The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight anti-poverty targets that the world committed to achieving by 2015. Enormous progress has been made on the MDGs, showing the value of a unifying agenda underpinned by goals and targets. Despite this success, the indignity of poverty has not been ended for all.

The SDGs will now finish the job of the MDGs, and ensure that no one is left behind.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched its Asia-Pacific Regional Report ‘Achieving Development Results in Asia and the Pacific’, highlighting a string of successful programmes implemented in 2013 and 2014. The report covers results achieved in 36 countries and territories in the Asia and Pacific region. It illustrates UNDP’s support to poverty reduction and conservation of natural resources, strengthening democratic governance, building resilience and responding to crisis.
