R&B; star Rihanna reclaimed the top spot on the weekly U.S. Billboard 200 album chart on Monday, holding off Adele and Justin Bieber in a slow sales week.
"Anti," the eighth album by Rihanna, moved to No. 1 from No. 3 with sales of 54,000 units from albums, songs and streaming activity, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"Anti" has sold nearly 300,000 albums in the United States since its February release. Apart from sales, a million copies given to fans who signed up for music streaming platform Tidal.

The Billboard 200 is a ranking of the 200 highest-selling music albums and EPs in the United States, published weekly by Billboard magazine. It is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Often, a recording act will be remembered by its "number ones", those of their albums that outsold all others during at least one week.
The chart is based solely on sales (both at retail and digitally) of albums in the United States. The sales tracking week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday. A new chart is published the following Thursday with an issue date of the Saturday of the following week.
Normally new products are released to the American market on Tuesdays. Digital downloads are included in Billboard 200 tabulation, as long as the entire album is purchased as a whole. Albums that are not licensed for retail sale in the United States (yet purchased in the U.S. as imports) are not eligible to chart. A long-standing policy which made titles that are sold exclusively by specific retail outlets (such as Wal-Mart and Starbucks) ineligible for charting, was reversed on November 7, 2007, and took effect in the issue dated November 17.

Mariah Carey (born March 27, 1970) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She made her recording debut in 1990 under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola, and released her self-titled debut studio album, Mariah Carey. The album went multi-platinum and spawned four consecutive number one singles, on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following her marriage to Mottola in 1993, a series of hit records, including Emotions (1991), Music Box (1993) and Merry Christmas (1994), established her position as Columbia's highest-selling act. Daydream (1995), made music history when the second single, "One Sweet Day" a duet with Boyz II Men, spent a record sixteen weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100, and remains the longest running number one song in US chart history. During the recording of the album Carey began to deviate from her pop background, and slowly traversed into R&B and Hip-hop. After her separation from Mottola, this musical change was evident with the release of Butterfly (1997).

Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn (born November 20, 1983), known professionally as Future or Future Hendrix, is an American hip hop recording artist. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Wilburn first became involved in music as part of the Dungeon Family, where he received the nickname "the Future." After amassing a series of mixtapes between 2010 and 2011, Future signed a major-label deal with Epic Records and A1 Recordings, which helped launch Future's own label imprint, Freebandz. He subsequently began working on his debut album Pluto, and in April 2012 released the album to positive reviews. The album spawned five singles, all of which charted on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Future's second album, Honest, was released in April 2014, where it surpassed his debut on the Billboard 200 chart. He unexpectedly released his third album, DS2, in July 2015, which earned him his first number-one placement on the Billboard 200. His 2015 collaborative effort with Drake, titled What a Time to Be Alive, earned Future his second number-one album. Future premiered his fourth solo album EVOL, in February 2016, on DJ Khaled's We The Best Radio's debut on Beats 1. In 2016, Future became the fastest artist to chart three number-one albums on the Billboard 200.
Future makes prevalent use of Auto-Tune in his songs, both rapping and singing with the effect. Pitchfork Media wrote that Future "miraculously shows that it's still possible for Auto-Tune to be an interesting artistic tool," stating that he "finds a multitude of ways for the software to accentuate and color emotion." Rapper T-Pain, who also uses that audio processor, criticized Future's unconventional use of it in 2014. In response, Future stated in an interview that "when I first used Auto-Tune, I never used it to sing. I wasn’t using it the way T-Pain was. I used it to rap because it makes my voice sound grittier. Now everybody wants to rap in Auto-Tune. Future’s not everybody." Future's music has been characterized as trap music.

Billboard released their top 200 chart on Monday. Adele again holds her number one ranking on the chart. Her album, "25", was the top selling record of 2015. Just last week, she gained another 100,000 units in song sales and streaming activity. Since its November of 2015 release, her album has sold more than 8.3 million copies in the United states. The record has also spent ten weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Currently behind her are Rihanna for her new album, "Anti", and Justin Bieber for his record, "Purpose."
