Messenger — a shortening of Mercury Surface, Space Environment, Geo-chemistry and Ranging — discovered that Mercury shrank slightly as it cooled over billions of years; mapped ancient lava flows; found enigmatic shallow depressions that are some of the youngest and brightest features on the surface; and confirmed the presence of ice in perpetually dark craters near the poles.

Five of Messenger’s Discoveries About Mercury
Five things NASA’s Messenger spacecraft, doomed to crash this week, has revealed about the closest planet to the sun.
The water ice, perhaps a billion tons, was not a complete surprise. Radio telescope observations from Earth had hinted at something reflective, and the shadowed craters are extremely cold. Beyond confirming the suspected, Messenger also made a new discovery: The ice was covered by an unexplained dark layer.
“We have a reasoned hypothesis,” Dr. Solomon said. The material could be carbon-rich compounds, similar to substances found in certain meteorites and in comets. “It’s tarlike in its consistency,” he said. “It’s as dark as tar.”
The biggest scientific finding of the mission, Dr. Solomon said, was that Mercury was rich in “volatiles,” elements like chlorine, sulfur, potassium and sodium that easily evaporate at moderate temperatures. Mercury is small and dense, full of iron, and the thinking about how it formed was that it must have been heated to temperatures that should have boiled off the volatiles. Yet the volatiles are still there.
Scientists now have to come up with new ideas to explain how Mercury formed.
When NASA launched Messenger in 2004, knowledge of Mercury was sparse. The only close-ups had come in three flybys by NASA’s Mariner 10 in the 1970s.
For more than six years, Messenger took a circuitous route through the inner solar system, making flybys of Earth, Venus and Mercury, to slow itself down enough to enter orbit around Mercury. On March 18, 2011, it finally arrived. The orbital portion of the mission was originally planned for one year, then was extended twice.
But now, the spacecraft has run out of fuel for the thrusters. Engineers came up with a clever trick to use pressurized helium, which pushes fuel to the thrusters, to provide three additional boosts that kept it in orbit a while longer.
A push on Friday lifted the minimum altitude to 11.3 miles from 5.1 miles, a bit less than engineers had hoped. One more maneuver is planned for Tuesday. But the helium is almost exhausted, and the low point of the orbit will decrease again. Messenger, still gathering data, is expected to hit at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday.

Dr. Solomon will be at the missions operations center, at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md. “Unfortunately, it’s going to be a little anticlimactic,” he said.
When it crashes, Messenger will be behind Mercury, out of view from Earth. Dr. Solomon and the rest of the team will not be certain of Messenger’s demise until hours later, when the craft does not emerge from behind Mercury.
“It will be a somber moment,” he said.
Even its destruction could provide insights by digging up what lies beneath the surface — but it will be some time before anyone will see what that is.
NASA does not have any follow-up Mercury missions set, but an ambitious European and Japanese collaboration called BepiColombo is scheduled to launch in 2017. It is to arrive at Mercury in 2024.
That mission consists of two orbiters, one focusing on the planet, the other on the surrounding space environment, in greater and finer detail than Messenger.
Johannes Benkhoff, the project scientist for BepiColombo at the European Space Agency, described Messenger as a “really a fantastic mission.”
“It’s perfect that we have BepiColombo to follow on” Messenger’s findings, Dr. Benkhoff said. “They have provided a lot of new results, unexpected results.”
BepiColombo is named after Giuseppe Colombo, an Italian scientist nicknamed Bepi who came up with the orbital trajectories that enabled NASA’s Mariner 10 flybys.
Dr. Solomon is also looking forward to the next trip to Mercury. “There are many things about Mercury I still want to learn more about,” he said.

