Two years later he is invited back for an audience with Clinton, who, rightly, predicts that he will be Britain's next Prime Minister. Thus begins the 'special relationship' between the two, though Clinton is clearly the senior partner with Blair seeking his advice on Northern Ireland. The situation in Kosovo however reverses the roles as Blair forces American intervention by a reluctant president and is seen in the American media as the hero of the hour. As Clinton accuses his ally of stabbing him in the back the special relationship starts to sour and, with Clinton ultimately out of the White House,Blair takes his first photo call with the next incumbent,Bush.

Quotes:
Tony Blair: You've learned nothing from me, Gordon - absolutely nothing. Because if you had, you would have acquired at least a *hint* of charisma. But then you and charisma have never really been on speaking terms.::Gordon Brown: The public don't want charisma any more - what they want is honesty.::Tony Blair: Instead of which, they get you!
[Tony Blair is reading a newspaper report]::Tony Blair: Oh my God. George is back in rehab.::Cherie Blair: George?::Tony Blair: Bush. George Bush. Oh God, he was found comatose on his ranch.::Cherie Blair: [drily] I'm surprised anyone noticed.::Tony Blair: He's my friend. All right? George is my friend. We went through hell together.::Cherie Blair: Oh, I thought you sent other people to do that.
[Now led by Gordon Brown, Labour have just won a fourth term in office - but with an absurdly small majority. Gordon rings Tony.]::Tony Blair: Gordon, my congratulations.::Gordon Brown: I am heading for a majority of two, for God's sake. Two!::Tony Blair: Well a majority's a majority.::Gordon Brown: It's going to be a bloody disaster.::Tony Blair: It's the historic fourth term, Gordon.::Gordon Brown: You are electoral death!::Tony Blair: I don't think you can blame *me* for what you call your ludicrously small majority.::Gordon Brown: You've held onto power for far too long, Tony.::Tony Blair: Oh really? Well quite frankly if I'd packed it in sooner you'd only have had more time to balls it up, wouldn't you?
[Tony is meeting the publisher of his memoirs who is very critical of the book and recommends a lot of changes to it.]::Publisher: I think the chapters on the Iraq War could be trimmed - the book would benefit and sales would benefit.::Tony Blair: You will not cut a word of those chapters. I did not take this country to war in order to be popular.::Publisher: [drily] Well you certainly succeeded there.::Tony Blair: [pauses for thought] I took this country to war because it was the right thing to do. It was the right thing for Britain and one day history will judge me. And it'll be the liberal journalists, the sneering intellectuals, the appeasers, the bloodless, spineless chattering classes of which you are obviously a member, those will be the ones found wanting, those'll be the ones in the dock of history, not me. Because if I'd listened to all the *moral* cowards, like you, then that murdering bastard Saddam Hussain would still be in power. So cut one word from those memoirs and, so help me, I'll take it away from you.::Publisher: Then you won't mind if it's so laughable and ridiculous and poorly-written that no-one wants to read it.
Cherie Blair: Here's that RCI information I was telling you about.::Tony Blair: RCI?::Cherie Blair: Rite of Christian Initiation.::Tony Blair: But I *am* Christian!::Cherie Blair: No, you're Church of England.
[Discussing Blair's autobiography]::Publisher: You 'feel the hand of God on your shoulder' no less than 29 times!::Tony Blair: Oh yes...::[He laughs]::Tony Blair: ...it was a bit more than that, actually.

Genres:

Quotes:
[Barrie is reversing into a parking space between two Jaguars outside Downing Street]::Barrie Williams: I hope I don't hit your boss's car. Which one's his?::Tracey Temple: Both.
[after the Christmas party at which the affair between Tracey Temple and John Prescott began]::Tracey Temple: [voiceover] As far as Christmas parties go, the way I see it like this: if you don't regret *any* of it, then you clearly haven't had a good time!
[after making love with John Prescott for the first time]::Tracey Temple: [voiceover] Some people think that sleeping with the boss is a stupid idea, but I like to consider myself more open-minded than most. Sure, it has its risks. But it also has its rewards. The way I see it is like this: if you don't try something new every once in a while, how will you know whether you'll enjoy it?
[Julie Jones has just burst into John Prescott's office and caught Tracey Temple sitting on his lap; now the two women are discussing it in the smoking room]::Julie Jones: What did you think you were doing?::Tracey Temple: He flirts... and I reciprocate. That's all it was.::Julie Jones: Tracey, you were on his lap.::Tracey Temple: He was upset and I wanted to make him feel...::Julie Jones: ...Horny?::Tracey Temple: ...Better. You know what we're like - we're both very tactile people. There's nothing going on between us. I mean, it's Prescott - would you?::Julie Jones: [primly] Physically, I'd find it difficult. But if power and oafish charm were my aphrodisiac...
[John Prescott has invited Tony Blair and Gordon Brown to his flat for a dinner party]::John Prescott: What's the matter, Gordon?::Gordon Brown: Sorry. Would you mind. Could I get another chair.::John Prescott: What's wrong with it?::Gordon Brown: It's too low.::John Prescott: Right, try this one, Gordon.::John Prescott: Tony, are you too high or too low?::Tony Blair: Gordon's always looked down on me - I wouldn't want to change that!
[At John Prescott's dinner party, Gordon Brown has been relentlessly pressing Tony Blair all evening to name the date when he will resign as Prime Minister. They are now at Prescott's front door, about to go home]::Tony Blair: Gordon, why don't you take the first lift. I'll be five minutes.::Gordon Brown: How can I be sure you'll go when you say you will?::Tony Blair: You know something, Gordon, these jokes are just tiring after a while.

Simon Sinek (@simonsinek) created a simple model, The Golden Circle, that codifies what makes the most inspiring people and organizations so successful and influential. Beginning as a student in anthropology, Simon Sinek turned his fascination with people into a career of convincing people to do what inspires them. Through his struggle to rediscover his excitement about life and work, he made some profound realizations and began helping his friends and their friends to find their "why" — at first charging just $100, person by person. Never planning to write a book, he penned Start With Why simply as a way to distribute his message. With a bold goal to help build a world in which the vast majority of people go home everyday feeling fulfilled by their work, Sinek is leading a movement to inspire people to do the things that inspire them.
Now Simon takes the next step. After why comes : trust.

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMaastricht, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxMaastricht event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Please take a look at this video that explains what TEDx has become:

Angela Blanchard is recognized for her pioneering work in asset-based community development that focuses on the human, social and cultural strengths of vulnerable populations. Blanchard is the President and CEO of Houston-based Neighborhood Centers Inc., one of the top 1% of U.S.-based
charitable groups that serves 250,000 clients annually through 60 facilities in the Houston and Gulf Coast regions. Former HUD Assistant Secretary Roberta Achtenberg (who currently serves on the
U.S. Commission on Civil Rights) has praised Blanchard for her innovation in developing "a powerful transformational model" with important implications for community redevelopment efforts throughout the nation. Blanchard has been honored by a number of organizations for advocacy, her excellence in nonprofit leadership, and outstanding achievements in community service. Most recently, she was named the ARAMARK Building Community 2011 National Innovation Award Leadership Honoree.
Blanchard joined Neighborhood Centers in 1986 and was named president and CEO in 1998. She rapidly expanded the scale of the 104-year-old agency and grew its operating budget from $40 million to more than $258 million. Today, the agency is widely respected for achieving outstanding results in a number of public-service initiatives, including community schools and place-based education programs; immigration and citizenship outreach and advocacy; senior services; economic development; tax services; and disaster-recovery services coordinated in the wake of devastating hurricanes. In 2010, more than 300 organizations applied for Promise Neighborhood Grants from the U.S. Department of Education -- and Neighborhood Centers Inc. was selected as one of only 21 recipients nationwide.

