Led by guitarist/vocalist Gavin Rossdale, Bush became the first post-Nirvana British band to hit it big in America. Of course, they became a hit by playing by the grunge rules — they had loud guitars, guttural vocals, stop-start rhythms, and extreme dynamics. Formed in late 1992 by Rossdale, Bush landed an American record deal before they had a British label. Sixteen Stone, their debut album produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley (producers of early-'80s hits by Madness and Elvis Costello, among others), was released in late 1994 by Interscope Records. By the end of December, Bush's "Everything Zen" video had landed in MTV's Buzz Bin and the album began to take off; by spring of 1995, the record had gone gold, despite a stack of bad reviews. By that time, the band was successful enough in the U.S. to land a British record deal, although they weren't able to match their American success in the U.K.
Over the course of 1995, Sixteen Stone became a major hit in the U.S., with "Little Things" reaching number four on the modern rock charts in the spring; later that year "Comedown" and "Glycerine" both reached number one on the modern rock charts, as well as crossing over into the pop Top 40. Despite their success, Bush received scathing reviews from the press and many alternative rock insiders who believed the group was manufactured. To counter such charges, the band asked Steve Albini — notorious for his abrasive productions for not only Pixies, Nirvana, and PJ Harvey, but also countless indie bands — to helm its second album. The resulting album, Razorblade Suitcase, was released in time for the Christmas season of 1996. Razorblade Suitcase was greeted with mixed reviews that were nevertheless more positive than those surrounding Sixteen Stone, and the album entered the U.S. charts at number one, as well as made some headway in the U.K. However, by the spring of 1997, the album had stalled somewhat, producing only one major hit in "Swallowed," and reaching only double platinum status.
Deconstructed, a collection of electronic remixes, appeared in late 1997, and in the fall of 1999 Bush returned with The Science of Things. In late 2001, they went back to basics with the guitar-driven album Golden State. Although it didn't storm the charts like previous albums, fans still supported Bush, as was evidenced by their sold-out tour across North America. During this time, Helmet guitarist Chris Traynor was added as a touring member. Shifts within the band, however, took a sharp turn several months later when founding member Nigel Pulsford announced his departure in May. Pulsford, who had started a solo career as well as a new family, left without much drama and disapproval. Traynor stepped in to fill his shoes, but the tour would still be Bush's last, and they ultimately disbanded in 2002. Rossdale returned to music in 2004 with a new project, Institute, and issued a solo album in 2008.

At ~3:25, I let a fellow fan squeeze in next to me to show Gavin a colored pencil sketch drawing she made of the entire Bush band. You can see the paper waving in the left corner. At 3:30, you also can see Gavin notice it and smile. After the end of the song, she throws it up on stage, and that is what Gavin is pointing to at ~5:30 for the roadie to pick up. Like I said, Gavin always enjoys interacting with the front row fans!

'The Fiddlestix Bush Band' (or Fiddlestix for short) was formed in 2008 by a like-minded group of 7 musicians to carry on the tradition of Australian bush music and dancing.
Here is a breakdown of the group:
* Founding member Peter Lambert was voted best fiddle player in Southern England at one time & is also a very talented mandolin player.
* Jimmy Nunn on lead guitar boasts a long association in the Australian Country music scene backing such Aussie luminaries as Chad Morgan, Slim Newton & The Rick & Thel travelling shows to name a few.
* Slim Pickings on percussion has a varied pedigree in music with a strong country background but also has shown great versatility over the years dabbling in other genres. Has impeccable metronome timing & consistently delivers a solid heartbeat to the group.
* Greg Hastings is the driver, the front man, the dance caller & vocalist just to name a few of his talents.. A long serving member of the legendary 'Mucky Duck Bush Band' is just one of his references on his CV.. A natural in the drivers seat, connecting with any audience, promoting interaction & encouraging participation & continually lightens things up with his natural joyful personality & humour.
* Maurice Archenoul also with a bush band background combines vocals, guitar, banjo & 'squeezebox' to inject his diversely talented ability to the group.
* Tim Gillet combines his extensive knowledge of the technical side of musical sound to plucking out a rock solid & steady contribution on bass at every show.
* John 'Froggy' Parkinson could be called 'second fiddle' in the band but is anything but having played for many years in some of the top Irish music institutions in Australia.
All in all a stellar bunch of blokes with a swagful of talent & experience who have united to bring you 'FIDDLESTIX' a dinky di, true blue traditional blast from the past aussie musical experience!
What makes this group so appealing & suited to such a wide range of audiences is this fun nostalgic genre from a bygone era they've skillfully rekindled & reignited its popularity.. The older audience will reminisce bout the 'good ol days' & the younger audiences will be exposed to an important part of Australia's cultural history & in turn giving all a fun time with some laughter thrown in along the way..
Dancing shoes are a must as all who come inevitably cant help but join in on the floor & usually with quite alot of gusto & enthusiasm I might ad. Picking up a traditional dance step or 2 or brushing up on some they may have faded in the memory bank.
FIDDLESTIX is quite the experience. A perfect way to take time out from the increasing pressures of today for awhile & take you back into a time period when fun was much simpler to be had.