English/Nat
The first of three spacecraft bound for Mars is scheduled to lift off Wednesday.
NASA's Mars Global Surveyor is the first of three missions to the Red Planet this fall.
The missions are designed to explore the planet in greater detail than ever before, and to put an end to two decades of failed missions to the Red Planet.
Its the beginning of a new era in Mars exploration.
NASA says Wednesday's launch of the Mars Global Surveyor is the next step in expanding scientists' knowledge of Mars.
The Surveyor is an orbiter carrying six instruments that will study the atmosphere, interior and surface of Earth's neighbour.
The last time a flight to Mars succeeded was twenty years ago.
Since then, two Russian probes were lost. And three years ago, the U-S Mars Observer either spun off course or blew up.
When asked if that makes NASA anxious, one NASA scientist said "No".
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"I'm looking forward, not backward. And I have got every confidence that we're going to do very well here. We have a launch vehicle with an extremely good track record, we got a spacecraft crew with an enormous amount of experience. They are dedicated, I have seen their dedication and enthusiasm - this just feels good. And so, I am very confident."
SUPER CAPTION: Dr Wesley Huntress, Junior, NASA Scientist
Although the Global Surveyor will launch tomorrow, it has a long journey before it reaches Mars.
In fact, the orbiter will not touch ground with Mars until next September the 11th.
It will then spend the next four months dipping lower and lower into Mars' atmosphere, and not until the Spring of 1998 will the Surveyor begin to gather data.
The Surveyor and the Pathfinder, which will launch shortly thereafter, are part of NASA's new decade-long program of robotic exploration, known as the Mars Surveyor program.
The spacecraft will not actually carry the instruments necessary to search for life on Mars.
Instead, it will search for new information on the planet's geology, atmosphere and climate.
Hopefully, with that information, scientists will learn more about the possibility of past life on Mars.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"It is the beginning of a long sequence of missions, ultimately whose goal must be to determinate whether or not life was ever on Mars or even perhaps exists now."
SUPER CAPTION: Dr. Wesley Huntress, Jr., NASA Scientist
The United States plans to send up Mars missions every twenty-six months over the next decade.
Within the next decade, NASA says it hopes to robotically return a Martian soil sample to Earth.
And if all goes well with the missions starting Wednesday, human exploration of the Red Planet could be possible in the future.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"But the first step is to first understand what it is that Mars has - where is the water and what are other resources that might exist on this planet, that might be used for a robotic exploration as well as for potential human aspiration at some time in the next century, should that make sense."
SUPER CAPTION: Dr Wesley Huntress, Jr., NASA Scientist
NASA scientists say the upcoming mission is one of enormous potential and risk.
And with less than twenty-four hours before the launch, scientists say they're ready.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"I know we are going to have a very successful launch tomorrow and we look forward to a fabulous mission - tomorrow, one in which we'll rewrite the text books about Mars."
SUPER CAPTION: Glenn Cunningham, Mission Director, NASA
The Mars Global Surveyor will study the atmosphere and features of Mars throughout all of its seasons.

wn.com/USA Nasa First Of 3 Spacecraft Bound For Mars To Be Launched

Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft has started the most intense duration of its encounter with Pluto.
The probe is set to hurtle past the dwarf world on Tuesday, getting hold of a mass of photos and other science data.
Controllers got a last health condition report, before the robotic craft turned its antenna far from the Earth to focus on its target.
Only when New Horizons has its trove of images securely in its onboard memory will certainly it call home once again.
This is not anticipated to occur until just after midnight (GMT) into Wednesday.
It means there will certainly be a long, anxious wait for everyone gotten in touch with the objective, as they claim a signal that will certainly be coming from practically 5 billion km away.
New Horizons' flyby of 2,370km-wide Pluto is a key moment in the history of area exploration.
Its effective execution will certainly finish the preliminary reconnaissance of the "classical" 9 planets in our Solar System.
It will certainly mark that every body in that system - from Mercury through to Pluto - will certainly have been seen at least when by a space probe.
New Horizons has been returning a stable stream of details on technique to the dwarf word in recent days, however this will certainly be as nothing compared to the big number of observations it prepares to acquire when passing just 12,500 km from the surface.
This is timed to occur at 11:50 GMT (12:50 BST).
The probe will certainly investigate not just Pluto however likewise its 5 moons: Charon, Styx, Nix, Kerberos and Hydra.
To accomplish that, it needs to carry out a furious set of manoeuvres as it points every which way in the sky to obtain the images and other types of data it needs.
"I can't wait to obtain into the data and actually start making sense of it. Right now, we're just standing under the waterfall and enjoying it," New Horizons' principal investigator, Alan Stern, told BBC News.

