New Musical Express (NME) is a British music journalism magazine published since 1949. It is largely associated with rock, alternative and indie music. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in the edition of 14 November 1952. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music newspaper. During the period 1972 to 1976, it was particularly associated with gonzo journalism (self-involved reporting), then became closely associated with punk rock through the writings of Julie Burchill, Paul Morley and Tony Parsons. It started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s and 1990s, changing from newsprint in 1998.
An online version of NME, NME.com, was launched in 1996. It became the world's biggest standalone music site, with over seven million users per month. The magazine's paid circulation in the first half of 2014 was 15,830, and has been in long-term decline. Due to continuing poor sales, the magazine became a free publication in September 2015.
Magazines are publications, usually periodical publications, that are printed or electronically published (the online versions are called online magazines.) They are generally published on a regular schedule and contain a variety of content. They are generally financed by advertising, by a purchase price, by prepaid subscriptions, or a combination of the three. At its root, the word "magazine" refers to a collection or storage location. In the case of written publication, it is a collection of written articles. This explains why magazine publications share the word root with gunpowder magazines, artillery magazines, firearms magazines, and, in various languages although not English, retail stores such as department stores.
By definition, a "magazine" paginates with each issue starting at page three, with the standard sizing being 8 3/8" x 10 7/8". However, in the technical sense a "journal" has continuous pagination throughout a volume. Thus Business Week, which starts each issue anew with page one, is a magazine, but the Journal of Business Communication, which starts each volume with the winter issue and continues the same sequence of pagination throughout the coterminous year, is a journal. Some professional or trade publications are also peer-reviewed, an example being the Journal of Accountancy. Academic or professional publications that are not peer-reviewed are generally professional magazines. The fact that a publication calls itself a "journal" does not make it a journal in the technical sense. The Wall Street Journal is actually a newspaper.
The Strokes are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1998, consisting of Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), Nikolai Fraiture (bass) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums, percussion).
The band met widespread critical acclaim upon the release of their debut album, Is This It in 2001. A number of members have embarked on a variety of side projects, though they regrouped for a fifth album, titled Comedown Machine, released on March 26, 2013. They have sold over 5 million albums.
They are one of the many garage rock bands to hail from the US at the dawn of the 21st century and helped augment the garage rock revival movement. Their debut album, Is This It, was ranked number 199 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, number 4 on NME's 500 greatest albums of all time, number 8 on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Debut Albums of All Time and number 2 on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Albums of the 2000s.
The 1975 are a British alternative rock band formed in Manchester. The group consists of Matthew Healy (vocals, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums, backing vocals) and Ross MacDonald (bass).
They have released four EPs, while their self-titled debut album was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit/Polydor. The album debuted at number 1 in the UK Albums Chart on 8 September 2013. The band has toured internationally.
Matthew Healy (b. 8 April 1989), the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy, grew up in Newcastle and Manchester. He met Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann and George Daniel at Wilmslow High School. In Wilmslow, Cheshire, south of Manchester, as teenagers and began to play music in 2002. The band formed when the local council worker organised a number of gigs for teenagers. Healy found Hann who "came up to [him] and said he wanted to play one of these shows." The band began by playing a number of covers until they "eventually wrote a song," according to Healy. "We started from then and we've been making music together since we were about 15." After Hann invited the members to form a band, they passed their early days covering punk songs in a local club. Healy was originally the drummer but took over vocals after the previous singer left to start another band. George Daniel was recruited as the new drummer to complete the final line-up.

Disc 1 from a compilation DVD. Videos were edited out to avoid copywrite. Motörhead (/ˈmoʊtərhɛd/) were an English rock band formed in June 1975 by bassist, singer, and songwriter Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister, who was the sole constant member, guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. The band are often considered a precursor to, or one of the earliest members of, the new wave of British heavy metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Though several guitarists and drummers have played in Motörhead, most of their best-selling albums and singles feature the work of "Fast" Eddie Clarke on guitar and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums. Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums, and five EPs over a career spanning 40 y...

The audio is also broken up into four segments as it appears on the promo disc. This show more commonly appears on the well-circulated bootlegs 'Excuse Me... I'm The Singer' and 'Happy'. The KLF (aka The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, The Timelords) were a British acid house band of the late 1980s and early 1990s. With The KLF's profits, Drummond and Cauty established the K Foundation and sought to subvert the art world, staging an alternative art award for the worst artist of the year. Then they did something no artist has ever done before or since. Watch Part 4 to see what they did...... From the outset, they adopted the philosophy espoused by esoteric novel series The Illuminatus! Trilogy, gaining notoriety for various anarchic situationist manifestations, including the defacement of billboard adverts, the posting of prominent cryptic advertisements in NME magazine and the mainstream press, and highly distinctive and unusual performances on Top of the Pops. https://www.y...

One of Japan's biggest techno legends, Ken Ishii, played a mind-blowing techno set at Razzmatazz, Barcelona on 30/05/2014. See how he uses multiple CDJ's and vinyl players at the same time to make perfect use of his incredible mixing skills! Japanese techno star Ken Ishii is among the most innovative, experimental composers in contemporary techno. Although working in and drawing from a decidedly dancefloor-oriented, Detroit-derived framework, Ishii's exploration of avant-garde compositional techniques like chromaticism and the prominent influence of digital synthesis figures him as strongly deviant from Motor City aesthetic tradition. He has released work under his own name as well as under the pseudonyms FLR, Flare, UTU, Yoga and Rising Sun. Ken Ishii debuted on the legendary Belgian te...
