WBZ radio, others could be up for sale in Boston
CBS Corp. confirmed plans that it will sell or spin off its radio stations, including a group in Boston.
CBS' (NYSE: CBS) radio properties in Boston include WBZ-AM, WBMX-FM, WBZ-FM (98.5 The Sports Hub), WODS-FM and WZLX-FM.
CBS CEO and chairman Leslie Moonves announced the sale plans during an Investor Day presentation on Tuesday in New York. CBS owns 117 stations in 26 markets across the country, according to Variety.
And Entercom — the owner of WEEI, WRKO and WAAF — could become a potential key component, according to the Herald.
“There aren’t a lot of people out there who can buy all the markets,” said Bruce Mittman, owner of Community Broadcasting, which boasts 44 small-market radio stations, told the Herald. “But Entercom could buy a couple of markets, including Boston.”
