F-35 Joint Strike Fighter • One Cool Jet Plane
The F-35 is the world's most advanced multi-role fighter jet. It can take off in a short hop, plus it can hover and land like a helicopter. The short takeoff and vertical landing capabilities (STOVL) of the F-35 makes it ideally suited for carrier operations as in this video. It also has stealth technology which makes it virtually invisible to radar.

http://www.mountvernonaviationexpo.com – A Jet You Can Actually Afford! By Dan Johnson.
Be honest with yourself. You always wanted to fly a jet, didn't you? Having your very own jet to rocket around the sky would be so cool, right? C'mon ... who wouldn't love that? The trouble is affording one of the darn things and then paying through the nose to fuel and maintain it.
Well, the good folks at Sonex Aircraft have long prided themselves on (and have achieved the goal of) offering modestly priced airplane kits that the rest of us can afford. How about a jet airpane (kit) for less than many ready-to-fly LSA? Yep, Sonex says "base price" is $130,000 and while that may still be a chunk of change for many, you have to admit it is reasonably affordable as jets go.
Those of you planning to attend Sun 'n Fun 2015 — and I hope that is many of you! — will be able to check out SubSonex JXS-2 Personal Jet and you can catch its first-ever airshow act. You may have seen it fly at their home field of Oshkosh but you ain't seen nothin' yet!
After being absent since 2006, Sonex Aircraft is returning to Sun 'n Fun with an official exhibitor presence at the 2015 event in Lakeland, Florida. Look for the company's distinctive yellow airplanes in the North East Exhibit area, booth NE-29 where they will have an AeroVee Turbo-powered Sonex Sport Acro along with SubSonex.
The Wisconsin kit manufacturer also plans several forums including one for prospective SubSonex Personal Jet owners (on Friday, April 24th).
SubSonex JSX-2 is available as a kit aircraft and the company noted the first seven customer kits were delivered in early 2015, with production slots still open for delivery by year-end.
The microjet aircraft is powered by the PBS TJ-100 engine, producing 247 pounds of thrust. It features a larger cockpit, larger instrument panel, fully retractable landing gear, a BRS whole airframe emergency parachute, higher fuel capacity in a rotationally molded cross-linked polyethylene fuel cell, easily removable wings, and a more sculpted and aesthetically pleasing nose section.
Sonex announced that their SubSonex Air Show, flown by renowned performer Bob Carlton, will make its worldwide debut at the 2015 Sun 'n Fun show, saying that Bob is scheduled to perform on Tuesday, April 20th and Sunday, April 26th.
The company said their SubSonex air show routine will feature maneuvers previously unheard of in a jet aerobatic routine. "The SubSonex microjet is capable of speeds of 300 mph," said Bob Carlton, "and can perform all the classic aerobatics, including maneuvers like tailslides, normally considered taboo in a jet. However, it's not just about high speed. With its incredibly wide speed range, the SubSonex can turn tight and stay close so that air show spectators aren't waiting for a turnaround."
Sold only as a quick-build kit, SubSonex includes almost everything required to fly with the exception of avionics and paint. Available options for the JXS-2 include MGL Avionics' iEFIS touchscreen, a Mountain High oxygen system, Aveo PowerBurst LED position and strobe lighting, heated leather upholstery, cabin heat, and a Triton TC 167 enclosed trailer modified to transport the SubSonex. Transition Training is available; contact the company for details.

http://www.mountvernonaviationexpo.com – A Jet You Can Actually Afford!

