Boston Police officer was shot around 6:40 p.m. at Humboldt Avenue and Ruthven Street. A second ambulance was summoned for a suspect, also shot, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Rare video of Boston Police pursuing a suspect, taking him down and arresting him. The first Boston Police car you see is responding the wrong way on Boylston Street and then turns left -- again the wrong way on a one-way street -- onto Berkeley Street. Another police car arrives on Berkeley Street and cuts off the suspect who is running. The quick-thinking police officer opens up his door, striking the suspect as he attempts to flee. The hit by the police car's door throws the suspect off balance and he falls to the ground just behind the police car. The officer runs around the cruiser and appears to punch the suspect a few times in order to subdue him and put him in handcuffs. Another Boston Police car arrives responding the wrong way on Boylston Street as do other police cars both marked and unmarked.
Note the completely blue lightbars of BPD.
BTW: That is not me yelling "Turn on your lights!"

The Boston Police Department (BPD), established in 1838, holds the primary responsibility for law enforcement and investigation within the city of Boston, Massachusetts. It is the 2nd oldest police department in the United States, after Philadelphia's. The BPD is also the 20th largest law enforcement agency in the country and the 3rd largest in New England behind the Massachusetts State Police (2,100 officers) and the Massachusetts Department of Correction (4,000 officers).
Before the existence of a formal police department, the first night watch was established in Boston in 1635. In 1703, pay in the sum of 35 shillings a month was set for members of the night watch. In 1796, the watch was reorganized, and the watchmen carried a badge of office, a rattle, and a six-foot pole, which was painted blue and white with a hook on one end and a bill on the other. The hook was used to grab fleeing criminals, and the rounded “bill” was used as a weapon. The rattle was a noise-making device used for calling for assistance.

Boston (pronounced /ˈbɒstən/ or locally /ˈbɔstən/ (
listen)) is the capital of and largest city in Massachusetts, and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. The largest city in New England, Boston is regarded as the unofficial "Capital of New England" for its economic and cultural impact on the entire New England region. The city proper, covering only 48.43 square miles, had a population of 617,594 according to the 2010 U.S. Census. Boston is also the anchor of a substantially larger metropolitan area called Greater Boston, home to 4.5 million people and the tenth-largest metropolitan area in the country. Several early battles of the American Revolution, such as the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston, occurred within the city and surrounding areas. Through land reclamation and municipal annexation, Boston has expanded beyond the peninsula. After American independence was attained Boston became a major shipping port and manufacturing center, and its rich history now helps attract many tourists, with Faneuil Hall alone attracting over 20 million every year. The city was the site of several firsts, including America's first public school, Boston Latin School (1635), and the first subway system in the United States (1897).

A police officer (also known as a policeman or policewoman, and constable in some forces, particularly in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth nations) is a warranted employee of a police force. In the United States, "officer" is the formal name of the lowest police rank; in many other countries "officer" is a generic term not specifying a particular rank, and the lowest rank is often "constable". Typical duties relate to keeping the peace, law enforcement, protection of people and property, and the investigation of crimes. "BOSTON (WHDH) - A cell phone video shows a Boston Police officer wrapping his hands around the neck of a suspect on handcuffs during an incident in Roslindale. The suspect was mouthing off towards officers immediately before they arrested two other people on drug charges. The person yelling at officers is identified as 18-year-old Elvin Vargas. Vargas has been charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Vargas's brother claims the incident constitutes police brutality. Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said there was no brutality during the incident. He said the suspect was disrespectful and uncooperative. Plot: The Charlestown neighborhood of Boston is renowned for churning out a high number of armed robbers, generation after generation. These robbers never leave their Charlestown life on their own volition, the neighborhood where there is an unwritten code to protect that lifestyle. Such robbers include friends Doug MacRay, James Coughlin, Albert 'Gloansy' Magloan and Desmond Elden. Doug and James in particular treat each other like family, as the Coughlins have realistically been as such to Doug since Doug's mother ran off and Doug's father, Stephen MacRay, was sent to prison. James' single mother sister, the drugged out Krista Coughlin, and Doug have a casual sexual relationship. The foursome carry out a mostly successful bank robbery, but due to circumstances take the bank manager, Claire Keesey, hostage for a short period before releasing her physically unharmed. They find out that Claire lives in Charlestown, so they want to ensure that she did not see anything that could incriminate them if they were to ever run into her. As such, Doug begins a personal relationship with her to find out what she knows and what she's told the police and the FBI, who have taken charge of the investigation. He learns that she has kept some information from the authorities for her own protection but information that could identify James in particular. But Doug slowly falls for her, as she does for him. Ultimately, Doug dreams about leaving his Charlestown life to be with Claire anywhere but there. But Doug has to try and keep his true identity from her, and keep the fact that he is seeing her from his colleagues. But leaving is not as easy as he would like as he and the gang are tasked with a big job by a local gangster named Fergie whether Doug likes it or not. And Adam Frawley, the FBI's lead investigator, comes into evidence that links the foursome to the bank robbery and a subsequent armored car heist, so is on their tail for evidence that will send them away dead or alive.

