Fruit wines are fermented alcoholic beverages made from a variety of base ingredients (other than grapes); they may also have additional flavors taken from fruits, flowers, and herbs. This definition is sometimes broadened to include any fermented alcoholic beverage except beer. For historical reasons, mead, cider, and perry are also excluded from the definition of fruit wine.
Fruit wines have traditionally been popular with home winemakers and in areas with cool climates such as North America and Scandinavia; in Africa, India, and the Philippines, wine is made from bananas.
Fruit wines are usually referred to by their main ingredient (e.g., plum wine or elderberry wine) because the usual definition of wine states that it is made from fermented grape juice.
In the European Union, wine is legally defined as the fermented juice of grapes.
In the United Kingdom, fruit wine is commonly called country wine; the term should not be conflated with the French term vin de pays, which is grape wine. In British legislation, the term made-wine is used.
A plum is a fruit of the subgenus Prunus of the genus Prunus. The subgenus is distinguished from other subgenera (peaches, cherries, bird cherries, etc.) in the shoots having a terminal bud and solitary side buds (not clustered), the flowers in groups of one to five together on short stems, and the fruit having a groove running down one side and a smooth stone (or pit).
Mature plum fruit may have a dusty-white coating that gives them a glaucous appearance. This is an epicuticular wax coating and is known as "wax bloom". Dried plum fruits are called dried plums or prunes, although prunes are a distinct type of plum, and may have antedated the fruits now commonly known as plums.
Plums are a diverse group of species. The commercially important plum trees are medium-sized, usually pruned to 5–6 metres height. The tree is of medium hardiness. Without pruning, the trees can reach 12 metres in height and spread across 10 metres. They blossom in different months in different parts of the world; for example, in about January in Taiwan and early April in the United Kingdom.
Wine (from Latin vinum) is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grapes or other fruits. Due to a natural chemical balance, grapes ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water, or other nutrients.Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol and carbon dioxide. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts produce different styles of wine. These variations result from the complex interactions between the biochemical development of the grape, the reactions involved in fermentation, the terroir (the special characteristics imparted by geography, geology, climate and plant genetics) and subsequent appellation (the legally defined and protected geographical indication used to identify where the grapes for a wine were grown), along with human intervention in the overall process.
Wine has been produced for thousands of years. The earliest evidence of wine to date was found in the country of Georgia, where 8000-year old wine jars were uncovered. Traces of wine have also been found in Iran with 7,000-year-old wine jars and in Armenia with the 6100-year old Areni-1 winery, which is considered to be the earliest known winery by far. The earliest form of grape-based fermented drink however, was found in northern China, where archaeologists discovered 9000-year old pottery jars. Wine had reached the Balkans by c. 4500 BC and was consumed and celebrated in ancient Greece, Thrace and Rome. Throughout history, wine has been consumed for its intoxicating effects, which are evident at normal serving sizes.

If you've ever wanted to make wine but thought it was too complicated, then you need to watch THIS ! I'm going to show you how I made a batch of easy homemade wine... And... When I say easy... I mean EASY. I even give you a look at the fermentation process a few days later... man... it's percolating ! There is no need for a hydrometer, carboy, fermenting chamber or air lock. Heck, I didn't even need to buy yeast! The fruit has it's own yeast in it naturally, and I'm just using it's natural yeast to ferment. The ingredients are just simply fruit, sugar and water. In this case, I'm making homemade Blackberry Wine, but I could have used this method to make apple, grape, pear, peach, strawberry, muscadine... probably just about any kind of fruit wine. http://www.deeplivingproject.com.au Justin Calverley from Sensory Gardens shows his technique for winter pruning of plum trees. This technique keeps the trees at a manageable height, opens up the fruit tree for maximum sun exposure and good air flow to reduce diseases and lots and lots of fruit for the coming summer harvest! This technique can be applied to all spur bearing fruit trees (fruit trees that produce fruit over many years on small little shoots off of two year old and older wood) Things to look out for in this video are setting up the framework of your fruit trees, pruning back lateral branches that could produce fruit to avoid overbearing trees that could cause damage and the Three D's of winter pruning. http://sensorygardens.com.au Stay in the loop: https://www.facebook.com/d...

Ricco was a junky, mean when junks effected,
he had a secret yearning for the women he protected.
But he had also just to pay, a treasure every week
to Johnny who supplied hot-stuff, needed for been sick.
Oh, what a horrible sight, what a horrible sight.
Oh, what a sinful delight, what a sinful delight.
Now, Johnny was a dealer, with some red-faded boots
he brayed to the bums around him "Get this dummy pooch"
He saw his leather-feathered hat thrown away by a shot,
he said "Hey Johnny cool it down, it only just a rot"
Oh, what a horrible sight, what a horrible sight.
Oh, what a sinful delight, what a sinful delight.
Now, Ricco's on the Heaven, he no more needs no stuff
he's breathing now hot fresh air, he's no more tricks or bluff.
He keeps an eye on Johnny's way, surrounded by his gals,
He feels no hate, he feels no joy, he even has no pals.
Oh, what a beautiful sight, what a beautiful sight.
