Hi it's Sheri from CruiseTipsTV.
Today we are going to take a look at another hotel in one of our favorite
Cruise destinations. This time it's the
Villa del Palmar in
Cabo San Lucas. In this video we cover:
The Exterior
The Lobby
Room 1303
The Gym
Pools & Amenities
The Arcade
Bella California Restaurant
Let's get started with the exterior. This is the entrance, and the lobby is just inside the arched glass area. Here you'll find the market, deli, ice cream shop and the
Laundromat. As we pan right we see the building that houses the
Arcade and Gym. There's no spa here, but there's a fantastic spa just down the way at the Villa del
Arco, the third in the
Villa Group hotels here in Cabo. You can take a free shuttle between all three resorts.
And now for the best part- the ocean side of the hotel
. In the distance, the famous arches that make
Lands End so spectacular. Here's the large hot tub with a view- it's very close to the bar, and people tend to congregate here later in the afternoon, when the pool area gets shady. From this viewpoint, you can get a sense for the three buildings that make up the Villa del Palmar complex. Here's another shot of the beach - just because we think this seagull looks cool in slow motion.
On the beach you'll often find vendors lined up patiently waiting for your business.
Welcome to the lobby. The check in desk on the left is for members, and guests of members. The check in on the right is for hotel guests. It gets quite loud in here during peak check in hours, but the tropical vibe puts you right into the vacation mood.
Through the center here, there's a large sitting area. The outdoor buffet and entertainment area is on the other side of the glass walls, near the upper pool. Up here are hallways leading to the guestrooms in this building.
This is room 1303 . This is a 1 bedroom,2 bath room on third floor room in a relatively quiet area of the hotel. You'll see a newer flat screen TV, and behind the couch a
Murphy bed that pulls down if you need extra space. The kitchen is well stocked and has a stovetop, blender, coffee pot, microwave and fridge, and is a great way to feel at home and save a bit of money while you're in Cabo.
Here's the first of two bathrooms just off the living area. And here is the bedroom, and second bathroom. This Room is nice and close to the lower pool, but far enough away from the entertainment area to be pretty quiet in the evenings. And last but not least, the beautiful balcony, overlooking the pool and the
Sea of Cortes!
This is the fitness center. As you can see, there's plenty of cardio equipment and nothing was out of order during our visit. Over here, we have the nautilus machines, and off in the corner, there's a nice mirrored area with quite a few free weights. This building also houses a hospitality suite for late check outs, and very nice mens and womens locker rooms with saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. The equipment seems new, and in excellent shape, and the space is pretty large. We found this gym to be in great condition compared to some other resorts in the area.
This is the upper pool area at the Villa Del Palmar. This is the quiet, adult pool. The shaded area under the main hotel building is where the big evening buffets and nighttime entertainment take place. Now you can see the lower pool. Now for a quick look at the children's pools, which are just on the other side of the Restaurant, Bella California. Here's a look at the infamous whale slide. On the other side of that waterfall is a little grotto with a nice, shaded hot tub.
And one more look at the slide. The slide is very fast, and empty's into a deep pool.
Be prepared for a thrill! There's also a kids club and a place to book tours and other activities right onsite. They even have one of those giant chess boards
The arcade is located near the market, deli, and ice cream shop on the driveway (or entrance side) of the hotel.
It's not your traditional arcade with buzzing and flashing machines.
It's more of a high tech arcade, with individual gaming workstations, and lots of comfortable seating. We haven't noticed a lot of people spending time here, but that may be the time of day we visited, or the fact that the beach is much more inviting.
Lastly here's a quick peek at the lovely, oceanfront Bella California restaurant. We ate here several times during our stay, and the food
and atmosphere was wonderful.
That's it for this episode.