Boston Police officer was shot around 6:40 p.m. at Humboldt Avenue and Ruthven Street. A second ambulance was summoned for a suspect, also shot, but he was declared dead at the scene. -

Rare video of Boston Police pursuing a suspect, taking him down and arresting him. The first Boston Police car you see is responding the wrong way on Boylston Street and then turns left -- again the wrong way on a one-way street -- onto Berkeley Street. Another police car arrives on Berkeley Street and cuts off the suspect who is running. The quick-thinking police officer opens up his door, striking the suspect as he attempts to flee. The hit by the police car's door throws the suspect off balance and he falls to the ground just behind the police car. The officer runs around the cruiser and appears to punch the suspect a few times in order to subdue him and put him in handcuffs. "BOSTON (WHDH) - A cell phone video shows a Boston Police officer wrapping his hands around the neck of a suspect on handcuffs during an incident in Roslindale. The suspect was mouthing off towards officers immediately before they arrested two other people on drug charges. The person yelling at officers is identified as 18-year-old Elvin Vargas. Vargas has been charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Vargas's brother claims the incident constitutes police brutality. After the devices were removed, the Boston Police Department stated in their defense that the ad devices shared "some characteristics with improvised explosive devices," which they said included an "identifiable power source, a circuit board with exposed wiring, and electrical tape." Investigators were not mollified by the discovery that the devices were not explosive in nature, stating they still intended to determine "if this event was a hoax or something else entirely." Although city prosecutors eventually concluded there was no ill intent involved in the placing of the ads, the city continues to refer to the event as a "bomb hoax" (implying intent) rather than a "bomb scare."

After the devices were removed, the Boston Police Department stated in their defense that the ad devices shared "some characteristics with improvised explosive devices," which they said included an "identifiable power source, a circuit board with exposed wiring, and electrical tape." Investigators were not mollified by the discovery that the devices were not explosive in nature, stating they still intended to determine "if this event was a hoax or something else entirely." Although city prosecutors eventually concluded there was no ill intent involved in the placing of the ads, the city continues to refer to the event as a "bomb hoax" (implying intent) rather than a "bomb scare."

(We're not making this up) This morning at a Suffoklk County Superior Court hearing, the City of Boston alleged (among other things) that the food tent at OB needed to become more sanitary. This evening, OccupyBoston responded to this criticism by bringing in a brand new Kitchen sink... or at least we tried. This morning at a Suffoklk County Superior Court hearing, the City of Boston alleged (among other things) that the food tent at OB needed to become more sanitary.
This evening, OccupyBoston responded to this criticism by bringing in a brand new Kitchen sink... or at least we tried.
The Boston Police Department felt the sink was contraband, and STOLE IT FROM US. What followed is a 40 minute standoff, which resulted in the sink being incarcerated (we don't know which precinct it was taken to, we expect it to be held without bail)
It appears that the Boston Police Department would like a Food-Borne illness to spread throughout OB, who do they protect? who do they serve?