Lecture Title: Entry, Descent and Landing Technology Investments Designed to Enable a New Era of Mars Exploration
Special Lecture Series: AE585 Seminar
In the past twenty years, significant advances have been made in our ability to land scientific payloads on the Mars surface. These advances have come largely from continued evolution and refinement of Viking-era spaceflight technology. Over the past five years, a suite of new EDL technologies has been matured and is rapidly approaching readiness for mission infusion. This presentation will provide an overview of present EDL capabilities and discuss the basis for the present set of EDL technology investments. Looking forward, the benefit of these technology investments will be characterized in terms of the potential future missions that may soon be possible. While Mars exploration will be the focus of this talk, the application of some of these same technologies to science missions to other planetary bodies and a variety of Earth-based applications will also be discussed.
Dr. Robert D. Braun leads an active research program focused on the design of advanced flight systems and technologies for planetary exploration and has contributed to numerous spaceflight projects. He has also served as a senior leader for several engineering and technology organizations at NASA, including service as the NASA Chief Technologist in 2010-2011. From 1989 to 2003, he was a member of the technical staff of the NASA Langley Research Center. Dr. Braun received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State in 1987, M.S. in Astronautics from the George Washington University in 1989, and Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University in 1996. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, Editor-in-Chief of the AIAA Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, Vice Chair of the NRC Space Studies Board, and the author or co-author of over 275 technical publications in the fields of atmospheric flight dynamics, planetary exploration, design optimization, and systems engineering. From January through June 2015, he served as a Moore Distinguished Scholar at Caltech.

CAPTION: The astronauts on NASA's next-to-last shuttle flight floated out of the International Space Station on Sunday and then closed the hatch behind them, after one final round of warm wishes and embraces. (May 29)
Mark Kelly
Endeavour Shuttle Commander
"We had a very successful mission working with expedition 28. It's been a great number of days docked getting the alpha-magnetic spectrometer installed which is really a remarkable thing for physics, for science. And that sensor is already collecting massive amounts of data and we're looking forward to hearing what those discoveries are. We got a Yield C-3 installed. We did 4 very successful space walks and a bunch of transfers. And it was a really good 10 days or so that we were docked here. And we're looking forward to getting home and we're going to leave these guys to some peace and quiet and not disturb their space station anymore. And on this Memorial Day weekend, we'd also like to say that as a crew we're thinking of the veterans out there that have lost their lives in wars, especially recently in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's really important for the American people to honor those folks over the weekend, but particularly tomorrow on Monday."
STORYLINE:
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (AP) _ The astronauts on NASA's next-to-last shuttle flight floated out of the International Space Station on Sunday and then closed the hatch behind them, after one final round of warm wishes and embraces.
All that remained was space shuttle Endeavour's undocking late Sunday night and its two-day trip home.
Shuttle commander Mark Kelly said the 1¼ weeks of joint flight went well. He was the last to leave the space station, lingering for a few seconds with the three space station residents.
"We're looking forward to getting home," Kelly said, "and we're going to leave these guys to some peace and quiet and not disturb their space station any more."
"It was really great seeing you guys," said station resident Ronald Garan Jr. "We were just in awe of your finely oiled machine."
The station's skipper, Russian Andrey Borisenko, wished the six shuttle astronauts a "soft landing."
Endeavour will return to Florida in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, never to fly in space again. The shuttle will be retired to a museum in California following the 16-day mission, its 25th.
On its final journey, Endeavour delivered a $2 billion cosmic ray detector that will remain on the space station for the next decade.
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer already is collecting 25 million to 40 million cosmic particles a day worthy of analysis. It's searching for antimatter and dark matter, and scientists hope the findings will shed light on the origin of the universe.
Kelly and his crew also provided the space station with a platform full of spare parts and an extension boom for future repair work. The boom, installed Friday on the fourth spacewalk of the mission, marked the completion of the U.S. portion of the space station.
The astronauts also worked on some of the critical life-support systems inside, in an effort to leave the orbiting outpost in the best possible shape for the shuttle-less years ahead.
Astronauts Mike Fincke and Gregory Chamitoff _ who spent months living on the space station in years past _ pretended they didn't want to leave Sunday morning. They were dragged into the shuttle by their crewmates. Garan joined in on the joke, waving goodbye as if he were heading out aboard Endeavour as well. He's just two months into his five-month station stay.
All told, the hatches between the two spacecraft were open 11 days.
Only one more shuttle flight remains for NASA.

The space shuttle "Atlantis" is on its own again.
It parted company Sunday night from the Russian space station "Mir" in a smooth undocking.
U-S astronaut Jerry Lineger remains in orbit on board Mir, while John Blaha, who's been aboard the past four months, will be coming home on Atlantis.
After five days of joined flight it was time to say goodbye.
UPSOUND
Shuttle Atlantis undocked slowly and gently from Mir Sunday night, as the spacecraft soared more than 240 miles (384 kilometres) above Russia.
U-S astronaut Jerry Lineger, who earlier swapped places with John Blaha, remains in orbit on board Mir.
Lineger, a 42-year-old doctor, will spend the next four-and-a-half months conducting station experiments.
NASA's returning John Blaha, who arrived at the orbiting outpost in September, is looking forward to come home.
Although Blaha said he'll miss the views of Earth from space.

