Microsoft Word is a word processor developed by Microsoft. It was first released in 1983 under the name Multi-Tool Word for Xenix systems. Subsequent versions were later written for several other platforms including IBM PCs running DOS (1983), Apple Macintosh running Mac OS (1985), AT&T Unix PC (1985), Atari ST (1988), OS/2 (1989), Microsoft Windows (1989) and SCO Unix (1994). Commercial versions of Word are licensed as a standalone product or as a component of Microsoft Office, Windows RT or the discontinued Microsoft Works suite. Microsoft Word Viewer and Office Online are Freeware editions of Word with limited features.
In 1981, Microsoft hired Charles Simonyi, the primary developer of Bravo, the first GUI word processor, which was developed at Xerox PARC. Simonyi started work on a word processor called Multi-Tool Word and soon hired Richard Brodie, a former Xerox intern, who became the primary software engineer.
Microsoft announced Multi-Tool Word for Xenix and MS-DOS in 1983. Its name was soon simplified to Microsoft Word. Free demonstration copies of the application were bundled with the November 1983 issue of PC World, making it the first to be distributed on-disk with a magazine. That year Microsoft demonstrated Word running on Windows.
The Amazon Kindle is a series of e-readers designed and marketed by Amazon.com. Amazon Kindle devices enable users to browse, buy, download and read e-books, newspapers, magazines and other digital media via wireless networking to the Kindle Store. The hardware platform, developed by Amazon subsidiary Lab126, began as a single device and now comprises a range of devices, including e-readers with E Ink electronic paper displays, and Android-based tablets with color LCD screens. All Kindle devices integrate with the Kindle Store to get content and as of November 2015, the Kindle Store has over four million e-books available in the US.
The Kindle name was devised by branding consultants Michael Cronan and Karin Hibma. Lab 126 tasked them to name the product, so Cronan and Hibma suggested Kindle, meaning to light a fire. They felt this was an apt metaphor for reading and intellectual excitement.
Kindle hardware has evolved from the original Kindle introduced in 2007 and the Kindle DX (with its larger screen) introduced in 2009. The range includes devices with a keyboard (Kindle Keyboard), devices with touch-sensitive high resolution and contrast screens (Kindle Paperwhite), a tablet with the Kindle app (Kindle Fire), and a low-priced model with touch-sensitive screen (Kindle).

This video is an overview of some of the ways I market books, and how I get a lot of visibility with little to no promotion or advertising. The focus on how to publish books that earn money, for both fiction and non-fiction. I list what most authors do to launch bestsellers, and then talk about what I do different that lets my books continue to sell long-term
Designing a book cover is your most important creative decision after writing the book. But often what we are attracted to is not necessarily what works for readers and online stores. Derek Murphy outlines what a good cover will always have.
Update: after making a big fuss about this, posting some articles and mailing my email list, I got Amazon to back down and restore my account. More details here: http://www.creativindie.com/how-i-got-kicked-out-of-kindle-unlimited-and-lost-50000-overnight/ Here's the original post: I had one old book in my KDP account I thought wasn't on any other platform, so I put it in KDP Select. 2 days later I got an email saying that book was found on Google Play (no idea how it got there, but might have done it years ago). SO they are going to kick ALL my books out of Kindle Unlimited for one year - which means the $200+ in page reads I've gotten consistently for the past 3 months will disappear in a few days. I made 8K on Kindle last month and would have broken through 10K this month - and ...
In this video I talk through the differences between instafreebie and bookfunnel - which I use to give away ARC copies (advanced readers copies) to get more book reviews. I also talk about using Amazon giveaways to give out copies during launch and boost sales rank. EDIT: Amazon giveaways don't seem to work - they did briefly, it seems Amazon has already shut that down; I got 100 claimed copies and it moved my rank from 80K to 30K - not nearly as much as 100 actual sales.

This video is an introduction to designing book covers in Microsoft Word; and not just simple, basic, and totally unimpressive book covers - you can make a beautiful cover, even in a difficult genre like paranormal romance or dystopian (YA readers are more particular about their book cover design) The most amazing feature of MS Word is the automatic tool that strips out background. You don't have total flexibility, it can't compare with Photoshop, however you can do a lot of amazing things... make sure you learn about book cover design though - you are your own worst enemy if you just create covers that you like: your cover has to sell the book to strangers. Dating the Bible! How do we know who wrote what, and when? (We don't!) We have ballpark figures that occur far later than uncritical believers would hope for - but which help to explain how the New Testament was assembled and written. Who was Paul? A real apostle? An invention of a Turkish shipping magnate? We'll look at the history hidden in plain sight. In Hour 1, Ken Humphreys of JNE joins Liam to talk about dates, Paul and early Christian story-making. Ken Humphreys: http://jesusneverexisted.com/ Mitra, Dionysus and Harry Potter: in Hour 2, Derek Murphy walks us through the myths of antiquity that fed the imagination of Biblical story-assemblers. The author of "Jesus Potter, Harry Christ" lets us know that Christianity didn't invent its themes - but borrowed them, as all story-telle...