Father Gregory Boyle, founder and executive director of Homeboy Industries, is an acknowledged expert on gangs, intervention and re-entry and today serves on the U.S. Attorney General's Defending Childhood Task Force.
Born in Los Angeles, one of eight children, Fr. Greg worked in the family-owned dairy, loading milk trucks to earn his high school tuition. An enduring memory of that youthful time is when "...these weathered old truckers would come up to me, put their arms around me and point at my father in the distance, on the loading dock, and say, 'Your dad is a great man.'" Lessons from that first job apply at Homeboy Industries today where
employees come to change for themselves and their children.
Homeboy Industries traces its roots to "Jobs For A Future" (JFF), created in 1988 by Boyle at Dolores Mission. To address the escalating problems of gang-involved youth, he and the community developed an elementary school, day care program and sought legitimate employment for young people.
Boyle serves on the National Gang Center Advisory Board (Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention). He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Loyola Law School Center for Juvenile Law and Policy and previously served on the California Commission on Juvenile Justice, Crime and Delinquency Prevention. The National Child Labor Committee recognized Fr. Greg with the first Nancy M. Daly Advocacy Award for Service to Children and Youth on January 30, 2012.
Homeboy Industries, now located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, is recognized as a national and international model for youth seeking to move beyond gangs and achieve a life of hope.

Dave deBronkart, better known as "e-Patient Dave" (@epatientdave), was diagnosed in January 2007 with kidney cancer at a very late stage. Odds were stacked against him, with tumors in both lungs, several bones, and muscle tissue. He received great treatment: extensive surgery and biologic therapy helped him win the battle over his cancer. His last treatment was July 23, 2007, and by September it was clear he'd beaten the disease. Dave is now actively engaged in opening health care information directly to patients on an unprecedented level, thus creating a new dynamic in how information is delivered, accessed and used by the patient.

Celeste Greene is the Director of Laughter Yoga Atlanta and a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher. She helps groups improve through an innovative laughter and deep breathing exercise called Laughter Yoga. This process enables groups to achieve the physical, psychological, and emotional health benefits of laughter without requiring special exercise clothing or equipment, a sense of humor, or even a reason to laugh.
Celeste has facilitated Laughter Yoga sessions with corporate teams, older adults, hospital care staff, cancer survivors, personal development groups, and kids. Celeste trains people wishing to share unconditional laughter with others in her Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training Programs. She is the founder of the Third Tuesdays Free Laughter Yoga Circle, a free monthly Laughter Yoga class designed to bring fun, health, and fellowship to the Atlanta community.
In her TEDxCPW Audience Experience, "Liberating Your Laughter," Celeste shows us how we can all tap into our innate and infinite ability to laugh unconditionally and with ease — even when life isn't going well, and nothing seems funny. "Liberating Your Laughter" was originally shared as part of the TEDx Centennial Park Women event on December 6, 2013 in Atlanta, GA.

Jan Gunnarsson is a hospitality industry veteran from Sweden who exhibits a refreshing take upon customer service and leadership. Jan believes customer experience is not in the first place about strategies and tactics but about the attitude we bring. Jan talks about how the heart of a business is an attitude of yourself. Hostmanship is the book he wrote with Olle Blohm. Hostmanship really is about giving. It's about sharing a part of yourself and your knowledge. Jan inspires us by the simple belief that we should never be forgetting that people who have contacted you are an extension of yourself. It is about understanding that, in that moment, you are an important part of her life. Not only because you have the answer to her question, but you are also the person she has chosen to turn to. Jan Gunnarsson will give us a completely new view upon care and upon service in healthcare.

Part 2 of 3: Gordon Brown in interviewed by Andrew Marr.
Oh no, the Conservatives plan an emergency budget to tackle the out of control public sector spending and government borrowing. Oh no, £6bn taken out of the non-wealth generating public sector to leave in the hands of the wealth generating private sector. Yes, that really will collapse the economy.... idiot!
The public sector generates NOTHING for the UK economy, how can taking £6bn out of their hands collapse the economy? To then compare the UK finances with running the wasteful BBC is beyond idiotic.
Brown then talks of the "Global Financial Constitution", what he really meant was arranging finance for the "New World Order" by stealing from the banks, who ultimately get the money from you and me.
Unemployment is going up, more people than ever are economically inactive. No matter how New Labour are rigging the unemployment list by putting people on other lists / benefits, the result is the same... Unemployment is going up (especially in 7th May with New Labour being consigned to history).
Gordon then continues his lies that he's increased funding for the military, buying more bullets is NOT increasing funding for the army equipment our soldiers need.
Recorded from Andrew Marr Show, 18 April 2010.

