Snowzilla Fireside Chat /
January 25th, 2016".
Background transitions to
University President Bobbi, SBG President
Mary, and
Vice President Ethan.
Bobbi:
Hello!
Welcome to Snowzilla Fireside Chat #2.
We are here at Fireplace #2 in House One here at Gallaudet University.
This vlog was made possible by the SBG cabinet, who came over here to create this vlog for the community. Here with me are President Mary, and Vice President Ethan.
Thank you for coming here to make this possible.
Mary: We have two of the same SBG shirts, perhaps soon we will give you another one!
Ethan:
Yes!
Bobbi: I am looking forward to that!
Thank you.
On a more serious note, if I can shift the topic for a moment,
Gallaudet just lost a beloved employee. His name was Sean
Patrick Kerins. I want to acknowledge his family, friends, and co-workers friends here on this campus. We all lost a very good friend and colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and especially his family.
Mary: I would like to mention that the community deserves recognition for helping, supporting and working with one another during the past weekend, especially during the power outage and the blizzard. We had a fun and positive way to respond by coming together as one. We truly appreciate that. Thank you.
Ethan: Definitely. She's right. The community here is strong.
Recently, SBG worked with GaIN organization to shovel for
DC residents who are disabled or elderly. We shoveled to clear the paths for them and to create a more clean and safe environment.
Bobbi: In the midst of making decisions about the snowstorm, today we learned that the
University will be closed for yet another day. So, I would like to share with you all that the upcoming
SOTU speech I am supposed to give has been postponed to next Tuesday,
February 2nd at 12:30-1:00PM in Elstad
Auditorium.
Please come. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Mary: We look forward to seeing all of you there, too. The student-hosted Welcome
Reception for our new president this Thursday will still commence at 12:30 to
2PM at
MPR. I hope to see ALL of you there!
Ethan: The university has been closed several times over the past few days. This shouldn’t mean we should fall behind with our courses.
Policy expects us to keep up, so you are encouraged to contact your professors to ensure you remain on track with your courses.
Bobbi: Thank you both for our Fireside Chat tonight, and thank you to the cabinet for being with us and making this possible. You are truly a strong example of strength in our community, and of what we are capable of when we all work together. Thank you.
Mary: This past weekend really showed that when we all unite, Gallaudet becomes a stronger community and we all get a better experience of being here at this University. Thank you for watching.
Ethan: Yes.
Stay warm and stay safe!
