Golfo di Napoli (Italy) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Vacation travel video about destination
Golfo di
Napoli in
Italy.
The Gulf Of
Naples is the cradle of
European culture situated in the south of Italy. Naples gave its name to the Gulf and its famous islands. The
Centro Storico Monumentale is situated at the harbour with the large Piazza Del Plebi Cito and the
Triumph Church that was built following the return of the
Bourbons and modelled on the
Pantheon of Rome.
The island is dominated by a building which in ancient times was the residence of
Lucullus, the Castel
Dell´Ovo.
Early in the morning the first ferries bring passengers, goods and vehicles to various islands in the
Gulf of Naples. Measuring four square kilometres,
Procida is the smallest island off Naples, is densely populated and has a long history.
Ischia is the island of
Titan Tiphoios, the largest of the three islands in the Gulf Of Naples, each one now being a popular tourist destination. Both Ischia
Porto and Ischia
Ponte appear to have developed together with their modest houses, palazzi of the rich and fine
Baroque churches.
Capri is a magical place, the quintessence of romance and a dream that re-awakes each and every day and
Capri Village with its small main square, the ‘
Salon Of
Europe’, is an enchanting location set within a striking rocky landscape.
Vibrant cities, amazing islands and a paradise of nature and ancient worlds, all harmoniously united on the ‘coast of light’ in the truly captivating Gulf Of Naples.

2014.11.26 - Michael Buckley (Topic: Meltdown in Tibet)
2014.11.26
Speaker:
Michael Buckley
Author &
Filmmaker
Topic:
Meltdown in
Tibet
Michael Buckley will explain how he shifted from writing guidebooks about Tibet to becoming an environmentalist, uncovering eco-disasters that loom in Tibet and beyond. His new book, Meltdown in Tibet, is a startling expose of environmental destruction on the
Tibetan plateau, through the building of mega-dams, extensive mining and grassland degradation. This has severe effects not only in Tibet but far beyond, across
China and deep into
India and a dozen other nations that lie downstream along the mighty rivers flowing out of Tibet.
Mr.
Buckley is also a filmmaker of three documentaries about major environmental issues in Tibet —the documentaries in fact form the research base for the book. He co-authored an initial guidebook to Tibet in
1986. His other books include Tibet: the Bradt
Travel Guide;
Heartlands:
Travels in the
Tibetan World; and Eccentric
Explorers. A freelance adventure travel writer and photographer, he has traveled extensively throughout
Southeast Asia and the
Himalayan and Karakoram ranges.

The Guide provides practical advice on getting into, around and out of Morocco, including information on taking a dog, which maps and guidebooks are recommended, and where to get tickets at a good price. The Guide provides a view of independent travel; we considered using a tour company but the cost was prohibitive, and we also found travelling indepently gave us the freedom to roam and interact with locals more closely.

The Adventure Issue is finally here! In the first of our themed editions we’ve jam-packed this one with all things motorcycle in the spectrum of adventure: bikes, gear and travel including a complete tyre guide, where to ride, what to take, tips and tricks and of course a mud-flinging group test of bikes.
So as we go to print here’s a word from
AMCN Editor,
Kel Buckley.
If there’s one thing this issue has made clear to me it’s that you actually don’t need an adventure bike to go adventure riding.
Nearly all the riding and adventures we’ve undertaken these last few weeks in a bid to compile and create this epic issue – aside from the very pointy end of hard-nose gnarly stuff – could be and probably has been done umpteen times on a well-packed loaded-up superbike.
Sure, this issue is aimed specifically at long-legged adventure touring, from acquiring the right skills, and the right tyres, and the right bike to take you to the right places. But what I really hope this issue does is inspire you, whatever bike you’ve got parked in the garage, to just saddle up and set off.
Whether it’s a mid-week dash up into the hills for a campfire feed, a sleep under the stars, and be back at your desk by 9am (Youngy did it, check it out on page 50), whether it’s a full lap of this beautiful big country of ours (Sam did it, check it out on page 105) or a multi-day escapade on some of the roads less travelled in your state (
Peter Whitaker gives you the hot tips from page 58), it doesn’t really matter. Because motorcycling by definition is adventure travel. That’s what gets us out of bed each day and that’s exactly what we want to celebrate in this special edition of AMCN.
For me there’s nothing better than that feeling of packing, stacking and tying down everything you need to survive for a week in the bush (or a couple of nights at
Phillip Island) on to the pillion seat of a motorcycle before taking off and leaving it all behind – the phone, the inbox and the news feeds.
There’s simply no better way to see the world than through a visor. Go on, get out there.
Experience it for yourself.
Take a sneak-peek inside the covers of this edition, and watch the video teaser of our on and off-road escapade putting it together. The Adventure Issue is on sale from 9 July.

wn.com/Australian Motorcycle News 'Adventure Issue' Vol 65 No 01 | Inside This Edition
