Spandau Ballet are an English band formed in Islington, London, in 1979. Emerging from new wave, they became one of the most successful groups of the New Romantic era of British pop, and were influenced by music ranging from punk rock and soul to the American crooners Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.
The band's classic line-up featured brothers Gary Kemp on guitar and Martin Kemp on bass, vocalist Tony Hadley, saxophonist Steve Norman and drummer John Keeble. Gary Kemp also served as the band's songwriter. Their debut single "To Cut a Long Story Short", which reached No. 5 in the UK in 1980, was the first of ten UK top 10 hits, including a No. 1 single "True", a No. 2 single "Gold", and two No. 3 singles: "Chant No. 1" and "Only When You Leave". The band have had eight UK top 10 albums, including three greatest hits compilations and an album of re-recorded material.
The band achieved the height of their popularity with the 1983 album True. In 1984, they received the Brit Award for technical excellence and were involved in Band Aid. In 1985, they performed at Live Aid. The band split in 1990 and the members pursued solo careers, with both Kemp brothers winning acting roles. Since their reformation in 2009, the band have been recognised at the Q Awards and Gary Kemp's songwriting has been honoured by the Ivor Novello Awards.

John Keeble was for many years organist at the prestigious St George's Church, Hanover Square, London. He was widely regarded as one of the finest performers of his day, although it was noted he played in a old fashioned style.
He was born in Chichester and received his early musical education as a chorister at the cathedral under Thomas Kelway. Moving to London, he became a pupil of Johann Christoph Pepusch (1667 - 1752) studying composition which (with Pepusch) included mastering a thorough understanding of ancient Greek musical theory and the tetrachord. Keeble became keenly interested in the relationship between mathematics and music which dates back to his training under Dr Pepusch. Keeble's ideas are set out in his published book "Theory of Harmonics". He also published several organ pieces in 1780.
Keeble was appointed the first organist at Ranelagh Gardens when it opened in 1742 where he performed popular music. In 1744, probably on the recommendation of G. F. Handel, he was appointed assistant organist to Thomas Roseingrave at St Geoge's. Roseingrave was becoming increasingly mentally ill and Keeble eventually succeeded him when he retired to Ireland.
For most of the time, Keeble lived in Hanover Street, later moving to Conduit Street. His daughter, Sally, was born in 1757. Six months before John Keeble's death, Sally married Thomas Hamilton, a captain in the Royal Navy who later rose to be a vice-admiral.
Keeble died at his house in Conduit Street on 24th December, 1786. In his will, he asked to be buried next to his wife in Ramsholt, Suffolk.

John Keeble
John Leslie Keeble (born 6 July 1959 in Hampstead, London) is an English pop and rock drummer. He is best known for his membership of the 1980s new wave band Spandau Ballet. He has also played with the rock artists Fish and Janick Gers.
Early years
John Keeble was born in Hampstead, London. He was athletic as a child, playing both football and cricket. He bought his first drum kit at the age of 16 and started pursuing an interest in music in a Dame Alice Owen's School band called The Cut with Gary Kemp, Tony Hadley and Steve Norman in 1976. The band soon recruited Kemp's brother Martin on bass, which completed the line-up. The band was later named The Makers, The Gentry and then Spandau Ballet.
Spandau Ballet
Spandau Ballet produced a number of international hits including "True", "Gold" and "Through the Barricades." In 1984 the band participated in the Band Aid charity project and Live Aid the following year. The band broke up in 1990, after their final studio album, Heart Like a Sky, failed to live up to the critical and commercial success of their earlier albums, such as True and Parade.