Bush are an alternative rock band formed in London in 1992 shortly after vocalist/guitarist Gavin Rossdale and guitarist Nigel Pulsford met in a London nightclub. Realizing they shared a love for such diverse artists as the Pixies, Bob Marley, The Jesus Lizard, MC5, Nirvana, Hüsker Dü, and Big Black, they decided to form a band together. It was not long before they recruited drummer Robin Goodridge and bassist Dave Parsons and started writing. Dave Parsons joined Bush shortly after leaving the band Transvision Vamp. Drummers such as Sasha Gervasi, Amir, and Spencer Cobrin had all filled in as Bush drummers before Robin Goodridge was made the permanent fit and thus completing the Bush lineup.
The band found immediate success with the release of their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994, which is certified 6× multi-platinum by the RIAA. Bush went on to become one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling over 10 million records in the United States. Despite their success in the United States, the band was less well known in their home country and enjoyed only marginal success there. Bush have had numerous top ten singles on the Billboard rock charts, and one #1 album for Razorblade Suitcase in 1996. The band separated in 2002 but the name was revived in 2010 and they began work on a new album, The Sea of Memories, which was released in September 2011.

Bush - Chemicals Between Us
Led by guitarist/vocalist Gavin Rossdale, Bush became the first post-Nirvana British band to hit it big in America. Of course, they became a hit by playing by the grunge rules — they had loud guitars, guttural vocals, stop-start rhythms, and extreme dynamics. Formed in late 1992 by Rossdale, Bush landed an American record deal before they had a British label. Sixteen Stone, their debut album produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley (producers of early-'80s hits by Madness and Elvis Costello, among others), was released in late 1994 by Interscope Records. By the end of December, Bush's "Everything Zen" video had landed in MTV's Buzz Bin and the album began to take off; by spring of 1995, the record had gone gold, despite a stack of bad reviews. Of course, they became a hit by playing by the grunge rules — they had loud guitars, guttural vocals, stop-start rhythms, and extreme dynamics. Formed in late 1992 by Rossdale, Bush landed an American record deal before they had a British label. Sixteen Stone, their debut album produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley (producers of early-'80s hits by Madness and Elvis Costello, among others), was released in late 1994 by Interscope Records. By the end of December, Bush's "Everything Zen" video had landed in MTV's Buzz Bin and the album began to take off; by spring of 1995, the record had gone gold, despite a stack of bad reviews. By that time, the band was successful enough in the U.S. to land a British record deal, although they weren't able to match their American success in the U.K.
Over the course of 1995, Sixteen Stone became a major hit in the U.S., with "Little Things" reaching number four on the modern rock charts in the spring; later that year "Comedown" and "Glycerine" both reached number one on the modern rock charts, as well as crossing over into the pop Top 40. Despite their success, Bush received scathing reviews from the press and many alternative rock insiders who believed the group was manufactured. To counter such charges, the band asked Steve Albini — notorious for his abrasive productions for not only Pixies, Nirvana, and PJ Harvey, but also countless indie bands — to helm its second album. The resulting album, Razorblade Suitcase, was released in time for the Christmas season of 1996. Razorblade Suitcase was greeted with mixed reviews that were nevertheless more positive than those surrounding Sixteen Stone, and the album entered the U.S. charts at number one, as well as made some headway in the U.K. However, by the spring of 1997, the album had stalled somewhat, producing only one major hit in "Swallowed," and reaching only double platinum status.
Deconstructed, a collection of electronic remixes, appeared in late 1997, and in the fall of 1999 Bush returned with The Science of Things. In late 2001, they went back to basics with the guitar-driven album Golden State. Although it didn't storm the charts like previous albums, fans still supported Bush, as was evidenced by their sold-out tour across North America. During this time, Helmet guitarist Chris Traynor was added as a touring member. Shifts within the band, however, took a sharp turn several months later when founding member Nigel Pulsford announced his departure in May. Pulsford, who had started a solo career as well as a new family, left without much drama and disapproval. Traynor stepped in to fill his shoes, but the tour would still be Bush's last, and they ultimately disbanded in 2002. Rossdale returned to music in 2004 with a new project, Institute, and issued a solo album in 2008.

