As wedding photographers and cinematographers, we get to shoot ... A LOT! But something is always missing, something that got us into our profession in the first place ... shooting for ourselves. Our trip to Ladakh this fall was intended to address the same.
The idea was to just stop, stare and admire at the miracles of Nature in the dry desert territory. This also sounded like the perfect womb for making a timelapse or two. But alas ...we got addicted! The trip spanned over 15 days and we came back with pretty amazing sequences. Here we present to you our timeless journeys in Ladakh.
This project also helped us to get deep understanding of timelapses, motion controlled shot, moon phases, dynamic range and so on. So if you have a timelapse project, contact us on our social media below.

We went on a 22 days road ride uncovering some of the beautiful places in India. We were welcomed by some of the toughest roads to drive but yet beautiful making it once in a life time experience. We travelled in August 2015 covering Delhi, Chandigarh, Kalpa, Kaza, Sangla , Leh, Pangong Tso, Hunder, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Wagah Border and back to Delhi. the rod trip was about 4000 Kms and every bit of the road threw a new challenge and the whole trip was memorable.

With India in Motion, my goal is to showcase the incredible beauty of India through time lapse videos.
Here is the first instalment towards fulfilling that goal. A time lapse showcase of Ladakh. I spent 3 months in Ladakh (6 weeks in Autumn and 6 weeks in the Winter) shooting these videos.
I do this on a shoe string budget. Spending around 300 Rupees (~5$) a day. In Autumn, I traveled around Ladakh on my motorbike and in the Winter I hiked and hitchhiked my way through this wonderful land. It was a lot of fun!. I camp a lot, both to minimize costs and to be at the right location at the right time, and stay in village homestays wherever I can. The warmth and generosity of the Ladakhi hospitality is an inspiration for all of us to emulate.
It is a long video. I tried to make it interesting by arranging these sequences based on their location.
Some major locations like Nubra and Zanskar are missing. The weather during the fall was not ideal (it was the time of the Srinagar floods). The winter sequences are short. I had to keep them short while shooting in order to save my camera batteries and also my fingers and toes!
Technically, it has issues too. First off are the hot pixels that are stuck to the frames during the night timelapses. And there is quite a bit of flicker too when the scenes transition from Day to Night. I tried my best to remove them, but the flickr is still there. So yeah, the video is not perfect. Life never is. All we can do is to keep on improving.
My next goal is to cover Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. I'am currently in Manali working on this and a few other things.

Ladakh (Wylie: la-dwags, Ladakhi [lad̪ɑks], Hindi: लद्दाख़, Urdu: لدّاخ [ləd̪ˈd̪aːx]; "land of high passes") is a region of Jammu and Kashmir, the northernmost state in the control of the Republic of India. It is however disputed territory between Pakistan and India. It lies between the Kunlun mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Historically, the region included the Baltistan (Baltiyul) valleys, the Indus Valley, the remote Zangskar, Lahaul and Spiti to the south, Aksai Chin and Ngari, including the Rudok region and Guge, in the east, and the Nubra valleys to the north.
Contemporary Ladakh borders Tibet to the east, the Lahaul and Spiti to the south, the Vale of Kashmir, Jammu and Baltiyul regions to the west, and the trans–Kunlun territory of Xinjiang to the far north. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture. It is sometimes called "Little Tibet" as it has been strongly influenced by Tibetan culture.

But something is always missing, something that got us into our profession in the first place ... shooting for ourselves. Our trip to Ladakh this fall was intended to address the same. The idea was to just stop, stare and admire at the miracles of Nature in the dry desert territory. This also sounded like the perfect womb for making a timelapse or two. But alas ...we got addicted! LEH LADAKH ROAD TRIP
We went on a 22 days road ride uncovering some of the beautiful places in India. We were welcomed by some of the toughest roads to drive but yet beautiful making it once in a life time experience. We travelled in August 2015 covering Delhi, Chandigarh, Kalpa, Kaza, Sangla , Leh, Pangong Tso, Hunder, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Wagah Border and back to Delhi. the rod trip was about 4000 Kms and every bit of the road threw a new challenge and the whole trip was memorable. -