John Keeble (writer)
John R. Keeble (born November 24, 1944) is an American author. Primarily a novelist, he is best known for his novel Yellowfish (1980) and Broken Ground (1987). He has also written short stories and nonfiction.
Keeble is known for his literary treatment of political and ecological concerns, particularly in the western landscape of North America, as well as for his exploration of the intersections and tensions between the past and present of the American West and the people and animals who inhabit these spaces.
Biography
Keeble was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and raised in Saskatchewan until his parents moved the family to California. The son of a minister, Keeble holds dual Canadian and U.S. citizenship. Keeble attended the University of Redlands (Bachelor of Arts, "magna cum laude", 1966), and the University of Iowa (Master of Fine Arts, 1969). Additionally, he attended Brown University for one year (1971/72). He began adult life as a musician, but turned seriously to writing while at the University of Iowa.

Handel, he was appointed assistant organist to Thomas Roseingrave at St Geoge's. Roseingrave was becoming increasingly mentally ill and Keeble eventually succeeded him when he retired to Ireland.
For most of the time, Keeble lived in Hanover Street, later moving to Conduit Street. His daughter, Sally, was born in 1757. Six months before John Keeble's death, Sally married Thomas Hamilton, a captain in the Royal Navy who later rose to be a vice-admiral.
Keeble died at his house in Conduit Street on 24th December, 1786. In his will, he asked to be buried next to his wife in Ramsholt, Suffolk.

Spandau Ballet are an English band formed in Islington, London, in 1979. Emerging from new wave, they became one of the most successful groups of the New Romantic era of British pop, and were influenced by music ranging from punk rock and soul to the American crooners Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.
The band's classic line-up featured brothers Gary Kemp on guitar and Martin Kemp on bass, vocalist Tony Hadley, saxophonist Steve Norman and drummer John Keeble. Gary Kemp also served as the band's songwriter. Their debut single "To Cut a Long Story Short", which reached No. 5 in the UK in 1980, was the first of ten UK top 10 hits, including a No. 1 single "True", a No. 2 single "Gold", and two No. 3 singles: "Chant No. 1" and "Only When You Leave". The band have had eight UK top 10 albums, including three greatest hits compilations and an album of re-recorded material.
The band achieved the height of their popularity with the 1983 album True. In 1984, they received the Brit Award for technical excellence and were involved in Band Aid. In 1985, they performed at Live Aid. The band split in 1990 and the members pursued solo careers, with both Kemp brothers winning acting roles. Since their reformation in 2009, the band have been recognised at the Q Awards and Gary Kemp's songwriting has been honoured by the Ivor Novello Awards.

John Keeble was for many years organist at the prestigious St George's Church, Hanover Square, London. He was widely regarded as one of the finest performers of his day, although it was noted he played in a old fashioned style.
He was born in Chichester and received his early musical education as a chorister at the cathedral under Thomas Kelway. Moving to London, he became a pupil of Johann Christoph Pepusch (1667 - 1752) studying composition which (with Pepusch) included mastering a thorough understanding of ancient Greek musical theory and the tetrachord. Keeble became keenly interested in the relationship between mathematics and music which dates back to his training under Dr Pepusch. Keeble's ideas are set out in his published book "Theory of Harmonics". He also published several organ pieces in 1780.
Keeble was appointed the first organist at Ranelagh Gardens when it opened in 1742 where he performed popular music. In 1744, probably on the recommendation of G. F. John Keeble
John Leslie Keeble (born 6 July 1959 in Hampstead, London) is an English pop and rock drummer. He is best known for his membership of the 1980s new wave band Spandau Ballet. He has also played with the rock artists Fish and Janick Gers.
Early years
John Keeble was born in Hampstead, London. He was athletic as a child, playing both football and cricket. He bought his first drum kit at the age of 16 and started pursuing an interest in music in a Dame Alice Owen's School band called The Cut with Gary Kemp, Tony Hadley and Steve Norman in 1976. The band soon recruited Kemp's brother Martin on bass, which completed the line-up. The band was later named The Makers, The Gentry and then Spandau Ballet.
Spandau Ballet
Spandau Ballet produced a number of international hits including "True", "Gold" and "Through the Barricades." In 1984 the band participated in the Band Aid charity project and Live Aid the following year. The band broke up in 1990, after their final studio album, Heart Like a Sky, failed to live up to the critical and commercial success of their earlier albums, such as True and Parade.