Buckle up and get ready to take a ride in a US Military Harrier Jump jet aircraft. The Harrier, informally referred to as the Harrier Jump Jet, is a family of military jet aircraft capable of vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) operations. The Harrier was developed in Britain to operate from ad-hoc facilities such as car parks or forest clearings, avoiding the need for large air bases vulnerable to tactical nuclear weapons. Later the design was adapted for use from aircraft carriers. The Harrier is also distinct as being of modern era, yet subsonic, contrasting with most of the major Western post–World War II–era fighter aircraft, which tend to be supersonic.
There are two generations of four main variants of the Harrier family:
Hawker Siddeley Harrier
British Aerospace Sea Harrier
Boeing/BAE Systems AV-8B Harrier II
BAE Systems/Boeing Harrier II
The Hawker Siddeley Harrier is the first generation-version and is also known as the AV-8A Harrier. The Sea Harrier is a naval strike/air defence fighter. The AV-8B and BAE Harrier II are the US and British variants respectively of the second generation Harrier aircraft.
Role V/STOL strike aircraft
National origin United Kingdom
Manufacturer Hawker Siddeley
BAe/McDonnell Douglas
Boeing/BAE Systems
First flight 28 December 1967
Introduction 1969
Status In service
Primary users United States Marine Corps
Italian Navy
Royal Spanish Navy
Indian Navy
Produced 1967–2003
Developed from Hawker P.1127
Variants Hawker Siddeley Harrier
BAe Sea Harrier
McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II
BAe Harrier II
Development[edit]
Background[edit]
Following an approach by the Bristol Engine Company in 1957 that they were planning a directed thrust engine, Hawker Aircraft came up with a design for an aeroplane that could meet the NATO specification for a "Light Tactical Support Fighter". There was no financial support for the development from HM Treasury, but aid was found through the Mutual Weapon Development Project (MWDP) of NATO.
The Hawker P.1127 was ordered as a prototype and flew in 1960. NATO developed a specification (NBMR-3) for a VTOL aircraft, but one that was expected to have the performance of an aircraft like the F-4 Phantom II. Hawker drafted a supersonic version of the P.1127, the P.1150, and also the Hawker P.1154 which would meet NBMR-3. The latter was a winner of the NATO competition and development continued, initially for both services, until cancelled, by the new government on cost grounds, at the point of prototype construction in 1965.
Work on the P.1127 continued with 9 evaluation aircraft, the Hawker Siddeley Kestrel, ordered. These started flying in 1964 and were assessed by the "Tri-partite Evaluation Squadron" which consisted of British, US and German pilots. With the cancellation of the P.1154, the RAF ordered a modified P.1127/Kestrel as the Harrier GR.1 in 1966.
First-generation Harriers[edit]
The Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.1/GR.3 and the AV-8A Harrier were the first generation of the Harrier series, the first operational close-support and reconnaissance attack aircraft with vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) capabilities. These were developed directly from the Hawker P.1127 prototype and the Kestrel evaluation aircraft.
The British Aerospace Sea Harrier is a naval V/STOL jet fighter, reconnaissance and attack aircraft, a development of the Hawker Siddeley Harrier. The first version entered service with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm in April 1980 as the Sea Harrier FRS.1, and was informally known as the Shar. The upgraded Sea Harrier FA2 entered service in 1993. It was withdrawn from Royal Navy service in March 2006. The Sea Harrier FRS Mk.51 is in active service with the Indian Navy, which operates the jet from its aircraft carrier INS Viraat.
Second-generation Harriers[edit]
The Harrier was extensively redeveloped by McDonnell Douglas and British Aerospace (now parts of Boeing and BAE Systems respectively), leading to the Boeing/BAE Systems AV-8B Harrier II.[1] This is a family of second-generation V/STOL jet multi-role aircraft, including the British Aerospace-built Harrier GR5/GR7/GR9, which entered service in the mid-1980s. The AV-8B is primarily used for light attack or multi-role tasks, typically operated from small aircraft carriers. Versions are used by several NATO countries, including Spain, Italy, and the United States. The BAE Systems/Boeing Harrier II is a modified version of the AV-8B Harrier II that was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Navy until 2010.
Between 1969 and 2003, 824 Harrier variants were delivered. While manufacture of new Harriers concluded in 1997, the last remanufactured aircraft (Harrier II Plus configuration) was delivered in December 2003 which ended the Harrier production line.[2]

Sub for more: http://nnn.is/the_new_media | United States European Command just released details on an extremely dangerous aerial encounter that occurred over the Black Sea.
The event occurred when a Russian S U 27 jet fighter came within just 20 feet of a U S R C 1 35 reconnaissance aircraft when it was well within international airspace and far away from any Russian territory.
Navy Captain Daniel Hernandez, chief spokesman for the U.S. European Command, told the Washington Free Beacon quote, “On January 25 an R C 1 35 aircraft flying a routine route in international airspace over the Black Sea was intercepted by a Russian S u 27 in an unsafe and unprofessional manner. We are looking into the issue.”
U S officials reported the S U 27 flew alongside the R C 1 35, then performed an aggressive banking turn away from the intelligence jet disturbing the controllability of the U S aircraft.

Operation[edit]
The Harrier Jump Jet, capable of taking off vertically, can only do so at less than its maximum loaded weight. In most cases a short take off is performed,

The Vought F-8 Crusader was a single-engine, supersonic, carrier-based air superiority jet aircraft built by Vought for the United States Navy and Marine Corps, replacing the Vought F7U Cutlass, and for the French Navy. The first F-8 prototype was ready for flight in February 1955, and served principally in the Vietnam War. The Crusader was the last American fighter with guns as the primary weapon, earning it the title "The Last of the Gunfighters".
The RF-8 Crusader was a photo-reconnaissance development and operated longer in U.S. service than any of the fighter versions. RF-8s played a crucial role in the Cuban Missile Crisis, providing essential low-level photographs impossible to acquire by other means. U.S. Naval Reserve units continued to operate the RF-8 until 1987.

Note: This is video 1 of 2, Time 0:00-9:27
It was supposed to be a supersonic homebuilt jet aircraft that could cruise at up to M 1.14 on a single GE J85 and a range of about 1,200 miles. It also was fully capable of exceeding a climb rate of 12,000 Feet Per Minute (achieving 10,000 feet from take off in under 40 seconds)
Unfortunately, due to the design of the aircraft structurally, there was an accident and Jim Bede canceled the program.
The accident related to vertical tail stabilizer failure when the test pilot was testing Mach 1.0+ capabilities. This resulted in structural failure and a fatal crash.
The total price of this aircraft was to be well under $1 million.
(Give me 2 days locked in a room and I could have solved those issues completely).
Anyways, if this aircraft was fixed and made sound structurally, it would be dominating the the market today.

A fighter aircraft is a military aircraft designed primarily for air-to-air combat against
other aircraft,[1] as opposed to bombers and attack aircraft, whose main mission is to attack
ground targets. The hallmarks of a fighter are its speed, maneuverability,
and small size relative to other combat aircraft.
Many fighters have secondary ground-attack capabilities,
and some are designed as dual-purpose fighter-bombers; often aircraft that do not fulfill
the standard definition are called fighters. This may be for political or national security reasons,
for advertising purposes, or other reasons.[2]
