After the short delay in delivery of the first new Boeing 747-8 Freighter, to Cargolux, the Luxembourg-based freight carrier put the 747-8F straight into service.
Here you can watch the largest Boeing aircraft as it is put straight to work by Cargolux. The 747-8 Freighter is a world leader in air cargo capacity and Cargolux make sure they maximise its capacity with the first revenue flight of this new jumbo jet. Have a look at this Antonov An-124 of Maximus Air Cargo. It` s a very rare visitor in the european area cause Maximus is mainly operating in the Middle East. This one operated a military charter for the NATO. Originally it was planned to arrive at Geilenkirchen (GER) but there were construction works and there would have been no way for the An-124 to vacate the runway. Thereafter it was planned for Maastricht (NL) but it was rejected by the airport authorities. In the end it arrived at Liege in the middle of the night and departed when I was present.

Cargo airlines (or airfreight carriers, and derivatives of these names) are airlines dedicated to the transport of cargo. Some cargo airlines are divisions or subsidiaries of larger passenger airlines.
Air transport is a vital component of many international logistics networks, essential to managing and controlling the flow of goods, energy, information and other resources like products, services, and people, from the source of production to the marketplace. It is difficult or nearly impossible to accomplish any international trading, global export/import processes, international repositioning of raw materials/products and manufacturing without a professional logistical support. It involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, and packaging. The operating responsibility of logistics is the geographical repositioning of raw materials, work in process, and finished inventories where required at the lowest cost possible.
Larger cargo airlines tend to use new or recently built aircraft to carry their freight, but many use older aircraft, like the Boeing 707, Boeing 727, Douglas DC-8, DC-10, MD-11, Boeing 747, and the Ilyushin Il-76. Examples of the 60-year-old Douglas DC-3 are still flying around the world carrying cargo (as well as passengers). Short range turboprop airliners such as the An-12, An-26, Fokker Friendship, and British Aerospace ATP are now being modified to accept standard air freight pallets to extend their working lives. This normally involves the replacement of glazed windows with opaque panels, the strengthening of the cabin floor and insertion of a broad top-hinged door in one side of the fuselage.

This one operated a military charter for the NATO. Korean Air Cargo flight 6316 (McDonnell Douglas MD-11) from Shanghai to Seoul took off despite the Korean co-pilots repeated misunderstanding and miscommunication with the tower and the pilot. The aircraft climbed to 4,500 feet and the captain, after receiving two wrong affirmative answers from the first officer that the required altitude should be 1,500 feet, thought that the aircraft was 3,000 feet too high. The captain then pushed the control column abruptly forward causing the aircraft to start a rapid descent. Neither was able to recover from the dive. The airplane plummeted into an industrial development zone 10 kilometers (6 miles) southwest of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The Galaxy has many similarities to its smaller C-141 Starlifter predecessor, and the later C-17 Globemaster. The C-5 is among the largest military aircraft in the world.
The C-5 Galaxy had a complicated development; significant cost overruns were experienced and Lockheed suffered significant financial difficulties. Shortly after entering service, fractures in the wings of many aircraft were discovered and the C-5 fleet were restricted in capability until corrective work was conducted. The C-5M Super Galaxy is an upgraded version with new engines and modernized avionics designed to extend its service life beyond 2040.
The C-5 Galaxy has been operated by USAF since 1969. In that time, it has been used to support US military operations in all major conflicts including Vietnam, Iraq, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan; as well as in support of allies, such as Israel during the Yom Kippur War and NATO operations in the Gulf War. National Airlines Flight 102 (NCR102), MSN 25630 - N949CA, was a cargo flight which crashed shortly after taking off from Bagram Airfield on 29 April 2013, killing all 7 crew.
The airline has been operating the Bagram to Dubai route for a month. The aircraft had taken off on runway 03 at 15:30L and climbing through 1200 feet, when the nose of the aircraft nose sharply rose. The crew were heard on VHF air-band frequency reporting that some of the load of five heavy military vehicles in the cargo hold had shifted and the aircraft stalled. The aircraft crashed and erupted into flames on impact. The crash site was near the end of runway 03 within the perimeter of the airfield. All seven crew; four pilots, two mechanics and a load master were killed.
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 747-428BCF registration N949CA, c/n 25630 It was manufactured and first flown in 1993. The aircraft that crashed was branded as National Airlines although it was actually operated upon the operating license of Air Atlanta Icelandic for National Air Cargo until 2011. Upon this particular sortie, Flight 102 was flying on behalf of the Air Mobility Command.

