Glenn Davis began playing in blues bands in 1970 after graduating high school in Des Plaines, IL. In the late 70's Glenn moved to New York, and recorded his first full length LP in 1984. Later that year he moved to Chicago and started touring nationally with his band Straight Shooter. In 1989 Glenn Davis opened the Silver Moon Blues Club in Darien, WI. Since then Glenn has released a number of CD's on the Moonfish recording label.
Appearing at the High Noon Saloon benefit for WORT community radio. Featuring Glenn Davis on guitar and vocals, Cadillac Rob on guitar, Westside Andy on harp, Dave Wood on bass, and Jimi Schutte on drums.

Glenn Robert Davis (October 28, 1914 – September 21, 1988) was a member of the United States House of Representatives for Wisconsin's Second Congressional District from April 22, 1947 to January 3, 1957, and Wisconsin's Ninth Congressional District from January 3, 1965 to December 31, 1974.
Davis was born on a small farm to a poor family in Vernon, Wisconsin. He excelled academically despite pressure from his father to forsake school for farming. He skipped several grades and was a teacher of the younger children in his one-room school house before graduating—three years early—from Mukwonago High School in 1930, at age 15.
Davis attended the Platteville State Teachers College (now the University of Wisconsin–Platteville) with a donation from his mother (who had been hiding the money from her husband for just such an occasion). He majored in education and went on to teach high school at Cottage Grove and Waupun for five years. Davis then went back to school, earning a law degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1940.

Abraham Lincoln 
i/ˈeɪbrəhæm ˈlɪŋkən/ (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led his country through its greatest constitutional, military and moral crisis – the American Civil War – preserving the Union while ending slavery, and promoting economic and financial modernization. Reared in a poor family on the western frontier, Lincoln was mostly self-educated. He became a country lawyer, a Whig Party leader, Illinois state legislator in the 1830s, and a one-term member of the United States House of Representatives in the 1840s. After a series of debates in 1858 that gave national visibility to his opposition to the expansion of slavery, Lincoln lost a Senate race to his arch-rival Stephen A. Douglas. Lincoln, a moderate from a swing state, secured the Republican Party nomination. With almost no support in the South he swept the North and was elected president in 1860. His election was the signal for seven southern slave states to declare their secession from the Union and form the Confederate States of America. The departure of the Southerners gave Lincoln's party firm control of Congress, but no formula for compromise or reconciliation was found. And the war came.

Angela Davis (born January 26, 1944) is an American political activist, scholar, and author. Davis emerged as a nationally prominent activist and radical in the 1960s, as a leader of the Communist Party USA and Black Panther Party, and through her association with the Civil Rights Movement. Prisoner rights have been among her continuing interests; she is the founder of "Critical Resistance", an organization working to abolish the prison-industrial complex. She is a retired professor with the History of Consciousness Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz and is the former director of the university's Feminist Studies department. Her research interests are in feminism, African American studies, critical theory, Marxism, popular music and social consciousness, and the philosophy and history of punishment and prisons.
Her membership in the Communist Party led to Ronald Reagan's request in 1969 to have her barred from teaching at any university in the State of California. She was tried and acquitted of suspected involvement in the Soledad brothers' August 1970 abduction and murder of Judge Harold Haley in Marin County, California.

Pocketful of Miracles is a 1961 American comedy film starring Bette Davis Glenn Ford, Peter Falk, Hope Lange, Thomas Mitchell, Arthur O,Connell, and Ann-Margret , and directed by Frank Capra. The screenplay by Hal Kanter and Harry Tugend is based on the screenplay Lady for a Day by Robert Riskin, which was adapted from the Damon Runyon short story "Madame La Gimp". The film proved to be the final project for both Capra and veteran actor Thomas Mitchell but also featured the film debut of Ann-Margret. Later that year he moved to Chicago and started touring nationally with his band Straight Shooter. In 1989 Glenn Davis opened the Silver Moon Blues Club in Darien, WI. Since then Glenn has released a number of CD's on the Moonfish recording label.
Appearing at the High Noon Saloon benefit for WORT community radio. Featuring Glenn Davis on guitar and vocals, Cadillac Rob on guitar, Westside Andy on harp, Dave Wood on bass, and Jimi Schutte on drums.

Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Wayne Hancock, Robert Earl Keen, and Jo Carol Pierce provided and performed songs for the play Chippy, written by Jo Harvey Allen and Terry Allen on commission from the American Music Theater Festival in Philadelphia, where the show premiered in 1994. On this recording of the score, the singer/songwriters, backed by a Texas band featuring Lloyd Maines (Dobro, steel guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, lap steel guitar), Richard Bowden (fiddle, mandolin), Glenn Fukunaga (bass), and Davis McLarty (drums), compete with each other to sound more like the successor to Hank Williams, cutting newly written traditional-sounding country tunes. Occasionally, Ely, Pierce, Jo Harvey Allen, and Barry Tubb recite bits of dialogue from the play, which seems to concern matters of prostitution, oil wells, and religion in Texas, although no clear sense of the plot comes out in the recording. Ely's "Cold Black Hammer" (for which he is credited with "Explosions, Pump Jack, Piano, Hisses, and Horns") veers into Tom Waits territory, while Keen and Butch Hancock's "Morning Goodness" comes off like "Afternoon Delight," just earlier in the day. In this conversation with Ute Thon (Art – Das Kunstmagazin), Sam Keller (Fondation Beyeler’s director and the co-curator of this exhibition with art historian Dieter Buchhart) talks about the genesis and importance of the exhibition, why it was so challenging to put the show together, the charateristics of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s oeuvre, and his favorite pieces in the exhibition.
The artist star died of a drug overdose at the age of 27. In the space of just eight years he had succeeded in creating an extensive oeuvre and introducing new figurative and expressive elements into contemporary art.
The Basquiat retrospective at the Fondation Beyeler traces Jean-Michel Basquiat’s unique artistic development and reflects his place in art history. The show also enables a rediscovery and re-evaluation of one of the most fascinating personalities in the history of recent art.
The Basquiat retrospective at Fondation Beyeler comprises over 100 works. It runs until September 5, 2010. The show is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue that was designed by Marie Lusa and contains essays by Dieter Buchhart, Glenn O’Brien, and Robert Storr, an interview with Basquiat by Becky Johnston and Tamra Davis, previously published only as a video film (1985), and short texts by Michiko Kono and a chronology by M. Franklin Sirmans.
