Soon, app to track status of infra projects

Noida: Want a flyover or an underpass in your area? Or want streelights installed near your house? No need to crib. You will soon be able to press your demand for infrastructural facilities in the city through your mobile phone.

The Noida Authority will next week launch a mobile application that will enable citizens to get details of nearly 1,800 infrastructure projects in the city — from conception to approval to completion — and allow people to log in their demands for infrastructure facilities like underpass, flyover, footover bridge, park, street lights, footpath, etc in a particular area.

Officials said the aim is to not only empower citizens and ensure greater transparency, but also to provide a 360 degree view of the city.

The mobile app will be linked to the Authority's website www.noidaauthorityonline.com and will be available for download through 'Google play store'. Currently, junior engineers, assistant project engineers and project engineers are undergoing training sessions for operating the app smoothly. "Once the training is complete, we will launch the app sometime next week," Rama Raman, CEO of Noida Authority, told TOI on Saturday.

According to Raman, every project — be it in the engineering department, civil, electrical, water, sanitation or horticulture — will have a presence online from its planning, and estimation stage to execution.

"The aim is to provide citizens and everyone interested, a tool to track the progress of the projects in their locality from end to end, besides providing the status of infrastructure projects and our future plans. The focus is public participation and to override concerns of over time and cost overrun in completion of infrastructure projects," he said.

Explaining the working of the app, Raman said the application also has a powerful smart milestone-wise monitoring system in place.

"This will ensure timely execution of projects by alerting contractors and officials from junior engineers to the chairman and CEO via SMS and emails. Officials will also be provided with a monitoring dashboard, which will alert officials as to where a particular demand for a project is pending," he said.

Officials said the facility will also have the option to upload photographs of the progress of a project, apart from an option to view online project review meetings.

"People will also be able to log in their demands for infrastructure facilities like underpass, flyover, foot over bridge, park, street lights, footpath, etc in a particular area. We will review the request and also upload details of whether it was accepted or rejected," Raman said.
