Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as propane, is a nonrenewable gaseous fossil fuel, which turns to liquid under moderate pressure. LPG, a by-product of natural gas processing and oil refining, includes various mixtures of hydrocarbons. The type of LPG used as a motor vehicle fuel is a liquid mixture containing at least 90 percent propane, 2.5 percent butane and higher hydrocarbons, and the balance is ethane and propylene. The mixture is commonly called "propane" among general consumers, but motor vehicle operators using the fuel refer to it as LPG. In 1910, under the direction of Dr. Walter Snelling, the U.S. Bureau of Mines investigated gasoline to see why it evaporated so fast and discovered that the evaporating gases were propane, butane, and other light hydrocarbons. Dr. Snelling built a still that could separate the gasoline into its liquid and gaseous components and sold his propane patent to Frank Phillips, the founder of Phillips Petroleum Company. By 1912, propane gas was cooking food in the home. The first car powered by propane ran in 1913. By 1915 people were using propane in torches to cut through metal. LPG has been used as a transportation fuel, mainly in heavy trucks and forklift vehicles, around the world for more than 60 years. On December 28th , 1984, a preventable tragedy in the giant gas-works on the outskirts of Mexico City left 500 dead and public facilities crammed with injured people. The LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) was stored in massive million-gallon containers which was a disastrous mistake. The gas should have been stored in smaller receptacles in various locations to prevent a calamity like this occurring. On January 30, 2007, four people were killed and five others were seriously injured when propane vapors from a storage tank ignited and exploded at the Little General convenience store and gas station in Ghent, West Virginia. Propane was used as fuel inside the building, which was completely destroyed. The US Chemical Safety Board has produced an excellent DVD on this tragic incident, Half An Hour to Tragedy which is available for viewing and free downloading at http://www.csb.gov/videoroom/detail.aspx?vid=15&F=0&CID=1&pg;=1&F;_All=y . In the hope of not dying in a fire explosion, I'm bringing the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) installation aboard up to code. All I'm able to fit aboard my boat are two 3 kg butane canisters. That'll have to do :) Luckily I've found some plans on the internet for building the required box in which the two butane canisters will sit.

Liquefied petroleum gas
Liquefied petroleum gas or liquid petroleum gas (LPG or LP gas), also referred to as simply propane or butane, are flammable mixtures of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles.
It is increasingly used as an aerosol propellant and a refrigerant, replacing chlorofluorocarbons in an effort to reduce damage to the ozone layer. When specifically used as a vehicle fuel it is often referred to as autogas.
Varieties of LPG bought and sold include mixes that are primarily propane (C
3H
8), primarily butane (C
4H
10) and, most commonly, mixes including both propane and butane. In the northern hemisphere winter, the mixes contain more propane, while in summer, they contain more butane. In the United States, primarily two grades of LPG are sold: commercial propane and HD-5. These specifications are published by the Gas Processors Association (GPA) and the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM). Propane/butane blends are also listed in these specifications.

On December 28th , 1984, a preventable tragedy in the giant gas-works on the outskirts of Mexico City left 500 dead and public facilities crammed with injured people. The LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) was stored in massive million-gallon containers which was a disastrous mistake. The gas should have been stored in smaller receptacles in various locations to prevent a calamity like this occurring. On January 30, 2007, four people were killed and five others were seriously injured when propane vapors from a storage tank ignited and exploded at the Little General convenience store and gas station in Ghent, West Virginia. Propane was used as fuel inside the building, which was completely destroyed. In the hope of not dying in a fire explosion, I'm bringing the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) installation aboard up to code. All I'm able to fit aboard my boat are two 3 kg butane canisters. That'll have to do :) Luckily I've found some plans on the internet for building the required box in which the two butane canisters will sit.

To obtain many fuel oils, crude oil is pumped from the ground and is shipped via oil tanker or a pipeline to an oil refinery. #Opel #Insignia, has received the prestigious European award "Car of the Year" in 2009, immediately after the release on the market, has become even more popular in the late summer of 2013, when the second generation model was presented.
Insignia is available in five variants - hatchback, notchbek, wagons and Sports Tourer Country Tourer, as well as OPC. In Europe, the most popular body color Graphite Black and Snow White.
Insignia is available with petrol and diesel engines, as well as c engine running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Basic version with 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine with 140 hp, Start-Stop system and a manual gearbox with the reduced level of friction available in Europe at a price of 24,515 euros in a richly equipped version of Business Edition.
In addition, the Insignia is now offered with a high-tech 2.0-liter diesel engine. The new ultra-modern 170-hp engine, manufactured in Kaiserslautern, impressive power, low fuel consumption and harmful emissions, noise and vibration.

Some oils burn in liquid or aerosol form, generating light, and heat which can be used directly or converted into other forms of energy such as electricity or mechanical work. To obtain many fuel oils, crude oil is pumped from the ground and is shipped via oil tanker or a pipeline to an oil refinery. There, it is converted from crude oil to diesel fuel (petrodiesel), ethane (and other short-chain alkanes), fuel oils (heaviest of commercial fuels, used in ships/furnaces), gasoline (petrol), jet fuel, kerosene, benzene (historically), and liquefied petroleum gas. A 42-gallon barrel (U.S.) of crude oil produces approximately 10 gallons of diesel, 4 gallons of jet fuel, 19 gallons of gasoline, 7 gallons of other products, 3 gallons split between heavy fuel oil and liquified petroleum gases,[12] and 2 gallons of heating oil. The total production of a barrel of crude into various products results in an increase to 45 gallons.[12] Not all oils used as fuels are mineral oils, see biodiesel and vegetable oil fuel.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, whale oil was commonly used for lamps, which was replaced with natural gas and then electricity