The Atlantis is scheduled to land Wednesday, but NASA may extend the mission an extra day to complete tests on exercise equipment for the new international space station.

wn.com/Space Space Shuttle Atlantis Has Smooth Undocking From Mir
English/Nat

Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) is a planned space exploration mission to send a space probe to orbit Mars and study its atmosphere. It will help determine what caused the Martian atmosphere —and water— to be lost to space, making the climate increasingly inhospitable for life.
Program overview
The mission was spawned by NASA's Mars Scout Program, which although discontinued in 2010, yielded Phoenix and MAVEN, as well as numerous missions studies. Mars Scout missions target a cost less than USD$485 million, not including launch service, which is approximately $187 million.
On September 15, 2008 NASA announced that it had selected MAVEN to be the Mars Scout 2013 mission, a part of the Mars Scout Program. There was one other finalist and eight other proposals that were competing against MAVEN to be the Mars Scout 2013 mission.
NASA will launch MAVEN in late 2013 using an Atlas V 401 rocket. The launch window is between November 18, 2013 and December 7, 2013. Assuming a November 18 launch, MAVEN will be inserted on September 22, 2014 into an elliptic orbit 6,200 km (3,900 mi) by 150 km (93 mi) above the planet's surface. The principal investigator for MAVEN is Bruce Jakosky of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Objectives
Features on Mars resembling dry riverbeds, and the discovery of minerals that form in the presence of water, indicate that Mars once had a thicker atmosphere and was warm enough for liquid water to flow on the surface. However, that thick atmosphere was somehow lost to space. Scientists suspect that, over millions of years, Mars lost 99% of its atmosphere as the planet's core cooled and its magnetic field decayed, allowing solar winds to sweep away most of the water and volatile compounds the atmosphere once contained.
The goal of MAVEN is to determine the history of the loss of atmospheric gases to space through time, providing answers about Mars climate evolution. By measuring the current rate of escape to space and gathering enough information about the relevant processes, scientists will be able to infer how the planet's atmosphere evolved in time.

Mission Overview: Why Go to Pluto ? Planetary exploration is a historic endeavor and a major focus of NASA. New Horizons is designed to help us understand worlds at the edge of our solar system by making the first reconnaissance of Pluto and Charon - a "double planet" and the last planet in our solar system to be visited by spacecraft. Then, as part of an extended mission, New Horizons would visit one or more objects in the Kuiper Belt region beyond Neptune.
Science at the Frontier
Our solar system contains three zones: the inner, rocky planets; the gas giant planets; and the Kuiper Belt. Pluto is one of the largest bodies of the icy, "third zone" of our solar system. The National Academy of Sciences placed the exploration of the third zone in general - and Pluto-Charon in particular - among its highest priority planetary mission rankings for this decade. New Horizons is NASA's mission to fulfill this objective.
In those zones, our solar system has three classes of planets: the rocky worlds (Earth, Venus, Mercury and Mars); the gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune); and the ice dwarfs of the Kuiper Belt. There are far more ice dwarf planets than rocky and gas giant worlds combined - yet, no spacecraft has been sent to a planet in this class. The National Academy of Sciences noted that our knowledge of planetary types is therefore seriously incomplete. As the first mission to investigate this new class of planetary bodies, New Horizons will fill this important gap and round out our knowledge of the planets in our solar system.
Ancient Relics
The ice dwarfs are planetary embryos, whose growth stopped at sizes (200 to 2,000 kilometers across) much smaller than the full-grown planets in the inner solar system and the gas giants region. The ice dwarfs are ancient relics that formed over 4 billion years ago. Because they are literally the bodies out of which the larger planets accumulated, the ice dwarfs have a great deal to teach us about planetary formation. New Horizons seeks those answers.
Binary Planet
Pluto's largest moon, Charon, is half the size of Pluto. The pair form a binary planet, whose gravitational balance point is between the two bodies. Although binary planets are thought to be common in the galaxy, as are binary stars, no spacecraft has yet explored one. New Horizons will be the first mission to a binary object of any type.
A Mission with Impact
The Kuiper Belt is the major source of cometary impactors on Earth, like the impactor that wiped out the dinosaurs. New Horizons will shed new light on the number of such Kuiper Belt impactors as a function of their size by cataloging the various-sized craters on Pluto, its moons, and on Kuiper Belt Objects.
Pluto and the Kuiper Belt are known to be heavily endowed with organic (carbon-bearing) molecules and water ice — the raw materials out of which life evolves. New Horizons will explore the composition of this material on the surfaces of Pluto, its moons and Kuiper Belt Objects.
The Great Escape
Pluto's atmosphere is escaping to space like a comet, but on a planetary scale. Nothing like this exists anywhere else in the solar system. It is thought that the Earth's original hydrogen/helium atmosphere was lost to space this way. By studying Pluto's atmospheric escape, we can learn a great deal about the evolution of Earth's atmosphere. New Horizons will determine Pluto's atmospheric structure and composition and directly measure its escape rate for the first time.
The Need to Explore
As the first voyage to a whole new class of planets in the farthest zone of the solar system, New Horizons is a historic mission of exploration. The United States has made history by being the first nation to reach every planet from Mercury to Neptune with a space probe. The New Horizons mission to Pluto and the Kuiper Belt - the first NASA launch to a "new" planet since Voyager more than 30 years ago - allows the U.S. to complete the reconnaissance of the solar system.

