The University of Manchester’s Agent for Intellectual Property Commercialisation

UMIP is a division of UMI3 and is wholly owned by The University of Manchester, founded to commercialise relevant University research results.

THE UMIP MISSION

UMIP contributes to the aims and objectives of The University’s “Exemplary Knowledge and Technology Transfer” agenda by providing Intellectual Property (IP) management and commercialisation activities:

  • Transferring science and technology to the market place through IP sale, licence or spin-out.
  • Making an important contribution to the economy regionally, nationally and internationally and to the quality of public life.
  • Reinvesting returns from successful IP commercialisation activities back to the University, for example, through income from the sale of spin-out company shares or royalty income from licence agreements.