Every year, around September, an event is held south of Calgary, known as the Spruce Meadows Masters, a horse jumping show with professionals from all over the world. As a result, YYC spotters are treated to this gorgeous 747 carrying a number of these horses from Europe. This video includes ATC with captions, the landing, close up taxi, and some views of the aircraft parked. In the past two years, the flight has arrived with some beautiful sunny weather, but that wasn't the case for 2015. I was absolutely soaked by the end of this trip, so I hope you enjoy ;)

NOTE: While I am an avid planespotter myself and love photographing and video-recording airplanes, I hope this video goes to show how hard us ground crews work to keep these aircraft flying. If I may add, it was -7°F ( approx. -21°C ) on this particular day with a windchill of -16°F ( approx -26°C ). While I was properly equipped with the appropriate clothing, facemasks, goggles, gloves, and boots, after a while the body begins to sweat and that sweat begins to freeze onto your skin. It's also not very easy to be doing a dangerous job in the extreme cold with new guys who are not used to the elements consistently complaining about it. You can't just tell them to go home, you need the help to maintain the plane on schedule and turn it around on time. I hope you all understand how fun, but how stressful, this awesome job can be.
As many of you know, I'm an employee at Chicago's O'Hare International / Int'l Airport ( ICAO = KORD / IATA = ORD ). I bought a GoPro HD Hero 3 White Edition camera on sale during my lu nch break on "Black Friday," the crazy sales event after Thanksgiving Day, and decided to wear it during my job offloading and loading cargo planes at the Southeast Air Cargo Ramp at O'Hare.
Here, the video starts with me marshaling in Singapore Airlines Cargo aircraft 9V-SFM, a Boeing 747-412/SCD ( cn 32898 / 1333 ) arriving as Singapore Airlines Cargo 7969 Heavy ( SIA7969 / SQC7969 / Singapore Airlines Cargo Flight 7969 / Singapore International Airlines Flight 7969 ) from Dallas - Fort Worth / Ft. Worth International / Int'l Airport ( KDFW / DFW ) in Texas by way of Hong Kong - Chep Lap Kok International / Int'l Airport in Southeast Asia with a fuel stop at Anchorage - Ted Stevens International / Int'l Airport ( PANC / ANC ). I was standing atop a JBT AeroTech Commander 30 aircraft cargo loader, or as some people call it, an elevator or bridge.
I stopped recording after offloading the rear belly of the aircraft because the front belly door wouldn't open. It was frozen shut from the extreme cold the aircraft had experienced during the flight from DFW to ORD! You can see me trying to get it open, but I gave up after several attempts because I could damage the locking mechanism and that would be very bad and potentially catastrophic to the structural integrity and pressurized interior of the aircraft during flight.

NOTE: While I am an avid planespotter myself and love photographing and video-recording airplanes, I hope this video goes to show how hard us ground crews work to keep these aircraft flying. If I may add, it was -7°F ( approx. -21°C ) on this particular day with a windchill of -16°F ( approx -26°C ). While I was properly equipped with the appropriate clothing, facemasks, goggles, gloves, and boots, after a while the body begins to sweat and that sweat begins to freeze onto your skin. It's also not very easy to be doing a dangerous job in the extreme cold with new guys who are not used to the elements consistently complaining about it. You can't just tell them to go home, you need the help to maintain the plane on schedule and turn it around on time. I hope you all understand how fun, but how stressful, this awesome job can be.
As many of you know, I'm an employee at Chicago's O'Hare International / Int'l Airport ( ICAO = KORD / IATA = ORD ). I bought a GoPro HD Hero 3 White Edition camera on sale during my lu nch break on "Black Friday," the crazy sales event after Thanksgiving Day, and decided to wear it during my job offloading and loading cargo planes at the Southeast Air Cargo Ramp at O'Hare.

The PMDG MD11 was the last PMDG product released with an FS9 version, The real world only saw 200 of this venerable 3 engined airliner, with the last passenger MD11 retiring from service at KLM in December 2014. All insets, including charts and facecam, have been edited into the video using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 11.0
During the flight, weight loadings, weather briefings and airway SID STAR approach and ground charts were read off a second computer/monitor.
