The Battle of Kirina, also known as the Battle of Krina (c. 1235), was a confrontation between the Sosso king Sumanguru Kanté and the Mandinka prince Sundiata Keita. Sundiata Keita's forces roundly defeated those of Sumanguru Kanté, guaranteeing the pre-eminence of Keita's new Mali Empire over Africa.
By the late twelfth century, the formerly dominant Ghana Empire had collapsed, following internal strife and political intervention of the Almoravids in the eleventh century. A number of smaller neighboring states rushed to fill the power void, including the Sosso people of the Kaniaga kingdom, and the Mandinka people of the Upper Niger. Under the leadership of Soumaro Kanté, the Sosso seized Koumbi Saleh, former capital of the Ghana Empire, and expanded outward, conquering the Mandinka among others.
The exiled Mandinka prince Sundiata Keita organized a coalition of smaller kingdoms to oppose the growing power of the Sosso. The opposing armies met in the Koulikoro Region of what is now Mali in about 1235. Sundiata Keita's forces were victorious, and marched on to raze Sosso. The date is often cited as the beginning of the Mali Empire, which would control most of West Africa for the next two centuries.

John Lone (Chinese: 尊龍; pinyin: Zūn Lóng; born October 13, 1952) is a Hong Kong-born American actor. Lone has played roles as diverse as a caveman in Iceman (1984), Puyi in The Last Emperor (1987), and an apparently female opera performer in M. Butterfly (1993).
Lone was born in October 1952 as Ng Kwok-leung (Chinese: 吳國良; pinyin: Wú Guóliáng) in Hong Kong. He was raised in an orphanage and later adopted by a Shanghainese woman. He began training in Beijing opera at Hong Kong's Chiu Chiu Academy. It was here, at the age of ten, where he was given the name "Johnny". He later chose the name Lone to reflect the fact that he was an orphan and for its similarity to Leung, part of his given name.
Sponsored by an American family, he left the Beijing opera troupe and emigrated to Los Angeles, California. In the United States, he married fellow Santa Ana Community College student Nina Savino in 1972, and gained American citizenship. The couple divorced in 1979. Lone also continued his performing arts studies at American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California. Eventually, he would move to New York City, in order to pursue a career on stage.
Joan Chen (or Chen Chong; born April 26, 1961) is a Chinese-American actress, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. In China she performed in the 1979 film Little Flower and came to international attention for her performance in the 1987 Academy Award-winning film The Last Emperor. She is also known for her roles in Twin Peaks, Red Rose, White Rose, Saving Face and The Home Song Stories, and for directing the feature film Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl.
Chen Chong was born in Shanghai, to a family of pharmacologists. She and her older brother, Chase, were raised during the Cultural Revolution. At the age of 14, Chen was discovered on the school rifle range by Jiang Qing, the wife of leader Mao Zedong and major Chinese Communist Party figure, as she was excelling at marksmanship. This led to her being selected for the Actors' Training Program by the Shanghai Film Studio in 1975, where she was discovered by veteran director Xie Jin who chose her to star in his 1977 film Youth (Chinese: 青春; pinyin: Qīngchūn) as a deaf mute whose senses are restored by an Army medical team. Chen graduated from high school a year in advance, and at the age of 17 entered the prestigious Shanghai International Studies University, where she majored in English.

Ferretti (editor), Joan Chen (actress), Christopher Lambert (actor), Hiro Kanagawa (actor), Mari Natsuki (actress), Stephen Tibbetts (miscellaneous crew), Mark Steven Grove (miscellaneous crew), Don Munro (miscellaneous crew), Michael Warren (actor), James Saito (actor),
Plot: Paul is on one of his many business trips to Tokyo, as a computer-chip executive from New York, when he meets a beautiful and mysterious woman. Later, he finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, inadvertently interrupting an assassination by a feared Ninja-cult. As he is now the only man to have seen the face of the cult's warrior-leader and lived, he soon realizes that he is facing a markedly foreshortened life-expectancy. Teaming up with a friendly samurai couple, on a two-centuries-old blood-feud with the Ninja, he struggles to survive. Finally, recuperating on an island-fortress, he learns swordsmanship, and perhaps, a little about courage, honor, love, and loyalty. The requisite final confrontation is rife with bloody swordplay and spectacular martial-arts action sequences.

My submission for the FFXIV HW Music contest! Night in the Brume is the song that inspired me to try arranging the Ishgard theme when Heavensward was first released, so when this contest was announced I was ecstatic! I decided to stay mostly true to the original, then mixed in a bit of Dragonsong and the Thordan Ex version of the Ishgard theme, and harpify it a bit. :) From an interpretation standpoint, I imagine this as the WoL taking a night walk in the Brume, and a reminiscence of how the MSQ ended comes to mind as they look out towards the stonework. There's still actual performance aspects of the recording that I'd like to improve given more time (ie that F# pedal x.x ), but overall I had a lot of fun with this. :D

Lost and alone
I'm out of the stone
Could be this process everyday
Nothings my own
The dreams that I've grown
I won't control and throw away
I need to make the decisions
I need to make it right
I need to lead the parade
Or this shit will fucking take my life
I want to kill the decisions
I want to make it right
I want to pass this test
And complete my tormented life
This curse is my own
It follows me home
Its like a child that wants to play
The thoughts in my brain
The subconscious pain
Makes me think why do I stay
I need to make the decision
I need make it right
I need to lead the parade
Or this shit will take my life
I want to kill the decisions
I want to make it right
I want to pass this test
And complete my tormented life
I want to kill the decisions
I want it to be right
I want to pass my test
And complete this tormented life
Happy, everything was wonderful
So happy, it's beautiful
I need to make the decision
I need to make it right
I want to kill the decisions
I want to make it right
I want to pass this test
And complete my tormented life
I want to kill the decisions
I want to make it right
I want to pass this test
And complete my tormented life
I'm happy, I knew you'd make it right
