Music by Antonio, Live from Sala Mexicali. A big storm blew through late at night from the East the night prior, it was very fortunate we were in the West side lee cove of Racha Yai. Nonetheless, it was a sleepless night for me. What was a beautiful early evening and night of calm scerenity and privacy, turned into shit show by 10am morning time, when all the cattle boats from Phuket arrived, listing with Chinese tourists, all eager to splash about in the water, seeking to get maimed by propellers. I watched as one snorkeling tourist bumped his head into my hull, looking down, totally unaware of his surroundings, unfortunately I didn't have that on video. Another brave tourist attempted to head butt my hull, while the engine was running nonetheless, by my first mate Jo shooed her away... disappointed really, I wanted to capture it on video. LESSON LEARNED: The Beneteau Cyclades 43.4 has 17 porthole and window hatches. With all 17 open, it is nice and cool and breezy inside. However, when doing an openwater passage, no matter how routine or short distance, best advised to close and seal ALL hatches... particularly when you see white caps on the horizon. You see, going down into the cabin to close all the hatches WHILE you are in the middle of the whitecap situation, cleaning the water that splashed in WHILE you are in the middle of a whitecap situation, is not really something you want to be doing. It is not an enjoyable experience. Take it from Captain Soggy.