'The Fiddlestix Bush Band' (or Fiddlestix for short) was formed in 2008 by a like-minded group of 7 musicians to carry on the tradition of Australian bush music and dancing.
Here is a breakdown of the group:
* Founding member Peter Lambert was voted best fiddle player in Southern England at one time & is also a very talented mandolin player.
* Jimmy Nunn on lead guitar boasts a long association in the Australian Country music scene backing such Aussie luminaries as Chad Morgan, Slim Newton & The Rick & Thel travelling shows to name a few.
* Slim Pickings on percussion has a varied pedigree in music with a strong country background but also has shown great versatility over the years dabbling in other genres. Has impeccable metronome timing & consistently delivers a solid heartbeat to the group.
* Greg Hastings is the driver, the front man, the dance caller & vocalist just to name a few of his talents.. A long serving member of the legendary 'Mucky Duck Bush Band' is just one of his references on his CV.. A natural in the drivers seat, connecting with any audience, promoting interaction & encouraging participation & continually lightens things up with his natural joyful personality & humour.
* Maurice Archenoul also with a bush band background combines vocals, guitar, banjo & 'squeezebox' to inject his diversely talented ability to the group.
* Tim Gillet combines his extensive knowledge of the technical side of musical sound to plucking out a rock solid & steady contribution on bass at every show.
* John 'Froggy' Parkinson could be called 'second fiddle' in the band but is anything but having played for many years in some of the top Irish music institutions in Australia.
All in all a stellar bunch of blokes with a swagful of talent & experience who have united to bring you 'FIDDLESTIX' a dinky di, true blue traditional blast from the past aussie musical experience!
What makes this group so appealing & suited to such a wide range of audiences is this fun nostalgic genre from a bygone era they've skillfully rekindled & reignited its popularity.. The older audience will reminisce bout the 'good ol days' & the younger audiences will be exposed to an important part of Australia's cultural history & in turn giving all a fun time with some laughter thrown in along the way..
Dancing shoes are a must as all who come inevitably cant help but join in on the floor & usually with quite alot of gusto & enthusiasm I might ad. Picking up a traditional dance step or 2 or brushing up on some they may have faded in the memory bank.
FIDDLESTIX is quite the experience. A perfect way to take time out from the increasing pressures of today for awhile & take you back into a time period when fun was much simpler to be had.

earMUSIC announces the release of "Live!" on March 1st, 2013, a DVD and Blu-ray package from British alternative rock band BUSH.
With over 16 million albums sold, BUSH is one of the most successful alternative bands of the past two decades. Led by charismatic frontman Gavin Rossdale, BUSH is going strong after a 2010 reformation. Their most recent album, "The Sea Of Memories" (2011), charted all over Europe and was followed by an impressive series of acclaimed tours; the band has been on the road constantly throughout 2011 and 2012. One sold out date after another showed a band enjoying being on stage, while delivering a powerful and emotional live performance night after night.
The centrepiece of "Live!" is a full-length concert, filmed at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon (USA) in the fall of 2011. Live From Roseland is the first concert performance from Bush to be released on Blu-Ray and DVD. A special CD+DVD will also be available for a limited period, which will include the European Limited 2CD Edition of the studio album "The Sea Of Memories".
The 90 breathtaking minutes that form Live From Roseland include all-time favourites like "Glycerine", "Everything Zen" and "The Chemicals Between Us", as well new hits "The Sound Of Winter" and "All Night Doctors" from "The Sea Of Memories". A show highlight is the extremely powerful "The Afterlife", during which Gavin Rossdale gets up close and personal with the audience, singing as he makes his way through the crowd and around the entire theater.
Equally exciting is the bonus content featured on "Live!": "On The Roof" is a stripped down, 5-song acoustic performance, filmed on a magic night in Berlin for the interactive music channel tape.tv.

