issued a set of political liberalization reforms.
After the conclusion of the 1970 Arab League summit, Nasser suffered a heart attack and died. His funeral in Cairo drew five million mourners and an outpouring of grief across the Arab world. Nasser remains an iconic figure and symbol of Arab dignity in the present day, particularly for his strides towards social justice and Arab unity, modernization policies, and anti-imperialist efforts. His presidency also encouraged and coincided with an Egyptian cultural boom, particularly in the arts. Nasser's detractors criticize his authoritarianism, his government's human rights violations, his populist relationship with the citizenry, and his failure to establish civil institutions, blaming his legacy for future dictatorial governance in Egypt. Historians describe Nasser as one of the towering political figures of the Middle East in the 20th century.

When I first published the video, I had the title " Death of Jamal Abdel..." with "J" rather than "G" as it should be in proper arabic. But then I got contacted by an Egyptian youtube user and he wrote:
"A very moving video.One problem though - you refer to him in the title of the video as "Jamal" rather than "Gamal". As you know, Egyptian Arabic is spoken with geem rather than jeem, and Nasser NEVER referred to himself as "Jamal". Indeed, when his written works were published in languages using the Latin alphabet (such as English), he insisted on his name being correctly spelt as "Gamal".
Perhaps you would be so kind as to correct the title."
Immediately I changed it and replied: "Done !"
As when it comes to man's well, there is no such thing proper language, especially when dealing with a man with a free well, and he was so.

The Suez Crisis, also referred to as the Tripartite Aggression, Suez War (Arabic: أزمة السويس -- العدوان الثلاثي ʾAzmat al-Sūwais / al-ʿIdwān al-Thalāthī; French: Crise du canal de Suez; Hebrew: מבצע קדש Mivtza' Kadesh "Operation Kadesh," or מלחמת סיני Milẖemet Sinai, "Sinai War") was an offensive war fought by France, the United Kingdom, and Israel against Egypt beginning on 29 October 1956. Less than a day after Israel invaded Egypt, Britain and France issued a joint ultimatum to Egypt and Israel, and then began to bomb Cairo. In a short time, and despite Israeli and British denials, considerable evidence showed that the two attacks were planned in collusion, with France as the instigator, Britain as a belated partner, and Israel as the willing trigger. Anglo-French forces withdrew before the end of the year, but Israeli forces remained until March 1957, prolonging the crisis. In April, the canal was fully reopened to shipping, but other repercussions continued.
The attack followed the President of Egypt Gamal Abdel Nasser's decision of 26 July 1956 to nationalize the Suez Canal, after the withdrawal of an offer by Britain and the United States to fund the building of the Aswan Dam, which was in response to Egypt's new ties with the Soviet Union and recognizing the People's Republic of China during the height of tensions between China and Taiwan. The nationalisation was in violation of the agreement he had signed with the United Kingdom and France on 19 October 1954. The aims of the attack were primarily to regain Western control of the canal and precipitate the fall of Nasser from power, whose policies were viewed as potentially threatening the strategic interests of the three nations.
The three allies, especially Israel, were mainly successful in attaining their immediate military objectives, but pressure from the United States and the USSR at the United Nations and elsewhere forced them to withdraw. As a result of the outside pressure Britain and France failed in their political and strategic aims of controlling the canal and removing Nasser from power. Israel fulfilled some of its objectives, such as attaining freedom of navigation through the Straits of Tiran. As a result of the conflict, the UNEF would police the Egyptian--Israeli border to prevent both sides from recommencing hostilities.
Some sources contend that the Crisis began on 26 July with the nationalisation of the Canal, and that the military actions by Britain, France and Israel were their response to the Crisis.

يؤرخ فيلم «ارفع رأسك ياخي» الوثائقي باسلوب سينمائي فريد
لفترة زمنية امتدت على مدى 28 عاما بدون ان يعتمد على الشهادات او الروايات وانما فقط على صوت وصورة الرئيس المصري الراحل جمال عبد الناصر. «بعد غيابه انقسم الناس بشأنه، لكنها المرة الاولى التي يروي فيها صاحب القضية «المتهم» التاريخ من وجهة نظره» كما يقول السينمائي اللبناني مخرج الفيلم سايد كعدو.
ويروي كعدو ان فكرته الاساسية من الفيلم، الذي عرض للمرة الاولى الاسبوع الماضي في جامعة بيروت العربية، كانت «اعداد فيلم وثائقي عن مواصفات المسؤول وسط حال الضياع العربي الحالي: كيف يتعاطى مع الامور ويحددها». ويقول «تجسدت واقعيته السياسية في عدم تنازله في المبادىء مع وعيه التام لعدم توازن القوى. انه المسؤول العربي الوحيد الذي حمل مسؤولية الاخطاء واستقال».
ويرى كعدو ان عبد الناصر توجه «الى المواطنين كمواطنين» لا «كرعايا وجزء من امتعته الشخصية» وانه كان «بغض النظر عن التوافق معه يحدد مضمون مفرداته مثل الحرية والديمقراطية والاشتراكية فيما يتعاطى الاخرون مع المفردات بديماغوجية».
ويضيف «اخترت عبد الناصر لانه احدى الشخصيات الاساسية التي جرى تشويهها وظلمت، ولأنه كان احد اللاعبين الاساسيين في الشرق الأوسط والعالم، ولأن آراءه تنطبق على الوضع الحالي».
ويقول كعدو «مرت 32 سنة على وفاته ومازال للعديد من المسؤولين حسابات معه وفي ذلك دليل على ان مواقفه ما زالت قائمة».
ويذكر بأن كعدو نفذ 12 عملا سينمائيا روائيا ووثائقيا أبرزها الفيلم الوثائقي «قانا» (1997) عن المجزرة الاسرائيلية التي حصدت في 18 نيسان (ابريل) عام 1996 في جنوب لبنان اكثر من مئة مدني معظمهم من النساء والاطفال والذي حاز الجائزة الثانية لمهرجان بيروت السينمائي (1997) والجائزة الاول للافلام الوثائقية في مهرجان ايران السينمائي للعام نفسه.
