Northeast Florida Model Railroaders presents the 1/87 HO scale modular model railroad featuring a one lap cab ride provided by an MTH SD70ACe on April 16, 2014. The cab ride represents our club layout as it is today. Al Fraser added a Florida Swamp and Orange grove modules adding twelve feet of new real estate for our trains to negotiate. Randy's diesel yard is currently in place of the steel mill. The steel mill is the club's cornerstone and a crowd pleaser. The steel mill is undergoing an electrical overhaul and technological upgrade. The steel mill will return soon. Carl Corsi refurbished two modules that featured the cattle fiasco with Florida State Troopers and created warehousing with an industrial bakery. Frank is adding a logging scene to his exsisting modules and a mountain side for logging trains. Ted Clark removed his two modules for various upgrades and will return soon. After the cab ride the SD70ACe enters the yard and then plays around inside the diesel house. Our layout is controlled by the latest NCE digital command control system (DCC) and features model railroad manufactures such as Athearn, Broadway Limited Imports, Bachmann Trains, Mikes Train House (MTH) etc. Northeast Florida Model Railroaders represents the greater Jacksonville Florida metropolitan area and is a group of model railroad enthusiasts who strive to educate and share our hobby with public open houses and around the world through our videos. At our home location in Jacksonville Florida our layout is twenty two feet wide and eighty feet long housed inside a 9,000 square foot warehouse.
The camera used to create the cab ride effects and the overall video is a Sony High Definition Action Cam HDR-AS10 featuring the Carl Zeiss Tessar HD lens system. Log on to www.neflamodelrr.org to learn more.

I know they aren't South Florida Snook but it's good enough for us!

Florida (
i/ˈflɒrɪdə/) is a state in the southeastern United States, bordered to the west by the Gulf of Mexico, to the north by Alabama and Georgia and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Florida has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, encompassing approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state to border both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and its terrain is characterized by sedimentary soils. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south. Its symbolic animals like the American alligator, Florida panther and the manatee, can be found in the Everglades, one of the most famous national parks in the world.

Northeast Florida Model Railroaders presents the 1/87 HO scale modular model railroad featuring a one lap cab ride provided by an MTH SD70ACe on April 16, 2014. The cab ride represents our club layout as it is today. Al Fraser added a Florida Swamp and Orange grove modules adding twelve feet of new real estate for our trains to negotiate. Our layout is controlled by the latest NCE digital command control system (DCC) and features model railroad manufactures such as Athearn, Broadway Limited Imports, Bachmann Trains, Mikes Train House (MTH) etc. Northeast Florida Model Railroaders represents the greater Jacksonville Florida metropolitan area and is a group of model railroad enthusiasts who strive to educate and share our hobby with public open houses and around the world through our videos. At our home location in Jacksonville Florida our layout is twenty two feet wide and eighty feet long housed inside a 9,000 square foot warehouse.