Show Facts:
This show was announced on BBC Radio 6 on Cerys Matthews' show on the day of the show. Hannah Ford, Donna Grantis and Ida Nielsen showed up at the radio studio for an interview and to announce the show. At 12:54 PM (GMT) a tweet with the same info was sent out.
Tickets were initially announced to be £ 70, but this was changed back to £ 10 shortly before doors opened. Printed out tickets still had £ 70 printed on there, but attendees were only charged £ 10. Presumably the higher price was advertised to have as many fans (that would pay £ 70 to see Prince) come see the show, as opposed to 'tourists' who just wanted in to see Prince for £ 10.
Courtesy of Prince hot chocolate was offered to fans waiting in line from 6:00 p.m. onwards.
Prince was still doing the soundcheck when the first few people entered the auditorium. "What are you doing here?" Prince quipped to them, then quickly round up the soundcheck and vacated the stage.
The classical music played over the PA was "The Marriage Of Figaro" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The setlist on paper (taped at Prince's feet) was: When Doves Cry / Let's Go Crazy / Funknroll / She's Always In My Hair / I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man / Guitar / Plectrumelectrum / Fixurlifeup / Marz / Chaos And Disorder
Prince played two verses and choruses of Endorphinmachine before aborting it and seguing directly into Dreamer.
George Clinton attended the concert and was acknowledged by Prince during Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)
Prince used both his VOX guitars (white custom painted and black) during the show. The black VOX was used from Cause And Effect to Dreamer after which he went back to the white one.
During piano and sampler set, Prince repeatedly asked for his mic output to be upped, not always with results. A technician came to speak to him during a vocal performance in The Beautiful Ones, much to his chagrin. Other instruction included a request to increase the beat output during Forever In My Life.

Sam Bush was exposed to country and bluegrass music at an early age through his father Charlie's record collection, and later by the Flatt & Scruggs television show. Buying his first mandolin at the age of 11, his musical interest was further piqued when he attended the inaugural Roanoke, VA Bluegrass Festival in 1965. As a teen Bush took first place three times in the junior division of the National Oldtime Fiddler's Contest in Weiser, ID. He joined guitarist Wayne Stewart, his mentor and music teacher during Sam's teen years, and banjoist Alan Munde (later of Country Gazette) and the three recorded an instrumental album, Poor Richard's Almanac, in 1969.[1] ... -

Bush are a British rock band formed in London in 1992 shortly after vocalist/guitarist Gavin Rossdale and guitarist Nigel Pulsford met. It was not long before they recruited bassist Dave Parsons, and later drummer Robin Goodridge, and started writing. Dave Parsons joined Bush shortly after leaving the band Transvision Vamp. Drummers such as Sacha Gervasi, Amir, and Spencer Cobrin had all filled in as Bush drummers before Robin Goodridge was made the permanent fit and thus completing the Bush line-up.
The grunge band found its immediate success with the release of their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994, which is certified 6× multi-platinum by the RIAA. Bush went on to become one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling over 10 million records in the United States..
In 1993, the band was signed by Rob Kahane, who had a distribution deal with Disney's Hollywood Records. The band completed recording its debut album Sixteen Stone in early 1994. However, the death of Disney executive Frank G. Wells eliminated a supporter for Kahane, and executives at Hollywood deemed Bush's album unacceptable for release. As a result, the members of Bush took jobs performing menial labour. Interscope Records ultimately decided to release the album, and at the end of 1994, Kahane sent an advance copy of the album to a friend at influential Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM, which added the song "Everything Zen" to its rotation. On the Billboard Music Charts (North America), Sixteen Stone peaked at No. 4 on the Heatseekers and Billboard 200 charts. The album spawned two Top 40 singles. After about 6 months of promotion for Sixteen Stone, the album began to sell wildly, once "Comedown" and "Glycerine" struck America. Additionally, "Little Things" and "Machinehead" both charted well in North America.
Sixteen Stone is the debut album of British rock band Bush, released on December 6, 1994, through Trauma Records. Widely regarded as the band's most popular album, it peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and boasted numerous successful singles. "Comedown" and "Glycerine" remain two of the band's biggest hits to date, each reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. "Comedown" and "Glycerine" were also the band's only songs from the album to enter the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 30 and No. 28, respectively.
In April 2014 Rolling Stone placed the album at No. 39 on its "1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative's Greatest Year" list. A month later, Loudwire placed Sixteen Stone at number eight on its "10 Best Hard Rock Albums of 1994" list.
Early pressings of the album do not list "Alien" on the back cover (there is a blank space where the title should be). "Monkey" is also missing from the inside cover, but both songs have lyrics printed and appear on the album.

