Alex Kroll

Alexander Stanley Kroll (born November 23, 1937) was an American collegiate and Professional Football player and a now-retired major advertising agency executive.

Early life

Kroll's father worked as a laborer in one of the many steel mills that dotted the landscape of Leechburg and other Alle-Kiski Valley communities at that time. Kroll remembers the support system he had growing up with a large extended family that included “an aunt and uncle on almost every block.” He adds, “I was never sure if I were rich or poor. We didn’t have a car or a lot of other amenities, but it didn’t seem relevant because I had these wonderful supporters.”

Driven to succeed in athletics, Alex put himself on a rigorous physical training program. He was captain of the football team his senior year. His talent on the field won him a number of football scholarships, but he turned them down. Ranked second in his class academically, Alex chose to attend Yale on an academic scholarship. He played on Yale’s varsity football team, but a physical argument with a young associate professor got Kroll expelled during his sophomore year.

The Script

The Script is an Irish pop rock band formed in 2001. The band comprises guitarist and vocalist Danny O'Donoghue, guitarist and vocalist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power. Based in London after signing to Sony Label Group imprint Phonogenic, the band released its eponymous debut album, The Script, in August 2008, featuring the hit songs "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" and "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)". The album peaked at number one in Ireland and the UK. Their next three albums, Science & Faith (2010), #3 (2012) and No Sound Without Silence (2014), all topped the album charts in Ireland and the UK, while Science & Faith reached number three in the US. Hit singles from the albums include "For the First Time", "Nothing", "Hall of Fame" and "Superheroes".

The Script's music has been featured in popular television programmes such as 90210, Ghost Whisperer, The Hills, Waterloo Road, EastEnders, Made in Chelsea and The Vampire Diaries. Frontman Danny O'Donoghue was also a coach on The Voice UK for seasons 1 and 2, before leaving the show in order to focus more on the band. The band has won three Meteor Ireland Music Awards, two World Music Awards and have received two Brit Award nominations.

Nick Kroll

Nicholas J. "Nick" Kroll (born June 5, 1978) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He is best known for his role as Rodney Ruxin in the FXX comedy series The League, and for creating and starring in the Comedy Central series Kroll Show.

Early life and education

Kroll was born in New York City, and raised in Westchester County, New York. the son of Lynn and Kroll Inc. founder Jules B. Kroll. The youngest child in the family, he has a brother, Jeremy, and two sisters, Vanessa and Dana. He attended high school at Rye Country Day School. During this time, he also briefly attended The Mountain School in Vermont where he developed his fondness for hiking. In 2001, Kroll graduated from Georgetown University. He described himself as "a history major, and I minored in art and Spanish, but I found myself gravitating toward media studies as time went on."

Career

Kroll has been a contributing writer to Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show and MTV's Human Giant. Kroll's live work is a mix of standup, sketch and characters. He is well known as a performer for his characters: Bobby Bottleservice, Fabrice Fabrice, and Gil Faizon of The Oh, Hello Show, which he created with writing partner John Mulaney. His character work features prominently in Kroll Show. Kroll was honored with the Breakout Star of the Year award from the 2013 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada. Kroll is one of the co-authors of the critically acclaimed book Bar Mitzvah Disco.

John Mulaney

John Edmund Mulaney (born August 26, 1982) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for his work as a writer on Saturday Night Live (SNL) and as a standup comedian. He was the creator and star of the Fox sitcom Mulaney, a semi-autobiographical series which aired from October 2014 until its cancellation in February 2015.

Early life

Mulaney was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ellen (née Stanton), a law professor, and Charles W. Mulaney, Jr., an attorney. Both of his parents are of Irish Catholic descent. Mulaney's maternal great-grandfather was George J. Bates, a Republican mayor of Salem, Massachusetts, who also served as a congressman from that state. His maternal great-uncle is William H. Bates, who also served as a U.S. congressman. His parents both attended Georgetown University and Yale Law School with the future president Bill Clinton, whom Mulaney met in 1992. Mulaney was the third of four children, and was an altar boy.

At the age of seven, Mulaney had an opportunity to audition for the role of Kevin in the film Home Alone, but his parents declined. For junior high, he attended St. Clement School where, in lieu of doing reports, he and his best friend, John O'Brien, would offer to perform what they had learned in the format of a skit. Mulaney would also frequent the Museum of Broadcast Communications, where he would watch archived episodes of shows such as I Love Lucy or The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. He then attended St. Ignatius College Prep, and finally Georgetown University, where he studied English Literature.

Alex Timbers

Alex Timbers (born August 7, 1978) is a two-time Tony-nominated writer and director and the recipient of Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, as well as two OBIE and Lucile Lortel Awards.

His Broadway directing credits include Rocky the Musical, Peter and the Starcatcher for which he was nominated for a 2012 Tony Award, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson which he also wrote the dialogue for and was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award, and The Pee-Wee Herman Show which was filmed for HBO and was nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award. Timbers is Artistic Director of the New York-based company Les Freres Corbusier.

Background

Timbers grew up in New York City. He graduated from Yale University, where he served as president of the Yale Dramat.

Career

In 2014, Timbers directed Rocky the Musical (a stage musical version of the film Rocky) on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre, for which he was nominated for Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Director.

In 2013 and again in 2014, Timbers directed Here Lies Love, an immersive club musical about Imelda Marcos featuring the music of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, for which he won the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Director. The show was extended at the Public Theater three times, becoming the second-longest running show in the theater's history, and made numerous year-end Best Of lists including The New York Times, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, Time, The Hollywood Reporter, Time Out, New York Magazine, and Vogue. He was also nominated for Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Director.
