Allied soldiers escape from a desert prison camp and are chased across Libya by Arabs and Nazis.
Daniel Thatcher is an American sergeant serving with a British tank corps in North Africa. He and most of his unit are captured by the Germans, who learn his identity as a man who once tried to assassinate Josef Goebbels, Hitler's right-hand man. Thatcher's wife was killed in the concentration camps, and now, after his failed attempt to kill the Nazi leader, Thatcher is a real prize for his captors. But Thatcher prefers not to go back to Germany as a prize, so he leads his fellow tankers in an escape attempt.

Cayo Petronio, ha mandado adornar su casa con mucho cuidado, con ornamentos y flores, pues ha invitado a sus íntimos amigos a cenar con él, junto a su esclava, amada, y amante, Eunice (Marina Berti), quién permanece a su lado incondicionalmente. Llama a un médico, que, obedeciendo su orden le corta las venas del antebrazo, comienza a sangrar, Eunice se sorprende con aquella actitud aparentemente inesperada, y, rápida, toma también el instrumento cortante, y cercena, sin más ni más, las suyas propias. Petronio le reprende, mas, la joven está decidida a morir con su amado.
El árbitro de la elegancia, llama a un escriba, para dictar una carta que será enviada a Nerón. En ella dice al emperador que él le perdona por haber incendiado Roma, por haber asesinado a su madre Agripina y a su esposa Octavia, por perseguir a los cristianos y culparlos de los crímenes por él cometidos... pero no, en sus palabras, "tus aburridas canciones, tus ramplones poemas, tus versos de tercera categoría". A continuación, le implora: "por favor, Nerón: ¡No mutiles las Artes!". Los amantes mueren. Séneca atina a exclamar: Con Petronio se va lo mejor de nuestro tiempo.
Séneca, fiel a la promesa hecha a su amigo Petronio, entrega la misiva a Nerón. It is the fictitious story about an American who enlists in the British Parachute Regiment in 1940, claiming to be a Canadian. It is notable as the first film made by Irving Allen's and Albert R. Broccoli's Warwick Films, with many of the crew later working on various films for Warwick Films and Broccoli's Eon Productions. It is partly based on the 1950 non-fiction book with the same title, about the Parachute Regiment and its first operation, Operation Biting, in February 1942, written by Hilary Saint George Saunders.

Leo Genn
Leo John Genn (9 August 1905 – 26 January 1978) was a British stage and film actor and barrister.
Early life and family
Genn was born at 144 Kyverdale Road, Stamford Hill, Hackney, London, the son of Woolfe (William) Genn, a jewellery salesman, and Rachel Genn née Asserson. His parents were both Jewish.
Genn attended the City of London School and studied law at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, qualifying as a barrister in 1928. He ceased practising as a lawyer soon after World War II. On 14 May 1933, Genn married Marguerite van Praag, a casting director at Ealing Studios. They had no children.
Career
Theatre career
Genn's theatrical debut was in 1930 in A Marriage has been Disarranged at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne and then at the Royalty Theatre in Dean Street, London. Actor/manager Leon M. Lion had engaged him simultaneously as an actor and attorney. In 1933 he appeared in Ballerina by Rodney Ackland. Between September 1934 and March 1936, Leo Genn was a member of the Old Vic Company where he appeared in many productions of Shakespeare. In 1937 he was Horatio in Tyrone Guthrie's production of Hamlet, with Laurence Olivier as Hamlet, in Elsinore, Denmark. In 1938, Genn appeared in the theatrical hit, The Flashing Stream by Charles Langbridge Morgan and went with the show to America and Broadway. His many other stage performances included Lillian Hellman's Another Part of the Forest, 12 Angry Men, The Devil's Advocate, Maugham's The Sacred Flame. In 1959 Genn gave a reading in Chichester Cathedral.

Daniel Thatcher is an American sergeant serving with a British tank corps in North Africa. He and most of his unit are captured by the Germans, who learn his identity as a man who once tried to assassinate Josef Goebbels, Hitler's right-hand man. Thatcher's wife was killed in the concentration camps, and now, after his failed attempt to kill the Nazi leader, Thatcher is a real prize for his captors. But Thatcher prefers not to go back to Germany as a prize, so he leads his fellow tankers in an escape attempt.

Llama a un médico, que, obedeciendo su orden le corta las venas del antebrazo, comienza a sangrar, Eunice se sorprende con aquella actitud aparentemente inesperada, y, rápida, toma también el instrumento cortante, y cercena, sin más ni más, las suyas propias. Petronio le reprende, mas, la joven está decidida a morir con su amado.
El árbitro de la elegancia, llama a un escriba, para dictar una carta que será enviada a Nerón. En ella dice al emperador que él le perdona por haber incendiado Roma, por haber asesinado a su madre Agripina y a su esposa Octavia, por perseguir a los cristianos y culparlos de los crímenes por él cometidos... pero no, en sus palabras, "tus aburridas canciones, tus ramplones poemas, tus versos de tercera categoría". Stars are seen preparing for the evening. Diana Dors looking super glamorous leaves a film studio (Pinewood?) in an amazing car. Janette Scott has a dress fitting by Michael Whittaker (?), Sheila Sim and Richard Attenborough get ready together and rush out of a room after grabbing their tickets.
Miss Walters the manageress of the cinema inspects her usherettes. Jock McGregor (?) hands out programmes and heart shaped collecting boxes to "starlets" who have volunteered to help out for the evening . Proceeds will go to the Actor's Orphanage and Variety Club's Heart Fund. Good shots of photographers and cameramen getting ready to take pictures of the star guests. Also girl reporter with notebook. Various shots of crowds outside Warner Theatre, Leicester Square and their counterparts at the earlier American premiere on New York's Broadway (more rowdy). We see stars: Danny Thomas, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Clark Gable, Jack Carson and Judy Garland.

Flashback to preparations for the premiere during the daytime - neon lights and signs erected, flowers are delivered, polishing and cleaning etc. Organising committee look at a plans for the evening. Stars are seen preparing for the evening. Diana Dors looking super glamorous leaves a film studio (Pinewood?) in an amazing car. Janette Scott has a dress fitting by Michael Whittaker (?), Sheila Sim and Richard Attenborough get ready together and rush out of a room after grabbing their tickets.
Miss Walters the manageress of the cinema inspects her usherettes. Jock McGregor (?) hands out programmes and heart shaped collecting boxes to "starlets" who have volunteered to help out for the evening . Proceeds will go to the Actor's Orphanage and Variety Club's Heart Fund. Good shots of photographers and cameramen getting ready to take pictures of the star guests. Also girl reporter with notebook. Various shots of crowds outside Warner Theatre, Leicester Square and their counterparts at the earlier American premiere on New York's Broadway (more rowdy). We see stars: Danny Thomas, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Clark Gable, Jack Carson and Judy Garland.