Hidden Portals in Earth's Magnetic Field
07.02.12
A NASA-sponsored researcher at the University of Iowa has developed a way for spacecraft to hunt down hidden magnetic portals in the vicinity of Earth. These gateways link the magnetic field of our planet to that of the sun, setting the stage for stormy space weather. The Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission will study these portals. Credit: Science@NASA
A favorite theme of science fiction is "the portal"--an extraordinary opening in space or time that connects travelers to distant realms. A good portal is a shortcut, a guide, a door into the unknown. If only they actually existed....
It turns out that they do, sort of, and a NASA-funded researcher at the University of Iowa has figured out how to find them.
"We call them X-points or electron diffusion regions," explains plasma physicist Jack Scudder of the University of Iowa. "They're places where the magnetic field of Earth connects to the magnetic field of the Sun, creating an uninterrupted path leading from our own planet to the sun's atmosphere 93 million miles away."
Observations by NASA's THEMIS spacecraft and Europe's Cluster probes suggest that these magnetic portals open and close dozens of times each day. They're typically located a few tens of thousands of kilometers from Earth where the geomagnetic field meets the onrushing solar wind. Most portals are small and short-lived; others are yawning, vast, and sustained. Tons of energetic particles can flow through the openings, heating Earth's upper atmosphere, sparking geomagnetic storms, and igniting bright polar auroras.
NASA is planning a mission called "MMS," short for Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission, due to launch in 2014, to study the phenomenon. Bristling with energetic particle detectors and magnetic sensors, the four spacecraft of MMS will spread out in Earth's magnetosphere and surround the portals to observe how they work.
Just one problem: Finding them. Magnetic portals are invisible, unstable, and elusive. They open and close without warning "and there are no signposts to guide us in," notes Scudder.
Actually, there are signposts, and Scudder has found them.
Portals form via the process of magnetic reconnection. Mingling lines of magnetic force from the sun and Earth criss-cross and join to create the openings. "X-points" are where the criss-cross takes place. The sudden joining of magnetic fields can propel jets of charged particles from the X-point, creating an "electron diffusion region."
To learn how to pinpoint these events, Scudder looked at data from a space probe that orbited Earth more than 10 years ago.
"In the late 1990s, NASA's Polar spacecraft spent years in Earth's magnetosphere," explains Scudder, "and it encountered many X-points during its mission."
Data from NASA's Polar spacecraft, circa 1998, provided crucial clues to finding magnetic X-points.Credit: NASA Because Polar carried sensors similar to those of MMS, Scudder decided to see how an X-point looked to Polar. "Using Polar data, we have found five simple combinations of magnetic field and energetic particle measurements that tell us when we've come across an X-point or an electron diffusion region. A single spacecraft, properly instrumented, can make these measurements."
This means that single member of the MMS constellation using the diagnostics can find a portal and alert other members of the constellation. Mission planners long thought that MMS might have to spend a year or so learning to find portals before it could study them. Scudder's work short cuts the process, allowing MMS to get to work without delay.
It's a shortcut worthy of the best portals of fiction, only this time the portals are real. And with the new "signposts" we know how to find them.

