West Bandung Regency (Kabupaten Bandung Barat) West Bandung was established in 2007, formerly it was part of Bandung Regency region of West Java. The capital of this regency is Ngamprah, an industrial district on the west side of Bandung. It is part of the Bandung Metropolitan Area.
According to the 'Results of the Social Survey of the District' ('Hasil Survei Sosial Ekonomi Daerah') in 2007 , the population was 1,493,225 .
The idea of separation of Bandung Regency that divide into 2 autonomous regency were established on 1999, based from current regent H.U. Hatta Djati Permana into the parliament about the approval of separation of Bandung regency, the regent request the parliament to concern and approve the idea of split off the area of Bandung regency. Before the split off successfully completed, Cimahi (an area consists of three sub-district, used to be part of Bandung regency) promoted to became autonomous city. After Cimahi become an autonomous region, the request on split off Bandung Regency (in this point, the separation of Western side of Bandung Regency) is growing. Finally on 2007, the government of Indonesia approved the proposal of separation of Western side of Bandung Regency to became an autonomous regency, the Western Bandung Regency. On its born, this newest regency in West Java were headed by an acting regent H. Tjatja Kuswara (officer from West Java provincial government) until April 2008, when the first direct election of West Bandung Regency Regent, with H. Abubakar and H. Agus Yasmin as the contestants, resulting H. Abubakar with his running mate Ernawan Natasaputra won the election and became the Regent and vice Regent of West Bandung Regency.
Bandung Metropolitan Area (Indonesian: Wilayah Metropolitan Bandung or Bandung Raya) is the metropolitan area surrounds the city of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It is home to roughly 8 million people.
It is located in a mountainous plateau region in the central-west portion of West Java province. It has the 2nd highest population of any metropolitan area in Indonesia after Jakarta, however, Surabaya's Zona Surabaya Pengaruh Raya aka Gerbangkertosusila (Extended Metropolitan Area) covers more area and is more populous. West Bandung Regency was carved out of Bandung Regency in 2007.
The metropolitan area lies less than 20 km from the eastern edge of the metropolitan area of Greater Jakarta ("Jabodetabekjur") near Cianjur city, and is adjacent (contiguous) with Jabodetabekjur-Cirangkarta definition for Jakarta's extended metropolitan area at its northern border with Purwakarta Regency. Beginning in Serang Regency of Banten Province, the urban corridor which Greater Bandung is a part of, is home to over 44 million people.
Bandung Hall Station is the largest train station on Bandung and perhaps on the West Java province, this is where located the "Operation Area 2" (Daop 2) which surrounding the area of Bandung and Priangan.
The station is located at Kebon Kawung street on the central Bandung, the old station building were located at Stasiun Timur street on the southern part of the railroad, later and currently the station has its new building on the northern part of the railroad.
On the Javanese railroad system, Bandung Train Station were located on Jakarta - Bandung - Yogyakarta - Surabaya railroad route or known as southern java railroad route, the station height are 709 meters above sea levels.

Bandung Train station, like other major train stations has several supporting facilities and infrastructures for the train operation, such as it has a passenger coach warehouse (located west side of the station), locomotive warehouse (located northwestern side of the station), turn table (western side of the station), reservation ticket building (northern station) and cargo area (southern part)