Gordon Brown has launched an all-out attack on News International accusing it of using "disgusting" methods to gain access to personal information.
The former prime minister also alleged the newspaper giant had links to the "criminal underworld".
And he accused The Sunday Times of gaining access to his personal bank and legal files when he was chancellor.
News International said it would investigate Mr Brown' s allegations and wanted to see all the information.
Mr Brown remained silent about alleged abuses of media power during his time in office - but he has been prompted to speak out by fresh claims in The Guardian that he had been targeted by News International newspapers.
In an interview with BBC News, the Labour MP said he was "in tears" when he was told by News International journalists that the Sun had details of his son Fraser's medical condition - he has cystic fibrosis - as he had wanted the information to be kept private.
"Sarah and I were incredibly upset about it, we were thinking about his long term future, we were thinking about our family," he said.
He said he did not know how the newspaper had got access to the details: "The fact is, it did appear and it did appear in the Sun newspaper."
News International said the Sun newspaper was satisfied about the methods in which it obtained the story about Mr Brown's son's medical condition.
In separate allegations, it is claimed personal details were obtained for a front-page Sunday Times report that Mr Brown had bought a flat owned by Robert Maxwell at a "knock-down price".
Mr Brown told the BBC the story had been "completely wrong" but the company had been "trying to prove a point" and had aimed to bring him down as chancellor.
He also alleged the newspaper had got access to his building society account and legal files: "I'm shocked, I'm genuinely shocked to find this happened because of the links with known criminals who were undertaking this activity, hired by investigators who were working with the Sunday Times."
He added: "If I, with all the protection and all the defences and all the security that a chancellor of the exchequer or a prime minister has, is so vulnerable to unscrupulous tactics, unlawful tactics, to methods that have been used in the way that we've found - what about the ordinary citizen?
"What about the person - like the family of Milly Dowler - who were in the most desperate of circumstances, at the most difficult occasions in their lives - in huge grief ... and then they find that they are totally defenceless in this moment of greatest grief from people who are employing these ruthless tactics?"
He said he had complained to the Sunday Times at the time, through his lawyers - but had not complained to the police because he had only recently "found out about the links between the Sunday Times and what I would call elements of the criminal underworld ... to do work which, if you like, is the most disgusting of work".
The Guardian newspaper has reported that a conman working for the Sunday Times was used to get access to Mr Brown's files from his London lawyers - the conman was later jailed for fraud in relation to a different matter.
Mr Brown said he had got his information from investigations done by journalists "and not myself".
He dismissed claims that he had done little to tackle alleged abuses of press power when he was in office, claiming that in his final months in office, he had wanted a judicial inquiry.
But he added: "At the time however there was very few people who accepted this was the right thing to do."
He also claimed that he had "stood up" to News International's commercial ambitions when he thought they were against the public interest.
A spokesman for News International said: "We note the allegations made concerning the reporting of matters relating to Gordon Brown. So that we can investigate these matters further, we ask that all information concerning these allegations is provided to us."
Thanks to the BBC.

More than 20 global leaders – including former presidents, prime ministers and Nobel Prize winners – will meet in London on 23 January to champion the world’s young people by bidding to reverse a dangerous decline in financing for education, particularly in conflict zones.
Following this meeting, the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, Rt Hon Gordon Brown; the chair of the Global Partnership for Education and former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard; and the head of the Overseas Development Institute, Kevin Watkins, will be in conversation at the Frontline Club. The discussion will be chaired by foreign correspondent David Loyn, and will focus on how the international community must fund 1 million school places for Syrian refugee children. The event takes place just 10 days ahead of a major United Nations-sponsored Syria relief funding conference, also being held in London.
The International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity is supported by the Government of Norway and Prime Minister Erna Solberg and co-convened by President Michelle Bachelet of Chile, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, President Peter Mutharika of Malawi and the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova. It will review the future of global education, which currently leaves 124 million young people out of school. The selection of this diverse group of individuals comes at a crucial time, when more children are out of school than a year ago and increased conflict has forced millions of children out of the classrooms – becoming refugees with no prospects of education. The Commission will explore how over the next 15 to 20 years, education could lead to greater economic growth, better health outcomes, and improved global security.

