Ben Zobrist hit a three-run home run, Anthony Rizzo also connected and Jon Lester worked out of a pair of jams to lead the NL Central-leading Cubs over the second-place Pirates 6-2 Wednesday for a three-game sweep ... The left-hander has allowed one run or none in five of six starts this season. Pittsburgh loaded the bases in the fourth and put runners on first and second in the fifth — both times with no outs....

Gerrit Cole allowed six runs (five earned) in 4 2/3 innings in the opener, and Juan Nicasio followed up his best start of the season by giving up four runs (one earned) in 4 1/3 innings ... Pittsburgh made crucial errors -- some of them on tough plays, like McCutchen's drop that could have been the final out of the third inning -- and the Cubs made them pay....

He lost to the Reds for the first time Wednesday, allowing home runs by Brandon Phillips, Eugenio Suarez, Zack Cozart and Dam Duvall in the San Francisco Giants' 7-4 loss. Three of the home runs were hit in the second, when Cincinnati took a 5-1 lead ... The swing-and-miss stuff looks fine, to the point of punching out eight today....

Justin Smoak hits a game-tying home run in the 9th inning before blasting a walk-off shot in the 10th, lifting the Blue Jays to a win. Tulowitzki entered play Wednesday hitting .167 (16-for-96) with five home runs and 13 RBIs in 27 games. Smoak hit his first home run of the season in the ninth inning of Tuesday's victory and later hit a two-run walk-off homer in the 10th ...