ATLANTA — A NASA-funded study written by aerospace engineering company SpaceWorks says that keeping astronauts unconscious during long flights in space cuts down on the equipment and resources needed on the shuttle, and also eliminates the negative psychological effects of long hauls in space.
According to SpaceWorks’ study on cryogenic sleep, which borrowed ideas from doctors, a human body can be forced into a state of hibernation by simply lowering the body temperature to 93 degrees Fahrenheit. The lowered body temperature causes the body’s heart rate and metabolism to decrease, effectively placing it in a state of unconsciousness.
The body will subsist on intravenous feeding tubes that pump the necessary lipids, amino acids and various nutrients into the body. Other tubes will drain urine as well as monitor the body.
According to mockups, a torpor-statis habitat can hold six astronauts at once and robotic arms will ensure everyone’s basic needs are met. In their study, SpaceWorks says that they imagine the crew would wake up in a staggered pattern so that at least one person is awake at all times.
So far humans are only able to maintain stasis for two weeks, although the trip from Earth to Mars is expected to take up to nine months.
NASA has declined to fund the second stage of the research though and SpaceWorks, citing its potential therapeutic benefits, is now looking into using the technology here on Earth.

The sun emitted a significant solar flare, peaking at 6:11 pm EDT on May 5, 2015. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, which watches the sun constantly, captured an image of the event. Solar flares are powerful bursts of radiation. Harmful radiation from a flare cannot pass through Earth's atmosphere to physically affect humans on the ground, however -- when intense enough -- they can disturb the atmosphere in the layer where GPS and communications signals travel.
This flare is classified as an X2.7-class flare. X-class denotes the most intense flares, while the number provides more information about its strength. An X2 is twice as intense as an X1, an X3 is three times as intense, etc.

~ Anunnaki Realm of the Maya ~
Come join myself James Swagger and Gerald Clark @ thee most unique symposium of the year. Our aim is to unveil humanity's true cultural blueprint alongside hidden knowledge, in one of the most beautiful settings on the planet, the Yucatan, Mexico. Both myself and Gerald come from somewhat similar yet very diverse engineering backgrounds, we shall reveal our insight, knowledge and perception of ancient cultures, particularly the Sumerian and Megalithic culture. Gerald will focus on the Anunnaki links to the Maya world, and yours truly, James Swagger shall tie in the global culture of megalithic monuments, astronomy and acoustics pertaining to these structures. The finale of this symposium will be a group meditation and Equinox event of the serpent shadow on the Kukulkan pyramd, Chichen Itza Complex, Yucatan, Mexico.

A prolific researcher, field investigator and down to earth engineer, James Swagger has dedicated the last 15 years of his life to researching megalithic sites and ancient cultures. James approach is simple use science and engineering to peer into the past, his passionate aim is to unveil humanity's true cultural blueprint. James has been to over 400 megalithic tombs dotted across Europe, in addition to stone circles and henges in search of commonalities and design. James utilizes his engineering background as a systems analyst as a utility to reduce the complexity of ancient megalithic sites.
James lifestyle is passionately filled with the exploration of history, when not writing, reading or researching; he pursues travel to the variety of ancient sites across Europe. His current areas of research are Archaeoacoustics and Archaeoastronomy, and in his spare time astrology. His most captivating place so far has been Machu Picchu, and the Cusco Valley.
James is an intellectual who loves to philosophize about our origins, explore anomalies and mysteries of all kinds. He enjoys talking about where we are now as a species and what the future holds for us. He firmly believes humanity cannot know where it is going unless it knows its true origins, the story of which has yet to unfold.

Equinox Ascension Symposium - Sept 18 - 23 / 2015
Not to be missed !
Hotel is not included, the choice is yours although Gerald and I shall be staying @

Where we hope you shall join us.
This hotel has access tothe archaeological complex !!!!
* Old Chichen Complex or Chichen Viejo is only opened to archaeologists and is located adjacent toHacienda Chichen private Mayan Jungle Reserve in the south region of Chichen Itza. Many of Old Chichen temples feature the Maya Puuc architectural design. The past ten years, Dr. Merle Greenehas dedicated many summers to work recording many of the Mayan stone-carvings in these Mayan temples; a lovely collection of her original "rubbings" can be seen by Hacienda Chichen guests at the hotel's Merle Greene's Museum.
Gerald and I are making ourselves available for guided tours at the monuments for 2 days also, this is not compulsory, though we are looking forward to networking and sharing our philosophy and vice versa with our guests. Our aim above all is networking with like minded souls.