Tony Blair and Gordon Brown as giant puppets - PR puff for a fore- coming TV programme called the Deal which was on Channel 4 in 2003
The Deal is a 2003 British television film directed by Stephen Frears from a script by Peter Morgan, based in part upon The Rivals by James Naughtie.
The film stars David Morrissey as Gordon Brown and Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, and depicts the Blair-Brown deal—a well-documented pact that Blair and Brown made whereby Brown would not stand in the 1994 Labour leadership election, so that Blair could have a clear run at becoming leader of the party and Prime Minister.
The film begins on 9 June 1983, as Blair and Brown are first elected to Parliament, and concludes in May 1994 at the Granita restaurant—the location of the supposed agreement—with a brief epilogue following the leadership contest.
Filmed at the Labour party conference in Bournemouth in September 2003.

“The more a social engineer can make his contact seem like business as usual, the more he allays suspicion. When people don’t have a reason to be suspicious, it’s easy for a social engineer to gain their trust. Once he’s got your trust, the drawbridge is lowered and the castle door thrown open so he can enter and take whatever information he wants” (Kevin D Mitnick).

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has taken up a role on an advisory panel at a global investment management firm.
Pimco said it had formed a five-strong group of "world-renowned experts on economic and political issues".
The other members include former US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, and Jean-Claude Trichet, former president of the European Central Bank.
A spokesman for Mr Brown said he was taking on "a minor advisory role" and would not financially benefit.
The spokesman added: "Any money goes to the office of Gordon and Sarah Brown to support their charitable and public service work."
The advisory board will meet several times a year.
"The global advisory board is an unrivalled team of macroeconomic thinkers and former policymakers, whose insights into the intersection of policy and financial markets will be a valuable input to our investment process," Dan Ivascyn, Pimco's chief investment officer, said.
The other members are Ng Kok Song, former chief investment officer of the Government of Singapore Investment Corp sovereign wealth fund from 2007 to 2013, and Anne-Marie Slaughter, a former US Department of State policy director.
Pimco, which was bought by German asset manager Allianz in 2000, administers about $1.47 trillion of assets for its clients.
This hiring flurry follows last year's departures of co-chief investment officers Bill Gross and Mohamed El-Erian.

