Featuring the music of Stoney Brannies as well as interviews where he discusses how he became homeless, how he found his way back to God, and how he deals with his current situation living in a tent under a bridge in Savannah, GA. "I had overlooked my many blessings and was doubtful, discontent, and discouraged with God, my life, and my current situation. I wanted and desperately needed a change…a chance…an opportunity. So, I prayed for just that. I found myself spending a weekend in close quarters with several of my community’s financial successes and spiritual leaders. It was there that God answered my prayer, but not the way I expected. There, among the lawyers, real estate moguls, Senior V.P.’s, etc., I was drawn to a country singer/guitar picker named Stoney. I soon learned that Stoney was homeless. And though he has next to nothing in this world, he is content in his faith and letting God use him right where he is. After the sting of conviction passed, I found encouragement and inspiration from this unlikely source. Through my developing relationship with this homeless musician that I now consider my friend, God has restored my faith, renewed my appreciation, and refocused my spiritual vision. One result of this experience is the short, documentary film, “Next To Nothing: a story about Stoney and me and God”. The documentary delves deeper into the specific circumstances that resulted in Stoney’s homelessness, what it means to live as a homeless Christian in America, and how God can be found in the darkest and most unlikely places. I hope that God will speak to others through this film in the way that He has spoken to me through the experience.
