The guy is just trying to protect the place from vandals etc. We visited it to get some shots as we were in the area. Elwyn came as we were on our way out. All was fine. Just got a little hairy.

Skyquad Aerial Video & Aerial Photography North Wales and North West UK
A controversial building which is imposing within the North Wales town of Denbigh. Our Drones were able to fly inside and out and capture never seen before footage.
The North Wales Hospital (locally known as Denbigh Mental)[1] was a hospital for people with psychiatric illnesses and is located in Denbigh, North Wales. This now abandoned Victorian Asylum has featured on most haunted and is in a sorry state of repair and neglect..
Designed by architect Thomas Full James to originally accommodate between 60 and 200 patients, the building dates back to 1848, and originally had its own farm and gasworks. Planned for closure by Enoch Powell from the 1960s, it was closed in sections from 1991 to 2002.[2]
Now derelict, on October 31, 2008, Living TV's Most Haunted did a live series, The Village of the Damned on location in the North Wales Hospital which spanned over the course of a week.[3] The producers of the show were criticized by residents of Denbigh for slurs against the town and the hospital.[3]
On 22 November 2008, during work to renovate the building site and convert it to apartments and residential properties, the building caught fire; it was later confirmed that the main hall of the hospital was destroyed. Arson is suspected.[4]
Currently on the buildings at risk register, planning permission has currently lapsed, while Denbighshire council are planning urgent repairs and to bill the current owners/developers

Coordinates: 53°11′13″N 3°24′54″W / 53.187°N 3.415°W / 53.187; -3.415
Denbigh (/ˈdɛnbi/; Welsh: Dinbych) is a market town and community in Denbighshire, Wales, of which it was formerly the county town. Denbigh lies 8 miles to the north west of Ruthin and to the south of St Asaph. The town grew around the glove-making industry. Its population at the 2001 Census was 8,783, increasing to 8,986 in the 2011 census.
The first borough charter was granted to Denbigh in 1290, when the town was still contained within the old town walls. It was the centre of the Marcher Lordship of Denbigh. The town was involved in the revolt of Madog ap Llywelyn in 1294-95; the castle was captured in the autumn, and on 11 November 1294 a relieving force was defeated by the Welsh rebels. The town was recaptured by Edward I in December. Denbigh was also burnt in 1400 during the revolt of Owain Glyndŵr.
During the Wars of the Roses, the town was largely destroyed, subsequently moving from the hilltop to the area of the present town market. In 1643, Denbigh became a refuge for a Royalist garrison during the English Civil War. Surrendering in 1646, the castle and town walls eventually fell into ruin.