Gordon Brown has urged the government to abandon cuts to tax credits completely, warning that to press on would cause inequality to rise "faster than in any part of the Western world".
The ex-prime minister said the reforms were "fundamentally flawed" and ran "totally counter to British values".
And he defended the large increase in tax credits he presided over as chancellor, in his speech.
George Osborne is to announce revised proposals later this month.
The chancellor argues the bill for tax credits, an income supplement paid to millions of families - many of which are in work but on low incomes - ballooned by billions under the last Labour government and that it needs to be brought under control as part of £12bn overall cuts to welfare.
It is one of a series of measures the government has taken since Labour left office to, as David Cameron puts it, "sort out the mess" of the huge deficit left by Mr Brown's government.
'Undermining compassion'
But Mr Osborne is facing growing calls to change tack following a defeat in the House of Lords and amid concerns that plans to lower the threshold at which people can start to claim working tax credits, from £6,420 to £3,850 a year in April, will leave working families on average £1,300 worse off.
Mr Brown said the changes should be "abandoned in their entirety" if justice was to be done to the working poor and the "millions" of children in, or facing, poverty.
Tax credits are a series of benefits introduced by the last Labour government to help low-paid families. There are two types: Working Tax Credit (WTC) for those in work, and Child Tax Credit (CTC) for those with children.
Under the government's existing proposals, the income threshold for Working Tax Credits - £6,420 - would be cut to £3,850 a year from April.
In other words, as soon as someone earned £3,850, they would see their payments reduced. The income threshold for those only claiming CTCs would be cut from £16,105 to £12,125.
The rate at which those payments are cut would also get faster. Currently, for every £1 claimants earn above the threshold, they lose 41p. This is known as the taper rate. But from April, the taper rate would accelerate to 48p.
There would be similar reductions for those who claim work allowances under the new Universal Credit.
He said that if the plans went ahead the numbers of children in poverty would "rise faster than at any time in the last 50 years" and "peak in 2020 at a level that is higher than at any time during the recessions of the 70s, 80s and 90s".
"And even if these reforms are massaged or they are phased in, they are so fundamentally wrong, that they will lead to a divided and more polarised society in Britain, with inequality rising faster than in any part of the Western world," he warned.
He said the government's proposals ran "totally counter to British values", as they would reduce incentives to work and undermine personal responsibility and "compassion" for children.
He also warned the chancellor not to seek to cut Universal Credit to pay for tax credit adjustments, and said: "You cannot repair a damaged policy when it is so fundamentally flawed."
Mr Brown's speech, his first major intervention in domestic politics since the general election, came on the day Parliament's cross-party Work and Pensions Committee urged Mr Osborne to postpone reforms for a year to enable debate about the future of working-age benefits.
Former Conservative Sir John Major has also joined the debate on how to tackle entrenched poverty and disparities in life chances by warning that levels of income inequality in Britain are "shocking".
In a speech on Tuesday, Sir John warned that some UK communities were "among the poorest in all Northern Europe".
While poverty would not be ended "by benefits alone", ministers "must understand how hard it is to escape from such circumstances" and have an "equal concentration on those who are failed by the system" as those who cheat it.

James Gordon Brown THE LEVESON INQUIRY INTO THE CULTURE (born 20 February 1951) is a British Labour Party politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Labour Party from 2007 until 2010. He previously served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour Government from 1997 to 2007, becoming the longest-serving holder of that office in modern history. Brown has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1983, currently for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath.
Brown became Prime Minister on 27 June 2007, after the resignation of Tony Blair and three days after becoming Leader of the governing Labour Party. His tenure ended on 11 May 2010, when he resigned as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party. Brown was one of only three people to serve in the Cabinet continuously from Labour's victory in 1997 until its defeat in 2010, the others being Jack Straw and Alistair Darling.

James Gordon Brown (born 20 February 1951) is a British Labour Party politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Labour Party from 2007 until 2010. He previously served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour Government from 1997 to 2007, becoming the longest-serving holder of that office in modern history. Brown has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1983, for Dunfermline East until 2005, and currently for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath.
Brown has a PhD in history from the University of Edinburgh and spent his early career working as a lecturer at a further education college and a television journalist. He has been a Member of Parliament since 1983; first for Dunfermline East and since 2005 for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. As Prime Minister, he also held the offices of First Lord of the Treasury and the Minister for the Civil Service.
Brown's time as Chancellor was marked by major reform of Britain's monetary and fiscal policy architecture, transferring interest rate setting powers to the Bank of England, by a wide extension of the powers of the Treasury to cover much domestic policy and by transferring responsibility for banking supervision to the Financial Services Authority. Controversial moves included the abolition of advance corporation tax (ACT) relief in his first budget, and the removal in his final budget of the 10% "starting rate" of personal income tax which he had introduced in 1999.
After initial rises in opinion polls following Brown's selection as leader, Labour performed poorly in local and European election results in 2009. A year later, Labour lost 91 seats in the House of Commons at the 2010 general election, the party's biggest loss of seats in a single general election since 1931, giving the Conservative Party a plurality and resulting in a hung parliament. On 10 May 2010, Brown announced he would stand down as leader of the Labour Party, and instructed the party to put into motion the processes to elect a new leader. On 11 May 2010, Brown officially resigned as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party. He was succeeded as Prime Minister by David Cameron, and on 25 September 2010, he was succeeded as Leader of the Labour Party by Ed Miliband.