Sam Bush was exposed to country and bluegrass music at an early age through his father Charlie's record collection, and later by the Flatt & Scruggs television show. Buying his first mandolin at the age of 11, his musical interest was further piqued when he attended the inaugural Roanoke, VA Bluegrass Festival in 1965. As a teen Bush took first place three times in the junior division of the National Oldtime Fiddler's Contest in Weiser, ID. He joined guitarist Wayne Stewart, his mentor and music teacher during Sam's teen years, and banjoist Alan Munde (later of Country Gazette) and the three recorded an instrumental album, Poor Richard's Almanac, in 1969.[1] In the spring of 1970, Bush attended the Fiddlers Convention at Union Grove, NC, and was inspired by the rock-flavored progressive bluegrass of the New Deal String Band.[2] Later that year, he moved to Louisville and joined the Bluegrass Alliance. In the fall of 1971, the band dissolved and reformed as the New Grass Revival.
The New Grass Revival went through numerous personnel changes, with Bush remaining as the sole original member. Bassist and vocalist John Cowan joined in 1974, with banjo ace Béla Fleck and acoustic guitarist Pat Flynn being enlisted in 1981. From 1979 through 1981, the group toured with Leon Russell, opening the shows and backing Russell during his headlining set.
Beginning in 1980, Bush and Cowan periodically jammed with the Nashville-based Duckbutter Blues Band, whose other members were blues guitarist Kenny Lee, drummer Jeff Jones, and bassist Byron House. Bush recorded his debut solo album, Late as Usual, four years later. In 1989, Bush and Fleck joined Mark O'Connor, Jerry Douglas, and Edgar Meyer in an all-star bluegrass band, Strength in Numbers, at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado. When the New Grass Revival dissolved in 1989, Bush joined Emmylou Harris' Nash Ramblers, touring and recording with Harris for the next five years.
In 1995, Bush worked as a sideman with Lyle Lovett and Bela Fleck's Flecktones. He formed his own band, featuring Cowan and ex-Nash Ramblers Jon Randall and Larry Atamanuick, shortly before recording his second solo album, Glamour & Grits, in 1996. He released his next album, Howlin' at the Moon, in 1998, with many of the same players and special guests, including Harris, Fleck and J. D. Crowe.
In the winter of 1997, Bush and the New Grass Revival reunited for an appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as the backup band for Garth Brooks. On March 28, 1998, Bush's hometown of Bowling Green, KY, honored him with a special "Sam Bush Day" celebration.
Following Howlin' at the Moon in 1998, he released Ice Caps: Peaks of Telluride in 2000, which was a live recording. In 2004, Randall left Bush's band and Brad Davis (musician) took over harmony vocals and guitar duties.
In 2006, Bush released Laps in Seven. The release was significant because it marked the return of the banjo to Bush's recordings, performed by Scott Vestal. The guitarist, Keith Sewell, performed on the recording, but shortly after took a job with the Dixie Chicks. Bush sought a new guitarist for his recordings and road band and found Stephen Mougin.
In 2007, Bush released his first live concert DVD, titled On The Road. 2007 also marked the first time he had been chosen to host the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards.
In March 2010, Legislation passed in Kentucky that officially named Bowling Green the "Birthplace of Newgrass" and Sam Bush the "Father of Newgrass." The Resolution, sponsored by Representative Jim DeCesare, passed the Kentucky Senate 37-0 on March 25. It passed the House on March 3, 99-0.
As well as being an accomplished bluegrass vocalist, Bush also is an accomplished instrumentalist on guitar and fiddle winning title of National Fiddle champion at fifteen years of age. He was a founding member of the New Grass Revival and has been called a modern day Bill Monroe, or as Sam would tell . .
" . . if Bill was the father of bluegrass then I could be the mother because Monroe would say: 'here comes that mother now!' "

I tried matching the Video from a different machine than than the one that actually recorded the video from the show. l was a rookie with ambition, so I'd say it's still definitely worth watching.
