Absolute zero is the temperature at which all classical motion stops. Although temperature has no maximum value, absolute zero, at
0 Kelvin (K) or -273.15 degrees
Celsius (°C), is the lowest temperature possible. At this temperature, no energy can be transferred out to another body. A common misconception is that all motion stops at
0 K, but quantum mechanics states that some molecular motion must always exist, as having no motion whatsoever would violate the
Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Even at 0 K the atoms in molecules continue to oscillate (atomic bonds stretch and contract), giving them a minimum non-zero amount of energy, called the zero-point energy. The coldest temperature ever achieved in a laboratory was
100 pK, or 0.0000000001 K.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have tutored others ever since early middle school as a hobby. From assisting my classmates with homework to helping them understand lecture topics, I found tutoring to be not only a way to fulfill my need to reach out to others but also strengthen my own understanding of the topics I taught. In my last two years of high school, I formalized this hobby into a self-employed job during the summer by teaching underclassmen from my high school five days a week, seven hours a day. I taught numerous subjects ranging from
SAT preparation to several AP subjects and my class size varied between one person to four or five. I utilized my summer tutoring job to make sure my knowledge didn't atrophy over the long summer breaks and to improve my communication skills involved in teaching others.
Feedback from my students was generally positive and many returned in the following years. Overall, I love tutoring as a both a recreational and a financial interest.
EXTRACURRICULAR INTERESTS
I was born and raised in the
Clear Lake area of
Houston and my family hails from
Taiwan. I graduated from
Clear Lake High School as salutatorian in
2013 and currently attend the
University of Texas at Austin as a pre-medical and
Health Science Honors student.
Outside of academics, I love gaming, specifically
League of Legends and
Hearthstone. Concerning tutoring, the main
point I want students to know about me is that I focus on making sure they understand the concepts and theory behind a problem rather than just finding the answer.