The Metro-Dade Cultural Center is situated Downtown where several Spanish-style buildings surround a large plaza that is decorated with colourful and contemporary works of art. The Florida Keys are a group of thirty one coral islands that extend from Miami on the southern point of Florida, to the Caribbean, the first and largest of which is Key Largo that was made famous by a Hollywood movie of the same name. Bonita Springs with its Everglades Wonder Gardens is situated north west of Miami close to the Gulf Of Mexico and features the animals of the Everglades. This wildlife refuge was created in 1936 and was later enlarged with botanical gardens and further animals from all over the world. On the east coast of the Florida Peninsula, Cape Canaveral juts out into the Atlantic. As far back as 1949 the ‘Rocket Trials Zone’, as it was then known, was built here, an area that has been further developed and extended to become the world famous Space Station that it is today. Today Fort Lauderdale is a popular residential area located on the south Atlantic coast where its harbour and sandy beaches are situated in front of newly built skyscrapers. As far back as 1949 the ‘Rocket Trials Zone’, as it was then known, was built here, an area that has been further developed and extended to become the world famous Space Station that it is today. Today Fort Lauderdale is a popular residential area located on the south Atlantic coast where its harbour and sandy beaches are situated in front of newly built skyscrapers. If there was ever a city dedicated to enjoyment, then Orlando is it. Even the most cursory drive through the city will tell you one thing: there is no disguising the fact Orlando is a city built on theme parks. Lots of them. Strange to think that until 1966, though, there was precious little here in central Florida. A few roadside attractions aside, it was one man, Walt Disney, who really changed the scenery here. No matter which way you slice it, growth has spiralled thanks to a huge influx of tourists that followed the arrival of Walt Disney World Resort.
Almost all of Florida's cities and resorts are based around its long coastline, naturally capitalising on the beaches or swampland national parks that attract so many international visitors. Orlando is the only real exception, a strange, idiosyncratic place in the middle of the Floridian wasteland, and coincidentally one of the most famous resort towns in the world.
There are conflicting legends as to how the city of Orlando came by its name, from heroic soldiers to local cattle ranchers to a nod to Shakespeare. Whatever the case may be, some 47 million tourists a year come to see the place for themselves.
From the original Magic Kingdom, which opened in 1971, the colossal Disney empire has added three more theme parks, two water parks and a host of associated developments, including hotels, shops and golf courses to make it a true 'World' resort.
With Disney setting the example, SeaWorld (three theme parks) and Universal (two) have added to Orlando's reputation as the family entertainment capital of the world. Between them, they draw nearly 50 million visitors every year, and that has meant a huge growth in associated hotels, restaurants and shops, plus a host of smaller-scale attractions.
However, this young city has also developed its own identity that stretches beyond the wearing of plastic mouse ears and thrill rides. There are a significant number of high-tech industries relocating here, and the downtown area is fast developing yuppie overtones. There are even ambitious plans to become a major cultural centre. Orlando is also the USA's number two convention location; the attraction for incentive activities for competing sales teams is no mystery.

If there was ever a city dedicated to enjoyment, then Orlando is it. Even the most cursory drive through the city will tell you one thing: there is no disguising the fact Orlando is a city built on theme parks. Lots of them. Strange to think that until 1966, though, there was precious little here in central Florida. A few roadside attractions aside, it was one man, Walt Disney, who really changed the scenery here. No matter which way you slice it, growth has spiralled thanks to a huge influx of tourists that followed the arrival of Walt Disney World Resort.
Almost all of Florida's cities and resorts are based around its long coastline, naturally capitalising on the beaches or swampland national parks that attract so many international visitors. Orlando is the only real exception, a strange, idiosyncratic place in the middle of the Floridian wasteland, and coincidentally one of the most famous resort towns in the world.
There are conflicting legends as to how the city of Orlando came by its name, from heroic soldiers to local cattle ranchers to a nod to Shakespeare. Whatever the case may be, some 47 million tourists a year come to see the place for themselves.
From the original Magic Kingdom, which opened in 1971, the colossal Disney empire has added three more theme parks, two water parks and a host of associated developments, including hotels, shops and golf courses to make it a true 'World' resort.
With Disney setting the example, SeaWorld (three theme parks) and Universal (two) have added to Orlando's reputation as the family entertainment capital of the world. Between them, they draw nearly 50 million visitors every year, and that has meant a huge growth in associated hotels, restaurants and shops, plus a host of smaller-scale attractions.
However, this young city has also developed its own identity that stretches beyond the wearing of plastic mouse ears and thrill rides. There are a significant number of high-tech industries relocating here, and the downtown area is fast developing yuppie overtones. There are even ambitious plans to become a major cultural centre. Orlando is also the USA's number two convention location; the attraction for incentive activities for competing sales teams is no mystery.

Come take a ride and look inside our new CSX diesel house fueling and servicing facility. Our new state of the art facility includes a quick fuel service island. Observe the busy railroad workers keeping one of the nations premiere railroads on the rails. Don't overlook the complimentary freight terminal busy loading and unloading much needed railroad replacement parts and equipment to keep the mighty diesels running. You'll notice the freight terminal just before you enter the diesel house. Randy Jaerger just completed a six foot by two foot module inserted into the Northeast Florida Model Railroaders module layout. Each module is completed according the National Model Railroad Associations (NMRA) module standards. This particular module has thirteen tortoise remotely controlled turnouts activated by four DCC Specialties "Wabbits" decoders. Our layout is larger since we've installed the renovated massive steel mill.

The module compliments the existing diesel yard with another Walthers diesel house servicing facility and a small freight terminal by Model Power.