With India in Motion, my goal is to showcase the incredible beauty of India through time lapse videos. Here is the first instalment towards fulfilling that goal. A time lapse showcase of Ladakh. I spent 3 months in Ladakh (6 weeks in Autumn and 6 weeks in the Winter) shooting these videos. I do this on a shoe string budget. Spending around 300 Rupees (~5$) a day. In Autumn, I traveled around Ladakh on my motorbike and in the Winter I hiked and hitchhiked my way through this wonderful land. It was a lot of fun!. I camp a lot, both to minimize costs and to be at the right location at the right time, and stay in village homestays wherever I can. With India in Motion, my goal is to showcase the incredible beauty of India through time lapse videos.
Here is the first instalment towards fulfilling that goal. A time lapse showcase of Ladakh. I spent 3 months in Ladakh (6 weeks in Autumn and 6 weeks in the Winter) shooting these videos.
I do this on a shoe string budget. Spending around 300 Rupees (~5$) a day. In Autumn, I traveled around Ladakh on my motorbike and in the Winter I hiked and hitchhiked my way through this wonderful land. It was a lot of fun!. I camp a lot, both to minimize costs and to be at the right location at the right time, and stay in village homestays wherever I can. The warmth and generosity of the Ladakhi hospitality is an inspiration for all of us to emulate.
It is a long video. I tried to make it interesting by arranging these sequences based on their location.
Some major locations like Nubra and Zanskar are missing. The weather during the fall was not ideal (it was the time of the Srinagar floods). The winter sequences are short. I had to keep them short while shooting in order to save my camera batteries and also my fingers and toes!
Technically, it has issues too. First off are the hot pixels that are stuck to the frames during the night timelapses. And there is quite a bit of flicker too when the scenes transition from Day to Night. I tried my best to remove them, but the flickr is still there. So yeah, the video is not perfect. Life never is. All we can do is to keep on improving.
My next goal is to cover Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. I'am currently in Manali working on this and a few other things.

Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 2: Manali (21st June 2015):
Arrive in Manali at 9 am, leisure day in Manali, chill out at hot spring waters in Vashishtha Village, hang out at various cafes in Old Manali, or just chill by a lonely stretch of the Beas river
Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 3: Manali -- Jispa (22nd June 2015):
After breakfast leave for Jispa (5--6 hours drive via Rohtang Pass, where landscape changes from lush green Manali side to arid, rugged peaks of Lahaul & Chandra Valley). The afternoon is free to explore. Night rest at guest house in Jispa.

Today is one of the longest days of this delhi to leh by road holiday wherein we cross the high altitude passes of Baralachala & Lachangla, then the mighty Skyangchu thang (Biggest & highest plateau on earth on a stretch of 42 Kms). After crossing the mighty Tanglalng la we start descending towards the Indus Valley. We will check--in to the Guest House in Leh by late evening.
Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 5: Leh (24th June 2015):
Discover the monasteries of Indus Valley including Thiksey, Shey, Stok & Matho. Spend the evening discovering the local culture of Leh.
Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 6: Leh -- Nubra Valley (Khardung La) (25th June 2015):
Journey towards the ancient Silk Route via the highest motorable road on earth (Khardungla 18384 feet). Visit the famous Deskit Gompa of Nubra Valley. Walk on the sand dunes and ride the double humped camel (Bactrian camels brought to Ladakh by ancient Silk Route traders). Night Stay in Nubra.
Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 7: Nubra -- Leh (26th June 2015):
By late afternoon we come back to Leh and chill or roam around Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace & Leh Monastery.
Ladakh Road Trip Day 8: Leh- Pangong Tso (27th June 2015):
Today in this delhi to leh by road holiday you will discover the myriad colours and shades of Pangong lake. Leave Leh in the morning and cross the third highest motorable pass (Changla) on earth. Spend good 3--4 hours by the great Pangong, 2/3rd of which lies inside the China border. Overnight at Camps by the Pangong Lake.
Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 9: Pangong Tso -- Leh (28th June 2015):
Wake up calls by the migratory birds this morning. Indulge in the walk beside the lake or go for your photography splurge. Arrive at Leh in second half. Evening free. Overnight in Leh .
Leh Ladakh Road Trip Day 10: Leh -- Delhi (29th June 2015):
Alas ! Your Delhi to leh by road holiday comes to an end today as you are transferred to the airport for your flight back to Delhi.

Comprising a region north of the Ganges flood plains, to the east of Nepal, over the foothills and high mountain passes all the way to the former Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh and the fabled earthly paradise Kashmir, the Himalayas represents the least populated and arguably most beautiful region of all India. So, what are the main highlights?
Well, heading out of Delhi the first place you'll probably come to is Shilma, former summer capital to the British Raj echoing the history of that era, before moving on to Dharamsala, the home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans in Exile. Close to here there are some wonderful walking trips to do staying with local villages in their authentic but comfortably converted homes.
Further north is an old favourite of the hippy era, Manali, which is the last town before the high passes, some at over 5,000m that will quite literally take your breath away, lead you to Ladakh.
Sandwiched between the vast ranges of the Karakoram and Himalayas, Ladakh is the highest, most remote and least populated region in the country. Formerly a part of Tibet, it's a Buddhist state, home to some extraordinary landscapes, some stunning architecture, great walking and fascinating people.
And finally we move on to Kashmir -- where I am now. As one of the oldest tourist destinations in the world -- a place favoured by Moghul emperors, British memsahibs and 60s hippies -- the beauty of the Vale of Kashmir has had poets waxing lyrical for millennia... And for good reason. Famed for its cool, clear summer air, its alpine meadows and its tranquil lakes Kashmir is a region like no other. Throw in the quirky and atmospheric wooden houseboats and the lifting of the British Foreign Office advice against travel here in November 2012, and you have everything you need for a unique adventure holiday destination.
