Dramatic CCTV shows the six inch blade being plunged between the shoulder blades of Matthew Withers, 31, after violence broke out between drunken revellers. The doorman required life-saving surgery after Jordan Hamilton, 21, launched the vicious attack inside BZR in Nottingham on April 6. Another victim Callum Northridge, 27, lost three pints of blood after being stabbed twice in the leg and once in the buttocks by the yob outside the popular nightspot. Disturbing footage shows trouble flaring inside the venue between a group of men on the dancefloor before violence spills outside onto the streets.
The cameras also catch the chilling moment the dad-of-three slammed the blade into the back of Mr Withers, causing him to suffer a punctured lung.
Last Friday (9/10) Hamilton was jailed for four years at Nottingham Crown Court after he admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and wounding.
But yesterday (Mon) both victims slammed the "joke" sentence handed out to their attacker and called for tougher penalties on knife crimes.
Doorman Matthew, who now wears a stab vest to work, accused the criminal justice system of letting him down.
He added: "Four years is a joke. I'm only here because of the operation I had.
"I had about a month off work and it made me think about carrying on doing my job, which is a shame because I enjoy it.
"I've had to buy a stab vest to wear to work. It still affects me. I was walking through the city recently and walked past a group of lads and it made me nervous.
"I just want to know why he did it and why he had the knife. Why he feels like he needed to have a knife in Nottingham.
"The sentence for carrying a knife is five years, and he used one to stab two people but still only got four years. It should be more.
"I feel like the justice system has let me down."
Plumber Callum, who can be seen in the CCTV clutching his leg by the bar after being stabbed, added: "I was told if the stab wound on my leg was an inch away from hitting the main artery in my leg.
"If that happened, it means almost certain death.

A nightclub (also known as a discothèque, or simply a club or disco) is an entertainment venue which usually operates late into the night. A nightclub is generally distinguished from bars, pubs or taverns by the inclusion of a dance floor and a DJ booth, where a DJ plays recorded electronic dance music, hip hop, rock music, reggae, and pop music.
The music in nightclubs is either live bands or, more commonly, a mix of songs played by a DJ through a powerful PA system. Most clubs or club nights cater to certain music genres, such as techno, house music, trance, heavy metal, garage, hip hop, salsa, dancehall, drum and bass, Dubstep or soca music. Many clubs also promote playing the Top 40 which has most of the night playing the most broadcast songs of the previous week.
Many nightclubs choose who can enter, on bases other than just age, e.g. dress code and guest list. This is used to make their status as a nightclub more "exclusive". Quite often, there are no clear policies governing entry to a nightclub, thereby allowing the doormen to deny entry to anybody at their discretion.

Dramatic CCTV shows the six inch blade being plunged between the shoulder blades of Matthew Withers, 31, after violence broke out between drunken revellers. The doorman required life-saving surgery after Jordan Hamilton, 21, launched the vicious attack inside BZR in Nottingham on April 6. Another victim Callum Northridge, 27, lost three pints of blood after being stabbed twice in the leg and once in the buttocks by the yob outside the popular nightspot. Disturbing footage shows trouble flaring inside the venue between a group of men on the dancefloor before violence spills outside onto the streets.
The cameras also catch the chilling moment the dad-of-three slammed the blade into the back of Mr Withers, causing him to suffer a punctured lung.
Last Friday (9/10) Hamilton was jailed for four years at Nottingham Crown Court after he admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and wounding.
But yesterday (Mon) both victims slammed the "joke" sentence handed out to their attacker and called for tougher penalties on knife crimes.
Doorman Matthew, who now wears a stab vest to work, accused the criminal justice system of letting him down.
He added: "Four years is a joke. I'm only here because of the operation I had.
"I had about a month off work and it made me think about carrying on doing my job, which is a shame because I enjoy it.
"I've had to buy a stab vest to wear to work. It still affects me. I was walking through the city recently and walked past a group of lads and it made me nervous.
"I just want to know why he did it and why he had the knife. Why he feels like he needed to have a knife in Nottingham.
"The sentence for carrying a knife is five years, and he used one to stab two people but still only got four years. It should be more.
"I feel like the justice system has let me down."
Plumber Callum, who can be seen in the CCTV clutching his leg by the bar after being stabbed, added: "I was told if the stab wound on my leg was an inch away from hitting the main artery in my leg.
"If that happened, it means almost certain death.
