Quest is an award-winning monthly popular science magazine published in Diemen, Netherlands.

History and profile

Quest was launched in February 2004. The magazine is part of Gruner + Jahr and is published by G+J Uitgevers on a monthly basis.

The headquarters of the magazine is in Diemen. The magazine features articles on science and technology with a special reference to nature, health, psychology and history. Target audience of the magazine is people between 20 and 49 years of age. The monthly has several special supplements, Quest Psychologie, Quest Historie, Quest Image and Quest 101.

Karlijn van Overbeek served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine until her death in 2010. Then Thomas Hendriks was appointed to the post.

The magazine is also distributed in Belgium. In 2011 the English version of Quest was launched by Gruner + Jahr in South Africa with the same name. The magazine is published on a bimonthly basis there.

Quest has won the Mercur Magazine Award several times since its start in 2004. The magazine received the award in 2004, in 2007 and in 2009. It was named as the Launch of the Year 2004 and the Magazine of the Year for 2010.

Quest (2006 film)

Quest (Marathi title: Thang) is a 2006 bilingual English and Marathi Indian drama film directed by Amol Palekar, starring Mukta Barve, Rishi Deshpande, Mrinal Kulkarni in lead roles. The film is last part of the trilogy on sexuality, which includes Daayraa (The Square Circle, 1996) and Anahat (Eternity, 2001). It is an urban story of a woman who discovers that her husband is homosexual. It was premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) on 5 August 2006 .

This is first English language film made by Palekar. Both the version in Marathi and English were shot simultaneously, and the shooting was completed in 25 days.

At the 54th National Film Awards, it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English.

Finger Eleven

Finger Eleven is a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 1990. They have released seven total studio albums (six as Finger Eleven and one as Rainbow Butt Monkeys), with their album The Greyest of Blue Skies bringing them into the mainstream. The 2003 self-titled album achieved Gold status in the United States and Platinum in Canada, largely from the success of the single "One Thing", which marked the band's first placing on the US Hot 100 Chart at number 16. Their 2007 album, Them vs. You vs. Me, launched the single "Paralyzer", which went on to top numerous charts including the Canadian Hot 100 and both US rock charts, as well as reaching No. 6 on the US Hot 100 and No. 12 on the Australian Singles Chart. They won the Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year in 2008. It was later certified gold status in the US and multi platinum in Canada. They released their sixth studio album, Life Turns Electric, on October 5, 2010; it was nominated for a Juno Award for Best Rock Album of the Year. They released their first single, "Living in a Dream", adding a little bit of more of funk rock and dance rock, just like their hit song "Paralyzer". Five Crooked Lines, their 7th studio album, was released July 31, 2015, with "Wolves and Doors" as the lead single.

Quicksand (Welsh band)

Quicksand were a band from Port Talbot in Wales who were active from 1969 until 1975.

History

Originally formed in 1969, they featured Michael “Will” Youatt (bass), Jimmy Davies (guitar) and Anthony Stone (drums). This line up recorded one single "Passing By"/"Cobblestones" (both written by Youatt) in 1970. Youatt left to join briefly Piblokto! then Man. Phil Davies (bass) and Robert Collins (keyboards) then joined the band. A second single "Time To Live"/"Empty Street, Empty Heart" was released in 1973 and was soon followed by the album Home Is Where I Belong later the that year. The band ceased to exist in 1975 when Davies formed Alkatraz with Youatt.

Subsequent careers

After the band split up Collins became a sound man, initially for Man, but later for such people as Eric Clapton. Davies re-joined Youatt in a new band Alkatraz who recorded one album Doing a Moonlight for United Artists.

Vulnicura

Vulnicura is the ninth studio album by Icelandic musician and singer Björk. It was produced by Björk, Arca and The Haxan Cloak, and released on 20 January 2015 by One Little Indian Records. Björk said the album expresses her feelings before and after her breakup with artist Matthew Barney and the healing process.

Vulnicura was originally scheduled for release in March 2015, in conjunction with the Björk: Archives book and an exhibition about Björk's career at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City; following an internet leak, it was released digitally two months early. No singles were released to promote the album. Vulnicura received widespread acclaim from critics, with many considering it one of her most honest and personal albums as well as her best output in a decade.

The companion album Vulnicura Strings (Vulnicura: The Acoustic Version – Strings, Voice and Viola Organista Only) (or simply Vulnicura Strings) was released on CD and digital download on 6 November 2015, and on vinyl 4 December 2015. It features strings-only interpretations of the Vulnicura tracks and utilizes an instrument designed by Leonardo da Vinci called the Viola organista.
